I found this project the other day on Ideas under "gathering support" and "most recent" and was BLOWN away! It may be a bit large though, the creator does not mention the part count.

Hey @LegoMonorailFan, great topic by the way!  :sweet:

The steampunk battleship is pretty cool, and something I would wish I could buy. At 4900 pieces, though--he mentions it in the comments--it would be out of my league.

My biggest complaint is the sea of brown. I think it would look more refined with some dark colors (blue, green, or red) or white. I love steampunk in both its posh Victorian trappings as well as the cobbled-together scrapheap look, but while the scrap aesthetic is a little more forgiving of excess brown, something like this really needs some bold colors to make it more high-class and elegant.

This kind of thing is an issue in Lego steampunk at large (heck, I'm guilty of it), but with a model this good it would be cool to see.

So, 4900 pieces. Ouch, that is a bit much. *huh*

Now I have to agree about the color issue. I've seen many amazing Steampunk creations that I felt were underscored by their lack of certain shades of darker primary colors. All they needed was just at least a little "Earth" color accenting, and the model would be perfect.

Searching around for some train/locomotive projects on Ideas, and I unexpectedly found this one ominous looking steam locomotive. :oh:

This project particularly caught my eye since anything Dieselpunk/Retrofuturistic is of interest to me, but I should say, there are currently many great train projects on Ideas currently, including @Elysiumfountain's Orient Express Thriller! , which is gathering steam (pun intended ) quite quickly.

Supported both! Here's a picture of his Orient Express.

While at Ideas, I saw this ghost train ant thought it was kinda cool!

Unfortunately it only has 24 days left as of this writing. :sceptic:  I'm not sure what can happen in that timespan, but you never know. :shrug_oh_well:

I saw that also, a most complex build, but a bit too morbid for me. I also took note of many of the projects deadlines, and I really didn't bother mentioning them due to that. But like you said, who knows what could happen. :classic:

I also searched around for Classic Space projects, and unfortunately not many are currently around, and the ones that still are have not much time left. Exclude the "Gathering Support" filter, and there are so many very good expired projects.

Well, at least we got Peter Reid's Exo Suit.

There is  a whole line of different locations related to this one, but the harbor in particular caught my eye. I'd been wanting to create something modular like this since at least 2009, but never got around to even conceptualizing. I would definitely buy two of these if it was released.

I'm a sucker for anything with a 1920s-1930s Art Deco style, so while surfing Ideas, I rediscovered this very impressive project by Ideas user Bazhenoff, which has gathered 1100+ supporters but only has 84 days left.

He created a couple other great projects which unfortunately have expired, but I thought I'd share the links here to be admired.

I've found a few projects that are worth mentioning, and I would post the heading photos of each, but they are too large to paste multiple of in a single post.

This project by teljesnegyzet named History of LEGO Castle is a small but nice, compact creation representing Castle's evolution throughout the decades in the form of miniature castle turrets for the theme's 40th anniversary in 2018.

https://ideas.lego.com/projects/077c03b8-0fe3-4e49-8d83-79271ac6f9e8

Another very nice Art Deco project by rh1985moc named 1930s Department Store and Hotel is a beautiful gold and Dark Azure (I think, I love Dark Azure :sweet:) modular with great ornamentation and a well done minimalist clocktower.

https://ideas.lego.com/projects/25d384af-c22e-4b95-843d-43dea87dcaaa

This behemoth project by Bubot64 named Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Mole's Digger is a very impressive Dieselpunk-esq mining vehicle that somewhat reminds me of the Power Miners Thunder Driller from 2009 but in a more retro, antique way. Most recommended!

This was a project I stumbled across that I was quite surprised to see on Ideas, since I first remember seeing it featured on The Brothers Brick blog quite a while ago.

Mecha Mouse (get it? ) by Baron von Brunk.

Aw, that would have been a very nice project.  If we were to discuss failed Ideas projects, I should mention this excellent Galaxy Explorer homage by Eurobricks user @ummester posted here about three years ago.

Here are also two other awesome homage takes on LL928 by Ideas users wolf.leews and NeoMMD76.

https://ideas.lego.com/projects/35d3f3be-5a04-4692-9f01-4743a0305147

But for me, the number one most unfortunate failed project on Ideas is Jonhall18's The Spirit of Freedom. It was almost in reach of 5000 votes! :wall:

Here is a most impressive project by pix027, creator of the 1950's Diner project which currently is in review right now. As of the time of this writing, it is currently a staff pick on Ideas' front page. :classic:

In other news, the Steampunk Battleship project by A. Graham Lego Design I mentioned on this thread earlier has passed the 1000 vote threshold, having gathered 693 new supporters this week.

Brickset has a monthly article series showcasing noteworthy Ideas projects, and their latest one featured two that had caught my attention.

The first one is this unique CS styled Space Pod by JonathanLoo, that even comes with a chromed Classic Spaceman. :oh3:

Spoiler

The second one is this brilliant concept by mkalkwarf named the Kingdoms Modular Castle Creator, which so far has gathered more than 2000 supporters. Unless he is already aware of this project, I'm sure @x105Black would be most interested in this one.

I'm thoroughly interested in both.

Went to support, and had already supported that Castle...

That castle really highlights the essence of Lego.  See how many variations you can build out of the parts included.  It is like a 5 in 1 Creator Castle set!  Some people would definitely be buying that one.  If you bought multiples, then it is on to bigger castles and army building.

Wow. That's pretty cool! Thanks for posting that!

Yes as for the "no self promotion", Eurobricks guidelines do not permit self promotion of Ideas projects. And also, the purpose of this topic is to showcase others projects that one may find interesting, cool, etc.

Of course there are members here on EB (who probably make some splendid Ideas projects) who can simply put there project link in there signature or ask a friend to mention it on a topic such as this.

Also, there is a " worst Lego Ideas projects" topic you may find interesting and amusing.

Heh , I was joking, excessive self-promotion would be a mess, I think I put the link in my signature as you said anyway.

Though I have been unable to find the topic on the worst Lego ideas, is it too much of a hassle to ask you to link it?

I'm not usually into Technic but the dinosaurs caught my attention and thus gained my support.
