Mural boosts Calder by 10HP, now at 860HP

Perhaps it was knowing they were near the end, the Heroes double their efforts and put forth some of the strongest fighting this side of the world had seen. Vindsval annihilates his targets, tearing such large holes through their abdomens their guts fall straight out. Ezeran Injures a Pongcanis, but it's friend takes a swipe at Ezeran for pay back. Matthias manages to injure his target along with the Mural and another guard. Galedo tries to punch the Mural but does nothing, sort of like he's done the past few battles. Petaldan, the tiny knight, steps forward and protects his allies from damage next round, and Addok copies Matthias, only with his crossbow and some slightly different targets. It appears the Heroes found a way to work together. Jeremiah though might still be shaken and is hurt, yet Matthias patches him up. Luke, energized by the thought of his homeland, critically wounds one of the loudmouthed guards.

Math check above; nothing wrong with the first calculation for Vindsval but I left it in because it was fun to do.

Matthias stands dumbstruck as the half-giant tears a man clean in half, then nearly obliterates a Pongcanis. The druid knows he can blow people apart with his cannons, but Half-Born does it with a simple lance, and the vindicator only has one arm! For half a second, he's back in his family's barber shop, listening wide-eyed to tall tales from heroes in Drandora. He forgets himself for just a moment. Recognition of the moment dawns on Matthias and a grim grin gleams under the brim of his tall hat, the joy of battle bursting forth in a tiny gnome belly laugh as he taunts the wizard. "Still so sure of yourself, old man? Care to reconsider your options?" He doesn't wait for an answer, but attacks again before calling forth more ether to patch up Yavarr (if needed), or attacking again.

Seeing blood and guts spilling out all over the joint, my face distorts and my insides are moved in disgust, the contents there of leaping from my mouth against my will. Suddenly being very aware of the presence of my fellow heroes, I feel embarrassed and try to cover my position with my shield and a sentinel stance. I also realize that I don't really want to kill these people, no matter how "evil" they are. Gingerly, I repeat my attack from the Front Row.

Vindsval runs a talon along the length of the lance, it comes away dripping blood.  He starred at it and his mouth curls into a feral sneer, his eyes glaze over.  In a growl he whispers, Your souls will feel my lord, and your flesh the scavengers of the deep.

And people though the last round was going to be one for the ages. Oh no, this one blows the previous out of the water. Vindsval and Ezeran eviscerate their targets. Ezeran's spell begins to sap the strength of everyone aside from Calder, and he even gains gold (surpised it could be found, actuually). Matthias loads up his cannon and fires off a shot, splintering the mural into tiny fragments, most of which end up embedding themselves in Guy and the first bodyguard.  Galedo stands back, unsure of what to do now since his target has been blown across the sea to Baltarok, probably further. Petaldan sees his original target is gone and lays down a strong hit on Guy. Addok finishes off the smart mouthed guard with a shot some might consider to be overkill. Jeremiah, seeing the mural was gone  gains the courage to unleash an attack almost as powerful as Ezeran's. He even strikes his own grandfather! More enemies fall by the wayside, until there is only Calder Den left...

I hold back for a moment. Looking for a weak spot in the elder Den's position, but not seeing any immediately. With all the others assailing him, attacking him now seems like a poor choice, especially with my pitiful strike of the last round.

Matthias uses his staff to enhance Vindsval's lance. The half-giant swings, but only is able to bring his shiled around for the first blow. Matthias enhances again, making Vindsval's weapoon even stronger. Vindsval pulls back the mechanical arm, and thrusts the lance forward, forcing the evil sorcerer to go sprawling. But Den gets back up, only to meet three arrows from Addok-Zo to the torso. Jeremiah casts a spell, but Calder is ready for his grandson. He counters, injuring his own flesh and blood. Matthias charges up the lance again, and Vindsval calls upon the Wanderer. The Heroes watch, mentally willing Vindsval to do the deed. The half-giant charges forward, using his great momentum focused onto the tiny tip of the lance, and thrusts right at Calder Den's heart. If there was anything the man could say in his dying words, they went unheard. The terror from this man for the Tridentians was over, at least from what they could tell.

"We must always respect our foes, especially once they are dead. It is not good for us to speak ill of the dead. Once upon a time, he may have been just like us...That is what my mother would always say. I don't think we need to have a great ceremony, but a simple burial..."

Vindval pushes the lance through the wizards body, pinning it to the very stone.

You all know of his experiments, this one is not yet finished.

The giant leaves the lance in the stone and draws his great sword.  Wanderer, take this one to be judged.  In a two handed slash he brings the great blade down on the wizards neck.  Cleaning severing it from the body.  As it is done a glow coalesces around the lance and shoots upwards into the heavens.  

Truly it is now finished.

He picks up the severed head and places it within a large crack in the mural wall.  He pulls back his metal fist and slams it, once, twice, three times into the surface of the mural. With a cracking of stone the wall comes down entombing the head.

Let this be his tomb, Jeremiah will seal the doors once we have left lest anyone take up this work anew.

He glares at the younger mage, the red glow, not yet gone from his eyes.

This will be done, will it not Master Den?

As the others watch they can almost see the rage and battle lust evaporate from his body.  If asked they would describe it as a heat haze rising from his shoulders and eyes.  Visibly calmer and more collected he arranges the fallen soldiers alongside their master.  He places their hands upon their chests and cleanly severs each of their heads from their bodies.  As he does so he says a silent prayer over each body as their souls are released to the heavens.

Let this be their tomb as well.  Though their allegiance was misguided they fought with honor for the one they called their lord.

He gathers the loot from the fallen and looks to his friends and companions.

Petaldan, I believe you could use this to add bite to your sword.

He hands the Paladin the TOPAZ

Ezeran, Use this well.

He hands the wizard the SORCERER'S STAFF

He looks to the rest of his companions.

Of what remains would any of you wish a specific claim?

I advise you to share his sorrow, to make whatever overtures of friendship you can muster. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all... from now on, that includes the Dens." It's clear the tiny druid is taking the hero role pretty seriously here.

He then directs his attention to the Tridentians.  "Ehhh, nothing too special - we killed the bad guy, saved the day - all in a day's work."  He then tries to change the subject.  "So what will come of you guys know that Calder Den is dead?"

The walk back to town see Vindsval back to his old self.  The rage of battle gone he looks around, marveling at the changes that have been wrought since his first visit.

On the way he finishes distributing the spoils from the final battle.

William, my friend speaks cleanly and true.  If you wish your island to truly prosper, cultivate the goodwill that has begun to grow here.  Though the younger of the family, Jeremiah is still a wise man. He chose to side against his own blood to protect the good of all.  I would recommend leaving a contact, an ambassador of sorts, here with him.  One who knows both the goings on of your world, and the evils of his.

Vindsval places his hand on Lukes shoulder and looks down at him.

I would recomend this one for this path.  He gently pushes Luke forward towards the town leader.
