second character

Colonel Don Antonio (Barón Antonio Slavik de Mendoza)

52204617675_f76d00d1d5_b.jpgCategory A Anton Slavik 2 by Philippe, auf Flickr

Barón Antonio Slavik de Mendoza. Don Antonio is Colonel of the Brotherhood and Sisterhood of NOD Land Forces.

Regiment 270 Men

Sea Rats have their own rules and certain benefits and disadvantages. Just because nobody has done it before doesn't mean it's not possible. The current troop count of the Brotherhood and Sisterhood NOD Land Forces is 240. Oops!...I Did It Again. Now it's 300! :pir-grin: The regiment is commanded by a colonel.

Sea Rats Military Units Part 2: NOD Dragoons

Barón Antonio Slavik de Mendoza is a Mardierian noble. Unfortunately, there were discrepancies with the taxes. Of course, he wanted to prove his innocence in the honorable Mardierian court. :angel_sing: Unfortunately, urgent business required him to sail away on a ship.

So as we wind up on the Seawatch campaign, I was trying to figure out how to get the Searats into it. It's likely to dominate events this year and there is no impetus for SR individuals to join in but I'd like to see any player join in who wants to.

To that end and a few others, we at Oleon have been brainstorming an incentive system for any individual SR who wishes to aid the Coalition. Monetary incentives of course.

It's only in the draft stages and we don't know if the rest of the coalition is on board with the plan but I figured it wouldn't hurt to get the input of those we are trying to appeal to, in order to get it formalized.

1) Dbs incentives based on number of ground forces committed to a battle.

2) Bonus dbs for captured lotii ships

3) Dbs rewards for captured lotii crew (incase you take a ship and want to keep it, we can still kick a little cash your way.

Naturally, this is all payment upon delivery.

Let us know what you all think here, please!

Thanks, ♧

It sounds interessting! Is it an Olean Letters of Marque? This has the advantage for Oleon that they do not lose any ships to me due to accidents at sea. Of course, I expect that my pirate ships merchant ships will not be attacked either.

Kane, Kane the Magnificent, Leader of the Brotherhood and Sisterhood of NOD, hero of freedom, man of honor

Is it also hiring mercenaries?

Don Antonio, Barón Antonio Slavik de Mendoza, Senior Partner of the Free Traders Association, Colonel of the Brotherhood and Sisterhood of NOD Land Forces

I do miss the Letter of Marque shenanigans of Era 1 a bit.  That was a wild time.  Poor Legostone... I still feel a bit guilty for turning on him.*

There is a bit of a hiccup rule wise atm that impedes us helping because... we have split personalities.  To explain: All my income generating and land-based stuff is "legal Sea Rat" and thus pseudo-protected from being targeted by anything but NPCs.  All my warship fleet is "Pirate" and everyone is gunning for me in the MRCA (or running I suppose).  Yes, I could raise some troops and use mercantile boats as transport to enter the combat zone but my escorting warships would be black-flagged and so i) sailing with a BFlag turns you into one (not great for a merchant) and ii) I'd show up in the same zone and just be jumped by every non-Oleon warfleet before I did anything.

The trade-off to dabbling in piracy means you split your fleet and militia, and they can't support each other.  A weird side effect of that is that some of us become very fleet oriented.

So I put this to you @Jeff of Clubs: let's assume you get both the COR and ESL to agree to stop targeting BFlag SR and half the Sea Rats join up.  How would you address the other half :innocent2: who keep to their buccaneering ways?  A bit of a fox in the hen house scenario there.

I can only speak for myself, but I am happy sitting this one out.  I had my bit of fun during the Terra Versa war doing misdeeds for someone who will remain nameless, but the 3 factions united so quickly in this Loti war that is was essentially over before it started.  I can still enjoy the builds from the sidelines regardless.

==/==/==

Now, if faction leaders wish to bribe a certain Pirate Commodore :innocent: not attack their juicy, wallowing, trade convoys, I'd be open to hearing what they have to pay say.

*No I don't

If you get a Letter of Marque from a faction (the letters still exist, we just haven't had a reason to use them) and OL, COR, and ESL agree to honor it, the BF status of your ships can be toggled to "off" (i.e., no-longer black flagged) and toggled back "on" when the letter expires. There are various conditions that can remove a black flag, and this is one of them.

The main goal of this is getting anyone in on the action who wants to, regardless of faction. o be clear, we would be attempting to appeal to SR players on an individual basis rather than trying for a whole faction. A 'help wanted, payment upon delivery' kinda deal.

@NOD yes this includes mercenaries! (Cat1.) If you're taking it to the Lotii, naturally certain securities from the other signatories should be expected.

@Kwatchi, Regardless of your relationship with the factions, if in your 'travels' you come upon Lotii vessels, raid a Lotii settlement, etc, you would be rewarded for pummeling them. Oleon is just putting an open ticket on the Lotii for any interested party.

As to the other parties' consent, it would seem odd for such a vaunted pirate to join with a coalition, you're probably making plenty as is 🤣😂🤣 but if there are those in your faction with more amicable reputations who want to participate in the Lotii events or have a score to settle with them, more builders are always welcome.

Afterall, we are tolerating the WTC who are little better than pirates.

Besides, El Oleonda is a large island with plenty of room for ulterior motives...

@Capt Wolf, maybe we should keep it simple and just use the rules you all have for marque already 😂. I've seen them mentioned here and there but have not come across the rules for marque yet. I'll hit the index again.

I don't think there are any specific rules recorded for Letters of Marque (they are a historical practice, not specifically a game rule). But there are rules for removing a black flag. The key quote is this: "a ship ... retains its 'black flag' status until some external event (capture, trial, pardon, etc.) wipes its slate clean." A letter of marque agreed upon by all parties falls under "etc." It serves as a temporary pardon.

Hello! Yes, all the factions are open for joining, just we didn't have many new members in the recent period!

Yes, you're welcome mate. The game is still going on, but Keymonus is true, there was some times between the last member joining the rats and you

Hello my dear fellow Sea Rats !

Is there any place open for an old player to join again the game with a new character in a new faction ?

I am Faladrin, I played Felipe de la Manzana in Eslandola years ago.

But, I would like to change faction to start from scratch a new character for the future new Era III.

Hello! You are welcome! You can start with a new character in the Sea Rats Faction. Or you can tell your new stories with Felipe de la Manzana at the Sea Rats Faction.

It has happened before and will happen again. I don't know what happens in Era III. Maybe I'm still there, maybe not. A member should have the opportunity to change the faction.

I like that. It would be great if we all doubled-down on our identities; Oleon would become a Cult, Corrington would become a Sophocracy, Eslandola would become a Megacorporation, and the Sea Rats would become a movement of freedom fighters.

Hey great idea ! I like it !

It would be very RP to accentuate those identities to represent the fact that Factions evolved. You should suggest this in the "looking for help for new Era" or something like that... dedicated thread.
