Need Help Constructing the Right Wheels

Recommended Posts

Good Evening Everyone;

Long time LEGO fan main choice of entertainment as a child but now coming back to it as an AFOL and need some help. I have decided to take on the Aliens APC and Dropship for my first MOC's. I've been using 'Missing Bricks' and 'HAVOC' creations and reference but I can't seem to figure out what exact parts make up the wheels on the APC from the LEGO website. Would someone be willing to give me some guidance? Time and consideration appreciated, see pics.

Cheers

If you know the Lego set number, you can either go to http://lego.brickinstructions.com/en/search/general/new or BrickSet and look at the instructions page that lists the parts or in BrickSet, click on "Pieces" and see the parts, but sometimes it doesn't list parts not available on Lego's Bricks & Pieces. The part numbers from Lego instructions is the Element ID which includes color information.

It looks like part # 3740 was used in the model. Unfortunately the last time it was in a set was 1989 so you won't find it on the LEGO website. But you can find it on Bricklink: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3740#T=S&C=11&O={"color":11} or on Brickowl: http://www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-tyre-24-x-43-technic-3740

It's either this or this wheel. I don't have any of them, but assume the larger (last one) was used in MOC above.

Hi SilentSoul.  Just wanted to mention that Havoc's excellent APC is in a giant scale so if it's your first AFOL MOC you might want to start with a smaller minifig-scale version based on Larry Lars classic design. Happy building.

I'm going to echo trying a minifig scale version first. Not only is it fun working in all sorts of features for the minifigs to use, but large MOCs can very quickly get outrageously expensive. I remember making a handgun and it cost almost $200 after shipping. It was totally worth it, but, I mean, damn, 200 bucks lol
