Building project of the dutch 2nd rate ship of the line "De Zeven Provinciën''.

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow ship builders, I am intending to build the dutch 2nd rate ship of the line, the seven provinces.

Build in 1665, in order of De Witt, she belonged to a big project; the building of 60 new warships for the Dutch fleet. The Dutch needed a larger and stronger fleet because the were at war with England.

The seven provinces (de zeven provinciën) was the flagship of the Dutch admiral, Michiel Adriaenzoon de Ruyter.

she carried 80 cannons and had a crew from around 500-700 men.

In this topic I like to get some inspiration for the building project and some usefull tips to make a big ship  like this, since I am new to this ;)

(It is going to be minifig scale ;)

Also please note that my English is worse, and my experience is zero.

Also, if anyone can help me with the pictures on this topic, that would be awesome ;)

Thanks for reading and greetings from the Netherlands,

Admiral Bruls

It would seem you're in a similar situation as Syal Antilli so you may find the conversation we had over his plans to build a fifth rate enlightening.

Hello there! I am very fond of the Dutch shipwrights and did a big paper on the 17th century ship art. The Dutch shipwrights were truly magnificent. If you have any questions about certain parts of the ship, do ask, and I'm sure you already visited the Bataviawerf ;)

Best of luck!

Update 1: Stopping to project for a while ;(

Hi everyone ;), Im back and this is my first update with some very bad news.

A couple days ago, my money was stolen and now I cant order the parts for the ship ;(

I'm now raising my money again with working, that means that I will be dead the upcoming weeks ;(

I will be re-starting the project after 7-9 weeks, and then I can maybe give some pictures of the building progress;)

Thanks for the patience and greetings frm the Netherlands,

Admiral N.B
