Collectible Historic/Fantasy Minifigure Series

Recommended Posts

Given the recent rumour of the Series 18 collectible minifigure series being a themed "costume party" series, and the Monsters theme from a few years back, TLG seem to be open to having a themed minifigure series.

With the current drought in traditional historic and fantasy minifigures without a current Castle or LOTR like theme, could this be the answer to our prayers?

I ask you to indulge in a bit of light hearted speculation and put together your dream list of up to 16 historic and/or fantasy minifigures you would like to see. I will add my own list later today

Who knows, TLG may even read this thread and take notice!

Ok, so, Here's my lineup:

1. Undead Knight/Warrior (Either as a skeletal or ghastly form, or as a Vampire with bat heraldry, as a nod to Fright Knights)

2. 18th century Gentleman/Prince (Might reuse S7 Judge's wig)

3. A Necromancer (an evil wizard with some cool bone designs, perhaps in a form of a Lich?)

4. An Alchemist (Basically a Medieval Mad Scientist)

5. Some sort of Steampunk minifigure (an Inventor, or Airship Pilot, or something else to go with Steampunk)

6. Clockwork Automaton

7. Female Pirate

8. Historically accurate Viking/Norman (no horned helmet nonsense)

9. A stone or clay Golem

10. Elven Female

11. 18 Century Queen/Lady (Think Marie Antoinette)

12. A dark Elf

13. A Medieval Monk (very unlikely because of TLG's non religious policy)

15. A Bard/Musician

16. A Centaur (With new horse body mould).

If Lego released a CMF series with a minifigure version of that guy, I would spend all the money. Just saying. :classic:

Since we've already had a minifigure that alluded to Conan (series 11's Barbarian), I think they arguably have to do one inspired by Red Sonja at some point, no? Granted, since Conan was in series 11, she wouldn't have to be in a special series, but it would make it even more special!

Same here - especially if he came as pictured with an axe, a sword and a shield for max flexibility :)

Honestly, It's a no brainer to have this type of series if you think about it. There would be so much appeal for anyone even remotely interested in army building that TLG would clean up.

Good call on Red Sonja btw. Would buy that minifig in a heartbeat

Man, that's a great list. Hard to improve upon.

Fun idea for a thread too! I'll put some thought to it and see if I can come up with anything that hasn't already been mentioned.

Don't worry too much about repeats of stuff that's already been posted here - this is a dream line up remember :)

The only rule really is to avoid figs that TLG have already provided in a collectible series

Depending on how many people post lists - I might compile a "top 16" and add it to the original post.

If anyone is hesitating because they don't want to list 16 figs - that's cool too. Just post however many you like

I'd love to see the following:

1. Fantasy knight - this one would require a slight mod to the neck katana holder - it would allow a sword to be stowed there (only one, unlike the double katana one)

2. Scout - armored print, light helmet, bow and quiver, or bow and cape.

3. Wizard warrior - shield and staff with a crystal with white hair and beard

4. Female knight - armor, definately lighter brighter colors but not pink or anything crazy like that

5. towns person - a common folk of sorts

6. lighter colored variation on the gypsy women from way back - she would be the towns healer

7. hooded druid like character - cape and a staff

8. nobleman / prince - brightly looking with a goblet

9. Elven knight

10. minstrel

11. Noblewoman

12. innkeeper

13. jester (yes we had plenty, but a new one would be useful anytime :D )

14. fighting dwarf

15. blacksmith

16. foot soldier - shield spear and helmet

Here are mine. Some of them have already been mentioned.

  1. Dark Elf
  2. Two-headed Giant - using the long arms and legs moulds used for Toy Story's Woody and a new shoulder piece to take two heads, possibly reprinted baby heads.
  3. Troll - Alexandre Boudon's design
  4. Death Knight
  5. Cambion - human-devil hybrid inspired by NK's red villain designs
  6. Harpy
  7. Druid
  8. Vampire Hunter - Van Helsing
  9. Arabian Thief - Ali Baba
  10. 19th Century Californian Swashbuckler - Zorro
  11. Necromancer with Skeleton Dog

  13. Oni - Japanese ogre
  14. Messenger of Olympus - Hermes

I think I like your second list better :)

Love the idea of including individual mythological figures in a series like this. I know they've dabbled with this in the past (Poseidon, Medusa) but imagine the possibilities if they did a few of these historic/fantasy minifigure series with a handful of gods/goddesses/heroes included in each.

The beauty of it is they have backstories and recognition almost as good Marvel/DC but without the licensing issues.

If anyone else is considering posting a list here btw - please do (even if it's less than 16 figs).

I'll compile a "most wanted" list based on the responses here in a week or so. I might even send it to TLG !

Not brick-built, nor bigfig. For the Nordic Giant, I was thinking along the lines of the Woody figure in terms of size, sort of like how biblical giant Goliath compared to David (which would be regular minifig size). As for the ogre, the emphasis was on the fact that it's not a goblin or cyclops. Maybe in medium nougat would be nice.

Isn't she glorious?

She really is! And that dress works just as well for an enchantress-type character as for a warrior-type.

I would also love a centaur minifigure, but I wonder how that would work with the blind bags - as in, with the horse body and legs, would it be way too easy to feel which one was him/her? There're always a couple of figures that sell out way faster than the others even as it is . . .

So, After Compliling my list, I Decided to take a step further and actually design my figs: fantasy_cmf.png

Since Elf Girl was already made by TLG, I had to make a different fig, a Plague Doctor. Also my list consisted only 15 minifigs, so I added a Mindflayer, straight from D&D. And sorry for messed up prints, I have to use LDD in Safe Mode, which Sucks. Anyways:

fantasy_cmf1.png

First row, from left to right: Vampire Knight, 17th-18th Century Gentleman (Suggested official name: Nobleman, or Prince), Necromancer and female Alchemist.

fantasy_cmf2.png

Second Row: Steampunk Minifig (Sugested official name: Steam Engineer), Clockwork Automaton, Female Pirate (Sugested Official name: Pirate Wench), and Norman Warrior.

fantasy_cmf3.png

Third Row: Golem, Plague Doctor, 18th century Lady (Suggested Official name: Opera Singer), and Dark Elf.

fantasy_cmf4.png

And the last row: Monk (suggested official name: Chronicler, or Scribe), Bard/Minstrel, Mindflayer/Ithilid/Chthulhu (Suggested official name: Eldritch Horror), and Centaur.

If you want to see them in flesh, here's the .lxf:
