Okay, these are surely the more grandiose ones. With building kits I meant a fair amount of generic bricks to boost children's options to build...well, general stuff. Under 'model' I mean more specific parts.

Neither is better than the other, it is just the matter of perspective. If I had a kid who just starts with Lego, I'd buy him all the generic creator sets in the blink of an eye instead of a Nasa 'model' kit or even a Ninjago set for example.

Both of those cited examples there retailed for 49.99€ and 54.99€ respectively, and given that this ship is reported to be clocking in at approximately 99.99€, I'm pretty certain they'll pull it off just fine even though it's a Three-In-One set...

Ah, I understand you know. So you say it may be well generic, considering it's a 3-in-1 set, but still very refined as a ship-model. Well, I can only say at this point that I hope you're right.

I have small hopes regarding this ship, it will probably look to different compared to older ships with way more specialized parts, maybe some useful minifigs included
On the other hand it is interesting that they make it at least, it is something different in creator for a change

It won’t be minifigure scale will it?  I never buy creator stuff and for some reason I keep thinking that it is not minifg scale.

At that price, it has to be minifig-scaled, and it sounds like @Zusammengebaut is pretty certain that it will be!

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but the comments at the end of this article reveal a few more bits of info about the ship. Head to the end of the article and a few people have left questions about the ship which have been answered in the comments.

Apparently the ship will feature 2 masts and is not quite as big as the classic pirate ships. They describe the size as being "city compatible" and that it would be the correct scale to put in a city dock.

It is minifig scale and includes a few figures.

The hull is completely brick built and is mostly brown but has black elements used as well.

So if it has to fit in a City dock it will have a flat bottom. I am curios about the plates they will use. I hope a few bigger ones. I wonder how many cannons they will place in on each side (or even if) because everyone talked about the sails and the minifigs but nothing about the cannons . Speculation: A LEGO-set ship this size could have maybe 2-3 hatches on each side and 3 cannons overall. I would more like to see 6 cannons, 3 for each side. But I did not find more details on it.

I really hope the creator pirate ship is basically a larger version of the merchant ship from the Imperial Trading post.  If we are really lucky the "pirates" that come with it would be generic enough to use as merchants or pirates just like the trading ship.  I always thought it was silly that Lego never made a ship like that as a stand alone set in the pirates theme.

Well, considering the information we have it'll be nothing like the good old trading vessel. I myself expect the pirates to be the same we've seen in the past years. Similar to classic figures but in a more junioralized way.

I'm hoping I can convert it to civilian use fairly simply by omitting the skull and maybe trying some crossed anchor pixel art instead.
IF that is the case I might pick up multiples or at least kitbash a few together like I'm doing with IMTP ships.
The lack of robbing/escort/defense targets has always annoyed me in Classic Castle and Pirate.

Probably brick built as the rest of the ship

Some old canons have been released last year in the rollercoaster pirate set. No reason to not akso use them in this set.

Agreed, it even had some references to a blend of a few older Pirates sets in those structures .

Cannon was also used in 3 2019 sets , including a 4+ one.

Useable cannons would also add so much more to the alternate builds.

I still think at the very least they add a single cannon on a rotating platform, but I do hope for multiple.

I don't know if the article compared the size with Imperial Flagship, as that's the big exception having 3 masts so this set would be smaller indeed.

As for Pirate Ship sets, the 1993 Ship (6286: Skull's Eye Schooner) was also a notable exception and also a larger ship for it's time with 8 cannons.

I do not say it have brick built cannons because Lego do not produce them any more (the pirate bay will for sure have several), but since everything that normally is moulded on pirate ships is brick built on this ship they are probably as well.
I hope I am wrong, but look at animals in 3 in 1 sets they are always brick built (except the smallest like fish)..

The Pirate Roller Coaster set had a brick-built parrot, but the cannon was just a regular Cannon.

I'd be sad if they call it Pirate Ship, with minifigures included and have no useable cannon(s).

Interesting thing also, that the 2019 Creator Petshop/Cafe had 2 white parrots (as statues), but a single-color is likely easier to include then a dual-moulded/printed one, and the blue/yellow parrots are in Xtra right now.

But anyway, I'll wait for actual pictures

SES had 4 cannons just like the Barracuda. Or if you meant the actual space for cannons it is really the same for all classic Big Three which is 8 for sure.

I highly doubt we are going to get molded useable cannons for a completely brickbuilt ship, I wouldn't prefer it myself too even if I still love those cannons.

• The sail was build out of memory. The Skull is improvised. It should look different like the original sail. But it should give a direction.

I mostly meant the difference was 4 cannons in a straight row on the sides. I see the actual set came with 4.

I see the other ships have gun ports at different locations.

I'm sorry. I was not able to see the ship. I only translated the blog for the rest of the world. 

But I assume since it's Creator and they say colorful I could imagine that it is a brick-build mermaid or a minifig mermaid in new colours.
