LEGO Star Wars CMF Unofficial Vote

Hello everyone!

As unlikely as it is, what if LEGO made a Star Wars CMF line?

If so, what figures should they include?

I think Lego would want to try and and keep some main figures but at the same time include some rare ones. I think they would also focus on giving some prequel characters some non CW eyes. Like Shaak Ti for example.

I basically voted for any figure we haven't got ever, or haven't got in a set in over ten years or so. The issue I see with a lot of the list is that %75 of the figures on it are readily available in recent sets, so I really don't see them being a good thing to release in a collectible series, unless the figure is a unique variant (i.e. Cloud City Luke or Leia would be pretty awesome; but any other Luke or Leia is rather available.)

If that ever happened (and it won't, sadly) I'd go for a mix of exclusives that are unlikely to make sense in sets and somewhat generic troopers/pilots/ground crewmen that can be bought in multiples.

Characters like R2D2, C3PO or Han would be wasted given that they're in $30 sets all the time.

I was really hoping to see the imperial spy in the A New Hope poll.

Still, I really like this idea of a Star Wars CMF poll. It's fun to see which characters are more wanted by the community. I think the episode in which I voted for the most minifigures is episode V, what with all the bounty hunters and cloud city-related figs.

I think for a Star Wars CMF line to work it really needs to be a mixed selection of characters from across the saga. Giving each movie their own line isn't going to work for a number of reasons - it limits the options of what Lego can include in the actual sets, there aren't enough CMF waves each year to keep up with the number of films and in some cases such as ESB we're already scraping at the bottom of the barrel in terms of new minifigures.

Main characters should also be unique enough that they wouldn't otherwise appear in sets. There's no point including Bespin costumes when they could potentially appear in a future Cloud City set. Instead something like a MacQuarrie concept Darth Vader, Holiday Special Boba Fett, Luke and Leia based off the 1977 Star Wars poster or Queen Amidala's blink-and-you-miss costumes would be better.

I find the options for this poll a bit redundant since most characters have been previously released in sets, but I do like the idea of having a poll just for unreleased characters alone (not limited to CMFs either) to get a better idea of what the community wants. Rebelscum has an annual fan wishlist poll each year which has proven to be a great form of customer feedback for Hasbro. Maybe Eurobricks should give it a try?

Star Wars CMF would need multiple release series of 16 each or it would be too hard for completionists. Simpsons got two series, so why not Star Wars and other franchises?

I think it's not going to happen, due to Hasbro owning the rights to release Star Wars figures individually. Or something like that. I'm not too sure about the official name of their right, but I do know Hasbro is the reason why sets like 7201 - Final Duel aren't being made anymore, and why every battle pack needs a vehicle (or turret, or anything in addition to figures).

A CMF series would be awesome! I'm sure it would go down well with the Lego Star Wars fans greatly, it would be a great way to obtain minifigures cheaply!

What about Clone Wars figures and Rebels? There are a lot of options for those as well!

No, I would honestly refrain from most of these (excluding ones we haven't had yet, such as Ponda Baba and Cornelius Evazan),
and drop in some unique figures, mainly aliens. Give us the Twi'lek dancers from Jabba's Palace (other than Oola), Ponda Baba, Cornelius Evazan, Garindan, updated Greedo,
Wuher, astromech and protocol droids we haven't had yet (or updated versions of older ones - R-3PO comes to mind), some different variants of Ugnaughts, some of Jabba's alien thugs,
Lobot with a 3D cyborg headwrap, potentially with a bald headpiece attached to it, and then any outfit variants of named characters that we haven't had yet, such as a new Cloud City Leia.

It might be best to check with the mods first. They might feel the "Most Wanted Star Wars Characters" topic is enough although that thread has been running since 2008 and has gotten pretty cluttered at this point. Ideally they could just lock the old threads and start fresh with a new poll.

Here's a rundown of unreleased characters for each film and the two TV series. Most aren't likely to be released but again the whole purpose is to see which characters the fan community wants the most. It would definitely be an interesting survey.
