Rumours has it that the King's Port Advertiser had lost its privileged access to shipping information in the Brick Seas.  Such rumours are unfounded and any alleged delays in bringing you this information are to blame on the postal services!

Headlines:

KING FERNANDO MEETS HIS DEMISE - ESLANDOLA REVOLUTIONIZED!
In a fatal twist of events, Eslandola's King Fernando was dragged out of his bed and forced to virtually abdicate his power!  His most trusted Councillors have turned against him, and it was one of his oldest friends who organized the coup!  Where will this end?  Rumor has it that the King begs in the backstreets, while others insist that he continues to plot his return.  Still others report him gormandizing behind the castle stairs!
Meanwhile, Eslandola's statesmen have taken matters into their own hands and struck a blow at monarchy everywhere with a brand new Constitution.  Knowing Mardierians predict that this will end in total chaos - as everyone knows, Kingless is Comfortless!  Democracy is an impossible dream, and we confidently predict that Eslandola will soon fall to pieces!

A CIVILISED PEOPLE AMONGST BARBARIANS?
Rumours has it that Queen Anetta has hired architects and contractors to build a grand park in the Naval Base of King's Harbour.  Are Corlander soldiers and sailors weak-kneed romantics, are the officers unable to stand the harshness of the colonies, or are they simply closer to civilised than the other nations of Halos and New Terra?  Might they even emulate the Grandeur of the Mardierian Empire itself?

ESLANDRAMA ON A RAMPAGE!
Eslandola has taken unprecedented measures to "secure its holdings," by actually setting up a rival settlement on a Marderian island!  Considered an act of war, this move has brought dramatic tension into Eslandola-Mardier relationships.  Mardier has issued a cease and desist, but Eslandola, with reckless bravado, hasn't budged.
Close on its heels, Eslandola's King Fernando launched an unprovoked attack on Oleon - an attack disclaimed by the rest of Eslandola.  But since it was this attack that provided revolutionaries with the excuse to dethrone King Fernado, maybe they had more to do with it then they'd like to admit...

OLEON GOES MONARCHIC
While Eslandola desperately tries to make its democracy appear functional, Oleon made its resolve to order and tradition clear. Royal Decrees from King Philip reaffirm that prestige and honor, not equality and rights, are the true measures of a man. But they don't stop there. These decrees offer opportunities for advancement within Oleon. Commoners and nobles alike have a chance to prove their worth, on the field of battle and in civil pursuits, with the hope of earning titles, medals, pensions, and, for the most legendary achievements, a peerage. Will this fortify the new king and his nobility, or will it simply bankrupt a nation while creating new rivals?

MAESTRO CORNERS THE APPLE MARKET
How Eslandola contrives to continue routine business like granting monopolies when its King can't keep his seat will forever be a mystery, but MAESTRO members now have a 150% yield on Apple Plantations!  So stock up fast folks, 'cause prices are rising!

NAVAL ARMS RACE ESCALATES
In response to an Oleon incentive, Corrington has offered a reward to its citizens for warships submitted to the crown.  Private citizen initiatives from Eslandola are being offered as well.  This may be too much for shipyards to handle - it remains to be seen how successful these endeavors will be.  Mardier looks on complacently, and speculation of war between these lesser powers isn't wanting.

CRIME PARADED IN CHARLATAN BAY
Reports of gangs in Charlatan bay have reached an all-time high, and gang leader names that used to be shrouded in mystery are now becoming household words.  Charlatan's mayor seems to be indifferent to their existence - law-abiding citizens beware!  But what would law-abiding citizens have to do with a Sea Rat property, anyways?

ESLANDOLA APOLOGIZES
To the illustrious King Philip I of Oleon,
For every right-minded citizen of Eslandola, it has been severely mortifying to witness the actions of King Fernando during these past few months.  The chaos into which it has thrown our country is just beginning to be remedied, and we thank you for your patience and forbearance thus far.  We wish to formally signify our regret and our desire for further friendly relations by restoring you the captured forts, with damages.  [OOC: In practical terms, you can license the forts Garmadon and I built wherever you please, if you’d like.]
We have required assurances from our King that such unilateral action will never be taken in the future.  It is our earnest wish that never again will the state of Eslandola present such a hydra-headed monster as it has in these past few months of turmoil.
With sincere regards and thanks for your patience,
Guy K. Wyndzon
Guy K. Wyndzon
Secretary of State
Eslandola

Editor's Note: One wonders when the war-mongering Eslandians will come to their senses and apologis(z)e to the Mardierian Empire. Perhaps our fleets and armies marching into Terreli is the necessary medicine?

SHIPPING NEWS

NEW FOE TERRORIZES BRICK SEAS!

For years, Mokolei and her allied states have remained singularly focused on territorial struggles in Halos.  Not anymore.  Several Mokolei galleys armed to the teeth with cannons and hardened desert warriors have begun terrorizing the most innocent of ships they can find, small lightly-armed coastal craft.  Fortunately, their rowers are largely ignorant in their craft, allowing most targets to escape without harm.  One notable exception, the HMS Isandlwana was attacked by the Desert Prince under the command of Captain Ali. It is unknown if these attacks are the actions of rogue princes or if the Sultan is suffering the same illness that befell Eslandola’s king.  All that is certain is, beware the next time you see the ensign of the Scimitar and the Moon.

SEA RATS ATTACK NATIONAL FLEETS!

The Sea Rats are not sitting idly by while Halos’ rulers plot their destruction.  Following several successful anti-pirate squadrons, the Sea Rats have struck back in force.  One such force composed of The Viper, White Skull, and Dear John were able to attack two Eslandolan ships, the Dark Spirit and Pineapple Revenge.  Attacking from windward, the Sea Rats held the weather gauge and were able to quickly separate the two Eslandolan vessels.  The Viper quickly boarded the Pineapple, and threatened with the prospect of the White Skull raking her stern, the Pineapple struck.  Mirroring the misfortune of its opponent, the Dear John proceeded to attack the Dark Spirit alone. Two short broadsides later, the John was forced to retire after a fire broke out amidships.  With the Viper and Skull occupied with their prize, the Dark Spirit’s barge and launch were able to come up behind the Skull and capture her with little resistance.  The Spirit and Viper began firing broadsides as both sides maneuvered their prizes to safety.  It soon became clear that both sides were badly battered and, just as the John’s powder magazine ignited, taking the life of every man on board, the two survivors retired with their respective prizes in tow after an indecisive battle.

Another Sea Rat squadron came upon a Oleon-Corrington anti-pirate fleet just as they were repairing from a brutal fight with a Pontillan privateer that dismasted the Armina. Taking advantage of their enemy’s weakness, the Great Scott and Maiden of the Deep stole the weather gauge and bore down on the unsuspecting Le Protecteur. Despite being the weakest ship in the fleet, and heavily outgunned by her opponents, Protecteur’s crew fought both sides, successfully holding the Sea Rats at bay until the Armina and Justicia could haul to provide supporting fire. Faced with the odds of engaging the whole squadron, the Sea Rats retreated.

And it appears that the teeth of the dragon are more than a match for the cunning of the rat, as the heavily escorted Dragons Teeth convoy was intercepted by this unlucky squadron of privateers out of Bastion.  This led to the loss of all three predators to the heavy Eslandian escorts.  Seeing these prizes being towed into Terreli might have strengthened the resolve of the Trade Companies in ridding themselves of their mad king.

Elsewhere, the Sea Rats had far better luck.  Winning the weather gauge, the Jade Piranha, Darting Frog, and Queen Annetta’s Revenge ambushed a Joint Eslandolan-Corlander squadron comprised of the Dark Narwhal, King Archibald, and Clearance.  The three vessels were quickly separated and, after suffering punishing broadsides, were boarded and captured.  For good measure, the Sea Rats proceeded to capture the Tigerlilly on their way back to the Nest of Thieves.  But this was not the end!  Intercepting the Olean Seven Seas convoy and engaging three escorts, this now infamous squadron managed to force all three to strike. Due to a lack of men for a prize crew, the last capture was left to its own fate.

At the end of the week, Bastion is overflowing with prizes, and the dockyards are working overtime preparing these vessels for new capers in the coming months! Of course, this success is unlikely to escape the notice (and wrath) of Halos' powers. Rumors of large bounties for bringing Sea Rats to justice are already circulating.

FIGHTING FIRE WITH FIRE

In perhaps the greatest heroic tale to come out of Halos, the skiff Small Fishing Boat successfully survived an encounter with the Carno Class 5 Heavy A Santa Maria.  Searching one of the many wrecks that line Carno’s coves, the skiff was taken completely unaware when the Maria cut across the cove’s opening.  Despite much of her crew remaining ashore, the Small’s captain attempted to row past the Carno vessel, hoping to lose it in some nearby shoals.  Unfortunately, the Maria was too quick and began firing on the Small with her cannons.  Unable to respond with anything more than small arms, the Small was quickly boarded, but just as her captain prepared to strike, the Maria broke out in flames. The Small’s shore crew apparently found some jars of Greek fire and managed to lob a few close enough to strike the Maria’s rigging.  With the Maria in chaos, the Small picked up her shore crew and beat a hasty retreat.

CONGESTION AT THE PIERS

With a record amount of merchants calling at Nova Terreli, captains waited for days for an available pier.  The primitive logistics of the colonial port could not keep up, even though every available hand was employed to unload the vast number of ships.  Bars, inns, and less reputable establishments were filling up with sailors and marines from merchants and escorts alike, as were the local detention and hospital.

It is rumoured that old world goods are now cheaper in Nova Terreli than in Halos, and merchants are looking for less travelled ports for better deals in the future.

EXOTIC NO MORE!

Miles and miles around Terreli, even the lowliest farmer can now appreciate exotic foods and trinkets, and cotton prices have plummeted, after the arrival of several large convoys.  Similar tendencies are seen in Granoleon, and some say a colonial bubble threatens to burst with the huge inflow of so-called exotic wares.  In Terreli, one citizen was heard to exclaim: "It's two coconuts and a banana per potato in the markets these days... I much preferred the good old times!"

Will the riches of the colonies prove nothing but a fad?

THE FAVOUR OF THE GODS!

The 4 stars convoy flying the blue of Oleon completed its journey in perfect form, losing not a single vessel.  But perhaps the captains of the Seven Seas escort were not quite as devout, as they appear to have faced the wrath of Ares.  During an attack by a Sea Rat squadron, three large escorts surrendered.  Luckily for King Philip, the pirates had no crew to man the last vessel and left it adrift. Survivors of the Perseverante managed to limp it back to port with their lives, if not their honour, intact.

And I guess I'm done with the MRCA.  Pretty sick of losing ships at this point.

The new system should be coming very soon, so don't give up now ;)

@Bregir When is the result getting added to the Summary?

The Dark Narwhal captured?! There is no way Captain Prows would let that happen whilst he lived.

The Island Rose in Granoleon?! How could a Crahaish neh Triuri ship make profit in a place dominated by the Order of the Faith?

Hasn't shown up for me. Make sure you didn't put a period in my name when making the transfer: it should be Capt Wolf, not Capt. Wolf. Thanks!

Nice first capture for a 2A. :) Quinnsville fleet seems to be getting larger!

The Dark Narwhal captured?! There is no way Captain Prows would let that happen whilst he lived.

That's because I killed him first.

I did loose 3 ships in return though (2 to npc pirates, one to a Sea Rat).  But the recent results are forcing a junkyard trade fleet into a warfleet, as we keep catching armed ships :pir-laugh::pir-laugh:

I`m happy i`ll have some time after the holidays to catch up and build them all / license a heap of them

Also, quick note: I'm glad you used the new features of the forum software to paste a table so it's easy to find out what the indiviual ships made! Has made checking what happened to whatever ship a whole lot easier!

Agreed.  I may not like the results, but at least they were much easier to find.

Also, again, don't give up on the MRCA now, maybe another Sea Rat (I'm looking @Jacob Nion ) can help you out with a few licenses or even already build ships he would have to pay extra to license (As long as you leave my ships alone...)

Also, any SR selling any captured traders?

I am good with the results, aarrrr!

But there is mention of the capture of a corrington skiff "for good measure"

now there's no further mention of it in the prize list.

Ayrlego The Saucy Gibbon   Nova Terreli 166 - Corrington

As awesome as this result is for my little Class 1F, unfortunately the Saucy Gibbon was actually captured by pirates on the last MRCA run... A form was submitted before the final results came in but I made a note in the thread. Sorry for the confusion.

I have an open offer from a certain Sea Rat troublemaker who recently acquired a few spare ships. I'm still mulling it over.

That would be the Tigerlilly. It was captured by your whole squadron, but to prevent duplicates and confusion, we only assigned it under one of your squadron's ships.

If I remember correctly, this refers to the tigerlily captured by your squadron, but attributed to another of the predators.

Well, as far as I remember, there were no enemy ships in that zone at all.

Actually, apart from the small skiffs, I don't recall any traders being captured. The rolls all ended up with the escorts fighting the predators.
