tornado Posted December 10, 2016 Simbang Gabi means "evening or pre-dawn Mass". It refers to the Philippine Roman Catholic tradition of the novena, a series of nine evening or pre-dawn Masses. Some echoed a traditional belief about the novena, that the sacrifice of attending evening or pre-dawn Masses makes it as powerful as a panata, a vow of allegiance made in the hope that one's wishes will be granted by the Holy Infant Jesus.
