Train windows 4033 vs. 6556

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I ordered the purple 6556 windows via Bricklink. When they came I realised that they got ugly circles/points on the right side (molding connection points?)

Do the older 4033 look the same? Do they got also this ugly relicts?

I have the 4033 version in blue from my old 7710 Push Train set.  It doesn't appear to have the injection point circle.

I've checked yesterday on my 4558 and a spare parts set with gray windows (like the ones from the Metroliner), I don't have any injection marks on the front. The spare parts do have clearly visible injection marks on the sides, though.

Btw, looking at this https://www.willhaben.at/iad/kaufen-und-verkaufen/d/lego-eisenbahn-fensterrahmen-10stk-176856483/ it seems quite normal for those dark purple windows to have the sprue marks on the front right side.

The purple windows came out later than the 4033 windows during the time of the Harry Potter theme. I think they were made with a different injection mold.

It looks horrible, indeed... There are at least 2 sides on those windows that are never ever likely going to see daylight again. I wonder why they didn't use any of those for the sprues.

I don't understand why Lego is putting the molding marks in such obvious places on bricks now. These train windows are in line with something I observed in new Bionicle sets where the molding mark was so obvious it was placed front and center in the mask designs. The fact it is happening on train windows to is just bizarre. I wonder what Lego's purpose is for this? Does it help manufacturing in any way?

I realized that they have changed it by tiles. For Ex. the new 1x4 and 1x6 tiles do not have injection points on visible sides.
