Well, here are some calculations of the different R's.

A R104 = 32.75591 Inch.

I hope that the calculating to Feet is right.

@Ludo & @coaster So, with a 4 stud margin on each side (for MILS), that comes up to roughly 9' 1". That's almost as wide as my current layout!!

 

Also, any more teasers to be had there @coaster?

I can't follow your calculation here above (D=(R x 2 + 1) x 8mm / 25.4mm/in).

Could it be you made a mistake in the used numbers (+1 ?)

Example:

R40 curve is the diameter from the circle center point to the center of the track.

To get the outside edge of the curves you need to add 4 studs (from center track to the outer edge of the sleepers) = R+4.

Adding an extra 4 studs for the space between the sleepers edge & the edge of the module(MILS or whatever) result for a R40 curve in: R= 40+4+4 = 48 studs (= gray baseplate)

Full diameter result in 30,23622 Inch or 2,519685 Feet.

 

My calculation for a R168 inclusive the space needed for the sleepers result in 108,3465 Inch or 9,028871 Feet (R = 168 + 4 = 172 studs)

Adding the extra 4 studs space between the sleepers and the outher edge of the module result in 110,8661 Inch or 9,238845 Feet

R = 168 + 4 + 4 = 176 studs.

D = R x 2 = 352 studs

in metric:

352 studs * 8mm = 2816mm or 2,816m

in Imperial :

(2816/25,4)/12 = 9,238845 Feet.

Or am I wrong?

Got the final tooling samples for this initial mold.  Took a little longer than I would have liked, but they look awesome, so well worth the wait.  If you're coming to Brickworld, be sure to find me to check them out.

Next step: release all the models and drawings for the rest of the project.  Time to start playing in the big leagues.

I bought a circle of R56 about a month ago, received them in three days, NICE. I can't wait to see what else you put out cause I'm just gonna keep throwing money at ya whenever I have it. I was in a LEGO store the other day convincing the staff to buy your tracks, and I'm not stopping there!

Forgot to tell, but my fellow LUG members bought some track to show off in the beginning of the year. I must say I was quite impressed with the extremely high level of engineering of the track.

I was one of those guys that ordered ME-models track back in the days (hooray for glue, lots of glue), and I can assure everybody: @coaster's Bricktracks rails are definately from another league!

Any ideas where you will be located at Brickworld?  

And are you going to have the new item and axles there?

I couldn't secure a vendor spot; been on the waitlist for 2 years now.  However, I do have a corner module for the train collab, so I'll be right inside the doors.  I might be floating around throughout the show, but that will be my base.  I will also attend all the train-related topics.

I will have the new item(s) with me as well as prints of what's in the works.  I'm not allowed to vend at the display, but I can certainly bring any orders with me, and I always keep a small stock in the truck.

BMR is doing a pre-order for an exclusive boxcar that can only be picked up at BrickWorld. Can you do something like that? That way you are not vending and can still make some sales. I for one am looking forward to checking out what you have and am already planning to purchase some more of your track.

No, I won't be with NILTC.  There's a LEGO Trains collaboration project that I'm honored to be working on.  It's got a prime location just inside the doors, and I'll have a front corner of it.

There is a "flea market" scheduled.  I suppose I could sell some tracks there.  Otherwise, you're welcome to order some online and just let me know you want to pick it up at BW and I'll waive the shipping charges.

The new parts that I'll have with me are small but useful, but the overall project is large and more useful.

Short straightd are up for sale now!  Shipping will start July 8th.

The packs consist of 1/2, 1/4, and 1/10 lengths.  The 1/10 is certainly an strange size, but it's necessary when working at odd angles or building switch ladders.

They'll all be needed for R104 switches.

Short straights will be handy, all lengths. R104 switches even more so.

When I get the time in a couple of weeks I'll have to work out what I need.....

On a side note, double straights (for a smoother ride) and R72 (for my own selfish needs) would be handy also...

I wonder if a 'double straight' can be done as just a single rail, and we provide sleepers / ballast etc ourselves?
