EV3 GBC starter module?

Recommended Posts

I have recently become interested in the art and science of GBC and I am looking for the best way to start building. One problem though, I don't like to mix my sets :pir-look:.

I have seen some great GBC c-models (such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lb5kTm9Ykn0 ) but unfortunately haven't been able to find any instructions.

In particular I am looking for simple GBC modules made of single sets to study the entire GBC mechanic and learn from it to make my own modules. It doesn't really need to be fancy or cool, just functional and c-model-ish. Has anyone come across something similar? It seems that in all topics I've found, the possibility of making modules as c-models of existing technics sets isn't really discussed.

someone made one out of the arocs, I think.. will see if I can find the video...

to be honest - you'll never be able to make great things unless you start mixing your lego up..

the sooner you let all the 'atoms' mix.. the sooner you'll create amazing things! :)

Don't like mixing sets would limit you but it can be done.  The Bucket Wheel Excavator is good starting point.  It is a set with some minor tweaks will work as a GBC.  You would have to build an input for it to scoop up the balls.

The one from the Arocs that Rohan mentioned is here

and I made one a while ago from the Unimog (the thread even contains instructions - kinda)

But I second what Dr Spock has said: The GBC module is a fickle beast, and limiting your parts palette to only one set makes a challenging topic even more difficult. I wouldn't recommend this for a newcomer to GBC.

thanks

just use my youtube name

I have been attempting to build the modules of Akiyuki in particular the Ball cleaner with EV3 but also other modules, the modules I build have an incredible amount of detail so that they almost look like the original ones, I started GBC back in 2011 with only a couple of modules and about 20 or so gbc balls, ever since then I have been building modules including some from Disney's Frozen. without this passion for GBC I wouldn't be into LEGO.

for the image just use my youtube image

Here are the instructions

They are a ridiculous price so I would not bother

I got them last week and I think it is a good price/quality balance. You get the 3D LDD file which is great. Also they made a good video and nice pictures. I can understand that it takes more time when you want to do it right.

This is the one more specific http://pv-productions.com/product/lego-gbc-10-5-modules-3d-building-instructions/
