1. MTS Dino 5 on a Arocs Longnose

The model is imitating a suction excavator and its functions. It is divided between suck operations and unload the sucked dirt

Suck operations

1st boom raising and lowering by a 2x7 cylinder

Boom rotation by two 2x11 cyilnders and gearracks

2nd boom raising and lowering by one 2x11 cylinder

3rd boom raising and lowering by one 2x7 zylinder

Air outtake by one 1x5 cylinder

Unload the dirt

Stabilizers by 3 1x5 cylinders

raise and lowering the roof by two 1x11 cylinders

raise and lowering the dump container by two 2x7 and two 2x11 cylinders

The compressed air is delivered by a 1x6 double pump compressor powered by a Pf L motor and a standard Battery box

2. AmphiTruck

It is being used for cleaning rivers and lakes.

Of course it's not a copy of smth real, just my own ideas.

4. Scraper Caterpillar

Functions

All functions are pneumatic:

- Steering by 2 pneumatic cylinder V1 2x7
- Ascent and descent of the bucket by 2 pneumatic cylinder V1 2x7
- Ejector are actionned by 2 pneumatic cylinder V2 2x11

Compressed air are produced by a pneumatic pomp small V2 and a L motor.

In front, there is an 6L fake engine pulled by front wheels.

5. Pneumatic Scissor Lift Cart

Functions:

  1. Foot pedal pump action to extend the pneumatics, raising the table.
  2. Hand lever action to retract the pneumatics, lowering the table.
  3. Caster wheels (rears rotate 360 degrees)

7. Pneumatic press

A press is not a very difficult object. It can crush things or get things done by applying enormous pressure (varying from 10-5000 tonnes! but 5000 is extremely much)

some presses have a blast shield so the operator does not get hurt by pieces flying away.

My press

- can Apply up to 5 kg pressure (2 big arocs cilinders)

- Open and close the blast shield( 1 small cilinder)

- A manual positioning system in x- and y-direction. (for/backwards and sideways.)

- Pump is operated manually.

Have you ever wondered how you can pick up that can of your favourite drink (soft or fermented hops) that's about 3ft away ?

Are you the kind of person who says "No, I won't stand up and walk a single step to reach it"

Well then here is the answer for you ... The Claw

 

Functions

Thumb operated pump to open and close "The Claw"

Little finger operated switch to change between opening and closing

 

Description

Size: Width 13 studs, Height 17 studs, Length 104 studs or about 36" !

Weight: 1.194kg

No of Pieces: Unknown (but lots of frames, panels and our friend the black connector)

Pneumatic parts: 1 pump, 1 switch, 4 cylinders, 6 "T" pieces, 4 connectors with axle hole, a few short pipes and 2 very long ones

10. Volvo EW180e excavator

This is a lego model of a volvo wheeled excavator.

Pneumatic:

-First, second sections of the boom ( 2x11 cylinder)

11. LEGO Front Loader Garbage Truck

This model is based on a front loading refuse truck and build to scale with the blueprint in my discussion topic here

It has been designed to be functional so that "garbage" can be loaded and unloaded, and played with by a kid.

Pneumatic Functions

  • Pneumatic pump via M motor
  • Garbage container lifting by two 2x11 cylinders
  • Garbage container fork tilting by two 1x5 cylinders
  • Top door cover by one 1x11 cylinder
  • Rear door control by two medium cylinders (part 2793)
  • Ejector control by one medium cylinder (part 2793)

Other manual functions

  • Rear dual axle suspension with drive train to a six cylinder inline engine
  • Individual front suspension
  • openable doors
  • cabin tilting
  • steering via HOG light

16. Customs Checkpoint - Toll Road

Summary:

This is the first photo with the Customs Checkpoint - Toll Road. It contains: 

- A little house for the customs officer

- The pneumatic driven weighting bridge to weight the trucks with pressure and to decide what they must pay

- Two pneumatic gate barriers so that the vehicles cannot drive through without paying. One passage for cars (only paying) and one for trucks (weightning and paying)

- The roof with lightning: See also the video

This is the weighting system. The big cilinders (for the weighting bridge) are connected to a slim-line cilinder (used for the red pointer) with some tubes. The more weight, the higher the air pressure in the pneumatic system. The higher the pressure, the higher the slim-line cilinder raises (check the second photo for a closer view). 

Through the spring, the slim-line cilinder needs more air pressure, in the pneumatic system, the higher the pointer goes. (Test it by yourself with a Large Shock Absorber. The first time, push the Shock Absorber a little bit and the second time, push the Shock Absorber all the way.)

Conclusion: The more weight on the platform the higher the pointer raises. Look the video for some examples.

 

The last picture is from the office. In the office is a Lego PF L motor which drives two small pneumatic pumps. 

The front thing (I don't know how it's called) can you compare with a crushable zone which are in cars. When you crash into this blok it damps the collision so the shock is less.

17. Dancing Clone Trooper

Description

I made a dancing Clone Trooper.  The strings are moved by pneumatic cylinders, which are controlled by a custom joystick.  Controls:

  • Each leg up/down, independent
  • Each arm left/right, independent
  • Both arms up/down

Powered by two L motors, driving two small compressors.  Two air tanks are incorporated to make the controls more responsive.

18. Pneumatic Lift GBC Module

Functions

  • Transports Soccer/basketballs from an input area 10 bricks high and 10x10 studs wide, to an output of the same dimensions.
  • Can handle balls incoming at 1 ball per second.
  • Powered with a hand-pump on a long umbilical. This is so that at a display it can be powered by the crowd, to make the GBC a more interactive exhibit.

23. Box Factory

Completely useless, but highly fascinating.

The "factory" consists of a 4-step sequencer that actuates:

  1. The box being pushed into the handler
  2. The raising of the handler
  3. The rotation of the handler
  4. The box being pushed out into the handler

Gravity then helps the box back to the first step of the sequence. Here's a movie to show that it actually works, and some detail photos (high-resolution is available on my Bricksafe folder).
