I am starting to think that 42070 was going to be '67, and '69 be the flagship instead, but changed their minds. Or this is to hype the set... :sceptic:

I will ask him about it. From what I have heard he has been way too busy with dozens of LEGO and non-LEGO related stuff. I will ask him if he can make some time to go through the audio files and transcribe them, before it's yesterdays news.

I will seriously try to go through the audiofiles. The question has been haunting me in a Creator Expert topic as well. Time to get it off my list.

Can get 42070 for £149 Toys R Us - I am really considering the set now at that price, even if for the motors, IR and all the parts.. has to be worth it now.?

UK toys r us - 42070 £149 + a £20 free lego gift card, £14.99 worth of free minfigs and a small free mini fig xmas tree. Thats once heck of a deal and I'm grabbing that - keep me going until the mack truck turns up, even if I build it then dismantle for the parts.

If you want it for the PF parts and don't mind getting a second M motor instead of the XL, the 42065 is a better deal.

Yes that is also a great deal for a set with PF - ooh now I need to make my mind up.

@Jim Talking bout reviews in 2018 thread, I have been wondering how comes that Siegfried did the reviews for 2017 1H instead of you?

Well, it was a combination of things. Siegfried had mentioned he was interested in doing the reviews and at the end of last year I was pressed for time (more or less like I am now). Somehow, I am always quite busy at the end of the year.

I have been doing the reviews since there's generally not much interest among other staffers or RA teachers. It's not that I am entitled to the reviews or something. I just have been lucky to be the one in the right place at the right time.

Some quick info about when the 2017 sets will discontinue, so you can get the sets you  want before they'll be gone.
Note that this is just when stores can't order the sets anymore, so you can probably still find them for a couple weeks/months after these dates as the stores sell the last of their stock.

Sets that discontinue in Dec 2018
42055
42057
42058
42059
42060
42062
42063
42065
42064

42068 will discontinue in July 2018

42070 doesn't have a date yet so it's safe to assume that it's going to stick around for 2019 as well.

Why do you need this set (42055) so badly?

It is available for $219 or less online, $219 for 3900+ parts is a good deal.

Yup, but 70% of the parts will probably never be used. I'm not discouraging you, just wondering why you want it. I have bought a second copy for the parts, but in hindsight I could have gotten a lot of specific parts for that money.
(Not sure how big your collection is though. Of course it's a good parts pack)

I wasn't planning on parting out, it is a great play set.

My collection is about 6000+, I don't have tons of money, and I have to service a car... A rc one.

Using: Some of 42055 bulk lot, lots of spare bulk beams, 2000+ bulk pins, 42000, 9394, 42039, and 2 full sets of PF (BB, IR, Remote, XL, L, Servo, M.

Collection for play and shelf: 42054, 8069, 42060, 42071, and 42066 (on the way).

Okay, than it might indeed be a good parts pack

At least you get 50+ frames, which I why I bought it in the first place.

Isn't 42055 the set that gives you most value for your money since like, ever?

About 5 cents per part, it's a great parts pack with its 4k pieces as well, and despite what people may say,  size does matter

Depends on what "value" you base this on.
Price per part is really good.
But price per gramm?
And i guess there aren't many mocs using more than 40 5x7 frames.

So as always: "it depends"
