New TECHNIC sets for 2008

Recommended Posts

Just an add note... :-|

I do believe the blog post would even make the Pocket-link to get more visits (on this topic), they would get otherwise.

Many will go there, coming from different origins, which will never do by other way just because that's the way WWW works and knowladge spreads. :-)

I'd agree with you if you said at the top something like;
Pocket-lint went to the toy fair and saw first hand the current prototype of the Off Roader set. Here are some photos but make sure you go to their site for the full run down and all the photos.
But you didn't do that. Instead you have all their photos hosted on Brickshelf under your name, paraphrase their article and then only at the bottom mention in small type where you found it all. Why would anyone bother going to their site? I bet many people think that they are your photos and that you have first hand information.

Ok, I'll correct in that direction. Thanks for the suggestion.

Please understand that:

- I didn't knew Pocket-lint before and don't know nothing about them (sorry).

- I didn't knew they went into a toy fair to see this model, because it is not written in the post.

- I copied the photos, because there was a significant chance to have them deleted in some time, as it happened before here. Fortunately I had my copies and later had to copy the Images into my BS folder also and change the post. This made, I made it all at once...

I had no bat intention at all with this, and as you can see there are several circunstances which were not written and I wasn't aware. Naturally I could have wriiten many different things, as in all other posts.

There are no few cases where my posts are credited just with a small footnote too at different blogs, and I never saw a problem with that, but Ok I got your point and concern.

Thanks for the information you gave us.

As you wrote it is a pitty they are not specialists (or AFOLs) on these matters, so they could have shot really interesting angles :-( .

And now as I wrote, I'll update the post including part of your suggestions. ;-)

Pocket-lint, Pocket-lint, Pocket-lint *sweet*

On the subject of angles, it's to bad they shot everything except the wheels. Sure would have been nice with some pics of those to see if they are the big ones from 8466 or not. The lights still look nice.

The wheels are 54120 from rear axis on set 8284 (Dune Buggy). It will be the first set that brings 4 of those.

Ok i see.

Well for me the set has pretty much sunk through the floor as far as need is concerned. The lights are nice but not something i'd buy a set over, i've got plenty of PF-elements(own 2 bulldozers), and i prolly have enough parts to build this thing so i could if i only had the instructions (and in time brickley words will have them) so i'll prolly set my sights in either the excavator or teletruck, even though neither is that attractive it would be nice to test those actuators. And those sets prolly wont cost that much.

Maybe there's some other sets to released as well. The 4x4 is only in 8200 so maybe there will be some in 8400 or so. Or then again maybe not.

And if you really want, you can buy just the new Power Functions Kit antecipated above for a much more reasonable price.

With it, you will get both the Lights and Pole Reverser with just a few adds.

Yeah but i have a lot of elements already so my best hope would be if the pole reverser and lights are sold separately, which i hope they will be via S@H. If not i'm not gonna get them. I think. 8-| Thought the same way about the bulldozer. 8-

Thanks for that link, sam. *y*

That offroader looks very smooth indeed.... I never was in Technic, although I like it.

It seems all of my freetime

If you check out Technibricks Here scroll down to a picture of the full contents of the new PF set.

It shows the new shorter universal joints used with the new actuators.

I hope this is not too expensive :-(

Yuo can see one also, on the photo above the Sinner posted. Just behind the Pole Reverser.

More pics from Toy Fair 2008 (NY) at TechnicBRICKs.

Thank you! *sweet* I was browsing your site earlier today and I loved the photos of the contents of 8293... especially the new universal joints! The underside of the Off Roader...

...is a treat as well. Thanks for finding these pictures; they are much better than last time. Nice clear angles. *sweet* (By the way, I agree with you; the function seems to be switched mechanically and the pole reverser is probably just for motor direction.)

8294 Excavator

Anyone know what those cylinders on the arm are?

Not pneumatics since there are no hoses, so what are they and how do they work?

I see an axle hooked up to the back of it, does rotation turn into a sliding motion via an internal worm gear or something?

...if thats what it is... it might be interesting to have ... but sounds like it'd have a lot of friction...

It seems to me you have answered your own question! X-D I believe they are being called "Linear Actuators". The Tele-Handler has the same part.

Nice pictures. :'-)

Based on the pic above one might think that both arm movements on the excavator is controlled from the same wheel. Why else would there be a shift lever?

The actuator's ram appear to be metalic and i for one can't wait for a video. :-$
