The car can stop when something is in front of the car. Tha car is controled by a magnetic strip a la JK Brickworks. The programming is made with LEGO WeDo programming tool.

Can multiple vehicles operate on the same road and in opposite directions?

What devices are you using besides the magnetic strips and WeDo?

Neat. That seems similar to the Faller car system in the world of HO scale modeling. Do you have an ultrasonic or IR detector in hood?

I saw something similar to this, but it hadn't stopping option if something was in front of it:

you can just see the 2 'eyes' of the Wedo sensor in the front, just under the front edge of the bonnet

If you are interested in the technique, please have a look at the "naked" car:

The steering-technique is inspired by JK Brickworks.

There is a light sensor in front of the car, which makes it possible for the vehicle to stop when there are obstacles in front of the car
