Building Mortesv's Nebulon-B Thread

Recommended Posts

I have just ordered the instructions for this beauty and can't wait to start ordering the bricks. One thing, though, that I don't think I can order is the plaque sticker that was mentioned in a previous comment. Does anyone know when it might be available?

Cjd stated he would work one up and add it to the instructions. Also note that there is not a stand as part of the parts list, so you'll need to design your own for the plaque.

Im replacing 4592c05 (lever with LBG base and handle) with 4592c02 (lever with LBG base and black handle). Price difference is $5.00 per part vs 3 cents! 4592c05 is only found with a few sets to include 10179 and 10143. I'm still only on page 4 of pulling parts out of my collection which has been proving to be very time consuming.

Many thanks, Phaelon, for your quick response. No problem with the design for the stand. Can base it on other UCS designs.

This is a work of genius. It will be beautiful when completed.

Bought the instructions myself and I am now trying to decide whether to start this project og do the Cavegod AT-AT... any thoughts on which build is more difficult and which one is more expensive?

Also, will those who bought the instructions already be notified if there are revised versions of the bundle available for download?

And another thing: when the Nebulon-B is complete, how moveable and stable will it be? Can it be easily transported for a long distance (i.e to an exhibit in another city) without breaking apart?

I went out and ordered a 8x16 plate (90498) to be used as a plaque, just waiting for Cjd to come out with a plaque design. Or you can google and there is a plaque sticker of the Nebulon but was done by another creator (LDiEgo).

What I did was to remove the black handle from the LBG base and replace it with a grey piece from another lever. Doesn't matter what colour is the base of the lever, as long as the lever is in grey.

Easy swap! :)

Yes, it can be moved. Put one hand around the middle of the neck and the other just under the big front water tank. Make sure to have a friend standing by, because the stands can fall off and will need to be put back on - and you only have two arms (I assume).

Using the stand I designed the model will be pretty stable. In my experience it is at least as stable as Cavegod's AT-AT.

Uh....that statement does NOT fill me with confidence!

Mortesv,

May I please check where do the minifig barbell (91049) fit in this model? I am looking through the manual and for the life of me, I can't seem to find it!

And if it is an important piece or I can just swap out with a 1x1 round tile instead?

Much thanks!

***DON'T WORRY! FOUND IT AFTER I POSTED THIS QUESTION!***

Just curious why you can't buy it for $0.48? https://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=91049&colorID=67

I am trying to minimise the cost and checking if my current stores have it and if it is worth the trouble to find a new BL store just for these.

Shipping to Asia is not cheap too. :(

Woo! First boxes came in today! Loving this new bricklink even more as I put in the pieces to the "have" section of my wanted list and after just one day of mail, 28% of the Nebulon parts have come in! It's going to be so exciting to see this when it hits the 90s, that will probably be my initiative to start sorting and planning out where I will build my Nebulon

For those of you interested in the sticker, I was stacked today and plan to get it done tomorrow. Before I start, which color would you guys find most interesting for the sticker, blue or green?

Yep, my first orders came in today as well. I just finished verifying everything, and with the exception of having a color mismatch (light gray vs light blue gray), everything was accounted for. What a pain counting all these tinies!

Just a suggestion on the sticker. I know that everybody probably wants a sticker that looks like the Lego USC style but I think that the design should include the following:

"Designed by Mortesv"

"Plans by Cjd223"

This comes from displaying Cavegods AT-AT at shows and I like to give credit where credit is due (and not have to continually explain it). :classic:

A little off track off of the topic and I hope this doesn't turn into a big debate - just my 2 cents.

Back to pulling parts! Up to page 7 now. So far, I'm over 80% of having the parts needed so this will not kill the bank account.

Hi, Cjd. Blue would be a most excellent choice. Can't wait wait to get it. Will you be sending your design to those who have ordered plans?

I think this will be a model for the ages!

Yes, I agree as well!

Oh, and I vote for blue too. :)

TO ALL THOSE INTERESTED IN A STICKER:

I have completed the sticker and attached a preview of it below. As requested, both mortesv and myself are included on the sticker as contributors. I recommend that you print this at 122mm width by 61mm height and place it on a black 8 x 16 road tile like most of the recent UCS sets. Just click on the photo to go to my flickr page. From there download the full size photo (3840 x 1920), it will be easier to do in Chrome. Take a look:

Looks great! If I could offer one suggestion... could you change "Instructions and Sticker by Cjd223" to "Documentation by Cjd223", and maybe move it down to the bottom right corner? "Sticker" sounds very Duplo to me. If you want to keep something like that in there, then at least change it to "decal".

Also, though it's used as a medical frigate in ESB, it could also be used as an escort frigate. Perhaps drop the "medical" adjective?

I was on the fence but succumbed! :classic: Congratulations on such an amazing project!

Has anyone made a .bsx file with the parts list you would be willing to share?

Thanks!

I have an XML file that I am waiting to send to Cjd so he can distribute it as part of the package.

I managed to transfer the parts list to a .bsx file. I am going to incorporate the changes you pointed out earlier on and then I will forward to Cjd as well. Need to get those trans-clear cylinders back I'm afraid ;-)!!

Cjd suggested light bley for all of them. I went ahead and got some black. I'm sure dark gray will work too. Either way it should be added to that list, as you said.
