What's Next After the Build?

Lack of shelf space is a problem I know very well. I can have only a few models on display at a time (still gathering surprising amounts of dust though 8-

Very diverse collection. What makes these sets special?

When I got my Indy sets I reinacted the scenes! Who hasn't? :-D

I`m putting them on the shelf as long as the storage space allows it, but take them apart and take the bricks/parts into my Lego Storage Boxes (unsorted) and building a bigger Moc when I'm into Ideas and LOTS of time. So I checked Other things in the Poll.

I voeted for "Swooshing" and "Playing ventriloquist." Then I put it on my shelf to admire, then see what MOCs I may be working on and incorperate parts of the set (i.e. removing a cool roof and putting it on), and helping finish the MOC.

I voted Deviant Things, because most of my things aren't on a shelf. They're on the floor set up as a small city with the trains rolling around. Well, that might be swooshing things around. I should have thought about my vote... :-$

Either who got them for me (my kids) or my vast Geekinees.

Millenium Falcon ~ This is V2 and it's my all time fave.

B-Wing ~ Also V2, I've always loved it because it's so unique.

Graveyard Duel ~ The BEST HP set out. Love It! *wub*

Hogwarts ~ I got it for $22 @ Target, such a good deal I CAN'T put it away

JSFs ~ I'm actually addicted to them

Doc Ock's Hideout ~ I honestly have NO IDEA. I'm not even sure i like it :'-(

Ahw! There's too many I would choose!

Here's what I would do:

Begin taking pictures of them for an image review on EB (+10 points for this one).

Roll around on the floor with them (almost like you are wrestling with your set).

*Put them nicely on the bookshelf like TheBrickster so they could collect dust.

*This was my ultimate choice as I like to display them, but I also like to play with them. I feel like they are meant to be played with!

after i build a set or MOC, i never take it apart, or use the pieces for another build... so my creations end up collecting dust on shelves - i display them like works of art or sculptures.

my trouble is figuring out how to de-dust them. i usually wash my LEGO creations about once every 4 months. now my GF makes fun of me :-D

After building a set, I will inevitably start picking off the best parts for my own MOCs until there isn't much left. Of course, there are some sets that I simply won't dismantle. For the most part though, a set is a parts source for me.

As tempting as it was to pick "Display them with treehouses and walruses in a playful Hinkly fashion." in reality I am more of a player than a displayer. Thus I picked "Swoosh the parts around playing "ventriloquist" with the minifigs." To assist this, when possible I take my latest set wherever I go until I get another! :-D I have spots reserved in every room where I leave them. The obvious exclusions are the bigger sets. I used to do that as well, but after dropping half of Vladeks Dark Fortress down the stairs I tempered my sillieness a tad. :-$

My current drag-around-the house set in the Indy Race for the Stolen Treasure one. I have replaced the box with the ark though, and Marion is in the back as well. *wub*

Although I was forced to break down all my SW sets last week, since I'm moving out. Such a shame :-(

No one answer applies really. At the moment, I mostly buy sets I particularly want as they will add to the town project we're building in some fashion. Amongst kits the kids receive, unless they're really dire, I try to encourage them to build them and keep them intact, whilst making sure I continually pick up a selection of different bricks and parts for them to be creative with their own designs and ideas. I also get plenty of stuff off of Bricklink to use on my MOCs.

At the moment, there are so many kits I want that I am working my way through the list. Eventually I hope to be at the point where I can buy multiples of some kits, in order to build the alternate versions for variety.

So, in summary - build them, play with them I suppose.

Actually, I was looking for that one too... When I finish building a set, I turn it around and around and again to see what I can modify to improve the look of it and only whan that's done I put it on a bookshelf to collect dust... And boy, do they like it... It seems that their collection of dust is getting bigger than my collection of LEGO :-|

Hopefully, half of them are in a window, so I don't have to dust them all. And then, from time to time I swoosh them and play ventriloquist and later on, cannibalise them to improve some other models.
