[PORSCHE] LEGO Technic Porsche of Your Dreams

Recommended Posts

I actually AM a student... I think as an engineering major, I have LESS time than someone with a regular job, what with 20+ hours of homework in a regular week.

Hmm. The contest is open to LDD entries too.

"Unfortunately" I'm not unemployed nor a student, so I don't know if I'll have the time to do anything. But allowing LDD gives some hope.

But do you have school in the summer too?

Did you notice how the actual rules don't state it needs to be a Porsche car? What I mean is, who will be the first to submit Tiger (P)? ;)

Unlikely that any of those will be accepted.

LEGO Rebrick legal page

• Entries with military themes will not be eligible for the Contests.

Is this possibly a remake with 41999 ... or TLG looking for inspiration ?

Hmm might enter this. Wonder if anyone will make the Porsche tractor ?

Time to check the rules to see if I'm allowed to enter

Was there ever a Porsche in the 007 movies? ... Maybe a spy version of the car could be an option.

It says multiple entries are allowed, so I was thinking of building a Porsche car as well as a tractor as two different entries

No there hasn't been a Porsche as a Bond car or a Bad guys car

I'm going to attempt to build the Porsche I wanted to buy and almost did a few years back but now they're too expensive.

Anyone know what the max dimensions now work out as as studs ?

I don't think anyone will have problems with the maximum dimensions. The most restrictive of the limits is probably length, and 60cm works out at around 1:7.5 (assuming a 4.5m long car). If you want to go big, just build 1:8 with 80-90mm wheels.

If the contest had been opened to creator style, i would have built something: a 962 / 917 combo with 919 livery.

Thanks for posting this Mike! This will be a very interesting contest.

...after which a panel of guest judges (who you might know) including: Eurobrick’s Jim Van Gulik, Fernando de Carlos of Sheepo’s Garage, and TechnicBRICKs’ Fernando Correia, will select 20 semi-finalists.

Oh by the way, sending me LEGO will miraculously improve your chances

(just kidding of course)

Hehe

I know as much as you do, so I need to take a close at the rules myself.

I checked by commenting on the official page. It can be anything - an existing model, a mashup of multiple models or something completely new as long as it's Porsche-like. Also, military stuff is banned, so no Tigers unfortunately...

Attempt 1 was approx 1:8 scale but couldn't get the suspension, steering or diff to work on the narrow width.

Attempt 2 with unimog wheels ... I had a lovely front and rear suspension sub models working and then suddenly realised it was a bit big.

Not feeling the love so not sure if there will be an attempt no 3

According to Sariel's converter:

25x75x37.5 studs

Based on the math of 7.8mm per stud, it seems closer to H25, L76, W38. Does this look right to others? Edited by Thirdwigg
