With 75149 been offically released, now the consumers can choose 75102 or 75149. Both 75102 and 75149 has the same minifigure amount, similar build and similar price tag (For some country). Which X-Wing is better in your opinion, and why?

I prefer 75149 for several reason, First better mini- figure selection, I prefer the Lor San and Flamethrower trooper over an extra X-wing Pilot and Mechanic from 75102. Second is the color scheme. I prefer the more traditional X-wing colors to the Black and Orange version. The builds are very similar so that really is a moot point for both. I know this is sort of weird way of looking it at but I think the 75149 would be considered Poe's real X-wing because he was using it at the begging of the movie. The only reason he has the 75102 is because his original got destroyed.

I like both. I like the colors of both and the minifgures of both.

I just finished building my 75149 this morning. Both sets are amazing in my opinion, probably my favorite builds from TFA sets. I do prefer the 75149 mainly because of the colors, but the colors on the 75102 are also slick, I just lean towards the bluish Grey.

I will cast my vote but ultimately I think everyone should own both sets!

I like 75102 because it's new. New color scheme instead of the traditional blueish gray base paint as most of the others. 75149 is blue and gray, but still the same gray base. I think the black and orange compliment each other very well. Plus the alien mechanic that comes with 75102 is a nice addition to all the human figs that we get most of the time.

Has it ever occured to anyone that the colours of Poe's X-wing - black (or very dark grey) and orange - inverted get you to the standard Resistance X-wing colour scheme - white (or light grey) and blue, and vice versa! Try it out for yourselves in a graphics tool.

don't own any of them, I prefer the 75149, just the traditional colors look better than orange and black, I have nothing against the color scheme. I think black and orange looks good when it is next to the standard color scheme, not by itself. Wish they would explain why he chose new colors.

Mind blown .. good observation DarthTwoSheds.

I like 75102 better. I for one really like the orange and black colour scheme, maybe just me though. 75149 is very overpriced in the UK, a baffling £10 more than 75102 which I can't understand.

So who's going to be the first to build both a Light grey and orange X-wing, and a blue and black one?

Further more, will a blue and black one work like "that" dress and appear white and gold to some observers?

I know it's not the question but, although I enjoyed TFA, I much prefer 9493 to either of these. Sorry...

Are they built the exact same, just with different color parts?

Pretty much. 75149 has a removable engine. Different mini figs and accessories.

First post. Giving the edge to 75102 because of Poe in his flight suit, the maintenance worker, and the servicing cart. Some areas on the wings (namely the underwing blue accents vs. the orange ones) use fewer, simpler parts; as do the angled plates placed vertically behind the canopy and stud shooters. Looks like some angled plates are more available in orange than in royal or sand blue. But I like the blue-and-grey colors of -49 much more.

As a pretty big X-Wing fan, I did not get any of these 2 sets, nor do I have the intention to. They don't really look like the new movie models, especially with the shape of the cockpit and the foward hull. Between the two I would go with probably the resistance one, more generic color scheme, mini fig wise it's more specialised with Lor San Teka.

I also like the black and orange color scheme on 75102. But the thing I don't understand is the price tag on 75149 in some countries. Both 75149 and 75102 has a similar part count and the main build (The X-Wing) is almost identical.

I chose the Resistance X-Wing, cause it looks better to me, and has parts that I would use. The orange/black color scheme of 75102 seems too garish, better suited for a podracer. And I rarely ever use black parts, except for the stand, or as an accent color.

Poe's X-Wing because it's movie accurate. The Lego Light Bley was never good on X-Wings and never will be. If I want a movie accurate white X-Wing I'll get the 9493.

Although I somewhat agree the original X wing looks better in white, even though they were more like a dirty white/light gray in the movies , the same can't be said about the new T-70 x wing starfighters. They were clearly gray under the sun, so if Lego were to make a white resistance X wing it would be 100% inaccurate to its movie counterpart. I'm glad they went with the real colors.

Here's a picture showing the true colors of the resistance T-70 x wing.

Now, if you have both plus the microfighter. Which figure should pilot the blue one. Snap? Rebel pilot? Or just keep the Poe figure in it?(there can be only one Poe!) ;)

Put him in the sf tie fighter, he's always wanted to fly one of those things.
