Garmadon Posted June 5, 2016 After having his honorable suite ignominiously rejected, the King of Carno decided it was high time to be getting back home to his capital. Leaping onto his charger, he tore out of Bellson in a whirling hurry, without any intention whatsoever of slackening his pace until he was seated in his throne, and had time to sit back and contemplate recent events - also known as, his complete failure. The king was charging through a pine tree forest on his return to Carno when he happened to hear some rustling in the underbrush. Suddenly a troop of Corrington's finest poured out of the forest at his flanks, leveling their rifles and running towards him. Figuring (and correctly so), that the escort was not meant as a piece of courtesy on the part of Queen Annette, the king relieved the closest soldier of his shako with a hearty swing of his cane - the soldier, of course, stooping down to lift it from the ground (everyone knowing that a Corry is no good unless his uniform is all correct and tidy) - and, setting spurs to his horse, burst through the ambush. Turning his head back for a moment he exclaimed (without slowing his charger a bit), "Corrington, prepare for a visit from my Captain Whoknowswho! And you can't say we didn't warn you!" The king: My build for the Carno vs. Corrington case, including the required palm trees. This is actually the second part of our collab, and the first and third should be coming soon! Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
Capt Wolf Posted June 5, 2016 Fabulous scene! Love the pine trees! Good figure posing, too. And I'm going to have to try out that road technique sometime. Well done!
TitusV Posted June 5, 2016 Great pines, and the road is also very cool!
Kai NRG Posted June 6, 2016 Very nice build, the road technique works nicely here, and I really like those trees! Really like the last picture of just the king!
Garmadon Posted June 8, 2016 Fabulous scene! Love the pine trees! Good figure posing, too. And I'm going to have to try out that road technique sometime. Well done! Thanks Capt. Wolf! I thought it was about time I tried Kai's technique out - and you'll notice I (wisely) went for a relatively small footprint with it ! Great pines, and the road is also very cool! Thanks Titus! I believe this is my favorite version of these pine trees as of yet! Very nice build, the road technique works nicely here, and I really like those trees! Really like the last picture of just the king! Thanks Kai, I was quite happy with how that shot turned out as well!
Captain Dee Posted June 18, 2016 Very nice action scene for the build-off. Those pine trees look nice and add much depth to the whole scene - perhaps you could show how you built them? But I must confess to being puzzled by the two trunks on the right, unless the one is supposed to be dead or something. The road technique looks good and the posing of the minifigs is great. It's a nice continuation of the first part, although the king's solitary travel seems really risky and really dangerous, as shown here. Apparently he just likes living on the edge. Overall a fine project.

Overall a fine project. Thanks Captain Dee! It's a bit of a complicated technique, but I'll see if I can remember to do a tutorial for them next time they pop up in one of my builds! The two trunks on the left - well, this technique is awfully piece consuming! Two pine trees is about my max now, but I did want the third trunk (especially for closeup shots) to give it a bit more of an immersive forest feel. The king - yes, he likes living on the edge! I definitively did envision him as a rather eccentric character, but he also discovered the impossibility of building a royal carriage on a 20x20, and thus was rather... restricted! I did build half of a carriage (though Kai had already warned me about the probabilities of getting it to fit ), but gave up once I discovered that, minus the harness and horses, it was already too large for the base! Thanks again though!
Captain Dee Posted June 18, 2016 Ahh... that makes perfect sense. Yeah, a decent horse-drawn carriage takes space! If it makes you feel any better, I didn't quite have enough room either. I would've preferred a few more studs each way, as I didn't have nearly enough space for all the minifigs I really wanted to use. But I suppose that's all part of the challenge. Elostirion Posted June 20, 2016 A great scene. I love the trees, and the action is displayed really nicely.
