Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion

Recommended Posts

I was at a Toysrus yesterday and they had three boxes out at the service desk. I ended up feeling every single one just to find the three I wanted. There were about 5-10 people looking through them in the span that I was there. The first two boxes were heavily picked over. It was interesting to see what people weren't buying. Most of the Mickey, Minnie, Daisy and Donald's were still present (At least 1/2 to 3/4 were still there). The Toy Story Alien was also almost all there but I found Buzz only a few times. About half the Mr. Incredibles and Syndrome were gone, but most of the people who were feeling the packages were asking about Mr. Incredible. About 1/3 of the Ursula's were left, but I only found two Ariel's. I found only three Alice's and Cheshire, similar number of Hook and Pan. So those seem to be bought in pairs. I found no Maleficent's out of all three boxes.

It's interesting, but it seems like the 50's characters and the Little Mermaid characters were the only consistent sellers of each box.

Went to Lego Store Dallas today. Saw about 5 different adults picking through them. I felt my first pack and could tell by the two daggers attached to the sprue that I had found Peter Pan. He was my primary goal, so it was luck. I was also seeking a Mickey, because a relative collects all things Mickey. Another one of the people heard I was looking for him, and he offered me one that he found since he did not want any further Mickeys. I was very appreciative of that. On the US S@H site, they are already "Sold Out". Considering the heavy activity around this series and the popularity of the characters, I would be shocked if they did not continue making this series. Imagine the sales that the Disney Stores in Anaheim and Orlando as well as stores inside the parks could make from these. If this is it, there will be a lot of anger from people who would have wanted one, and Disney and Lego both would be leaving a lot of money on the table---which is not something either would like to do. Making more is a win-win situation for Disney, Lego, and collectors. Resellers, not so much :hmpf_bad:

These things are selling like crazy! Had to go to a few stores to find all 18 as I was finding lots of empty boxes. It's great to see these are selling well as it makes a Series 2 more likely! Overall I'm very pleased with this series. Being a huge Disney fan, it's a dream to have these characters as minifigures. Love them love them love them!!!

Not sure if it's better or worse to live in a rural area. On the one hand, there aren't as many people that might buy the box out, but I only have one source to get my minifigures. When my local Walmart doesn't have them, that will probably be it. Glad they got them early. This is the best series yet! I'm blowing a hole through my pocket because I feel like I have to get every minifigure!

Walmart had a box and I picked up 5 packs, decided to go back this morning and only 15 were left so picked those up. Have some double's and still need 7, where is a good trading site for these?

I went to my LEGO store today, and there were so many people there feeling for Minifigs. Out of the 8 boxes the Lego store had, they sold out about 40 minutes after they opened. I was lucky to get Stitch, Ariel, and two Toy Story Aliens. After that, I walked over to the Disney Store and found a half empty box on one of the shelfs. I was able to get Buzz, Cheshire Cat, Aladdin, and Mickey.

You might try right here on the forums, or Swapfig.com.

From my experience.... pretty awful.

That's just the MOA Store, though. I really need WALL-E still, and every time I've gone to get it, it's gone, and every time I am not able to get it and go, they have it. It's painful.

I picked up all the ones I wanted yesterday (Sunday, 1 May) at a WHS: Stitch, Ursula, Ariel, Maleficent, Syndrome, Alice, Genie and Peter Pan. :sweet:

When I got there early-to-mid afternoon, they only had one box with the packets split between two sets of tills. I don't know if they had had more earlier in the day but I have a feeling that they hadn't. Before I got there, I was concerned that any boxes would be picked apart, but that didn't seem to be the case. They didn't appear to be selling all that well.

I'm pretty adept at identifying blind-packaged minifigures by feel but even if I were not, this series seems particularly easy to feel.Through touch alone or a combination of touch and deduction, you can work out what each one is. For example, only three have short legs: Stitch, Alien and Cheshire Cat. Of those, only Stitch has big ears. Another example, only two have square tiles, Mr Incredible and Syndrome, of which only Syndrome has a bumpy hairpiece.

I have watched a few Youtube reviews of the series and would like to point out that "Cheshire" as in Cheshire Cat rhymes with "pressure", not "transpire".

Ugh. I'm really hoping this series ends up like Series 15 where they end up having a surplus by the end of the hype. None of my local Targets have them. My local Lego store has 24 left which is given they sold through over 7 and 1/2 boxes means it's the bare bones of what's left and it's just not worth my time to hope I get the 10 I want out of that(2 are for my Mom). My current plan is just call every week till they have at least 1 full box and it is on my day off where I have time to go down and search for what I want.

Worst case scenario is secondary market at a markup.

Oh I'm sure there will be extra by September.

Some people in my family are huge Disney geeks (I believe my aunt and uncle head to Disney every year!) and so I wonder if they'd be interested in these.

Got all the ones I really wanted today when the local LEGO Store opened. There were many people there feeling the packages, and we helped each other find missing characters.

Found a box of these at my local TRU today, but all the crazy new molds completely threw me off  .

I finally found them for the first time today in a Toys R Us. I think collectors and scalpers in the Bay Area are out in force with this series.

They only had one box that was about 3/4 full, and all the Maleficents had been sniped from it.

This series is easy to feel though so thankfully it only took me ten minutes to find the ones I wanted (Alice, Cheshire, Stitch, and Ursula).

My local Lego store was sold out in the afternoon (s15 out in bulk). They said the next expected shipment was due in a week and a half. *shrugs*

got mine out of layaway, and only made one mistake. got two genies instead an aladdin. will go back at some stage and try again.

mine all appear to have ok prints... no squinty mickey at least. im not liking how the clutch between the legs and torso is affected by the new skirt pieces. other than that, very impressed by the whole set, the detailing and representation of the characters so many people cherish around the world.

I found them at my local Walmart, but had to pass because I'm broke. It's my own fault though. LEGO and theatre are not compatible hobbies.

One costs a lot, the other makes no money.

I'll get some eventually.

Found some at Target... Interestingly enough, they were behind the electronics desk and the guy said they had a strict limit of 4 per household. Was a bit pressed for time, so I just grabbed 4 random bags. Got Mickey, Genie, Peter Pan, and Ursula. :sweet:

Both must live together in harmony. Great movies are worth it. :)

Make sure to check your boxes , if buying a full one !!!!! I went to chapters here in windsor ,ontario (canada) and they had gotten 4 full boxes , they had put 2 out , so when i went in ,the lady got a box from the back ,opened it and i had told her theres 60 in there ,so she rang em up and when i got to my car i decided to count them , good thing too ,the box only had 57 , so i went back in ,the cashier counted too and sure enough ,only 57 , and when i asked if they had any more full boxes, and she said they had one , so she got that one out and we counted them before i even left ,and ONLY 58 in that one ????? So out of the opened displayed ones i got two extra from there , but ended up missing out on my third ursula :( When i felt thru the two i got to choose (i didnt have much time ) i did manage to get the mr.incredible i needed ... But geeeeez :(

So, I went to the LEGO store after work tonight and got all 18 minifigures in about 30 minutes :) almost happy... I figured I need 2 more aliens and a new Alice due to a printing error on the bottle :-/ But I was quite relieved that nearly all figures had decent printing.

My favourites after seeing them in person are: Stitch (from the first day I saw him!), Aladdin, Minnie, Arielle, Alien and Maleficent. Not the biggest fan of the series all in all, but there are definitely some outstanding minifigures here.

Wow, you get all 60 figures for your collection? I wish I could afford to do that.
