Finding a painting without knowledge of the painter or the event... eish, you guys like challenges don't you?

Found quite an interestin website while I was doing a search for the artist. Might be useful for people... www.uniformology.com

Other than that, no luck finding the artist, seriously needle in the haystack stuff this.

A very nice rendering of that scene, although some more variety of MF heads could be interesting, though.... *sweet*

You're right ...

For a short time I've thought it maybe a painting by Guiseppe Rava, who is also the painter of my avatar.

I've taken a look on his side. But I've found no evidence for my assumption ...

From the style point of view it maybe. Also he is one of the coautors of the side I've taken the picture from.

So far we can only use the text on the side beside the picture:

In 1814 at the battle of Arcis-sur-Aube Napoleon was knocked off his horse by a bursting Austrian shell and disappeared in the smoke. Then he got up - unhurt.

Hmm, on this website?

http://napoleonistyka.atspace.com

This is near bloody impossible to find. Interesting commentary about Napolean, seem to recall something like that happened to William of Orange prior to the Battle of the Boyn, the Catholic Alliance fired a shell that hit him but didn't kill him. If only the Dutch had had him around at the time of Napolean.

Ah this looks like a good set up of MF's! *y*

Only the baseplate might need some more green, some bushes a broken wheel...

I really like those brown torso's, but i don't see any white in the painting. (not wearing my glasses, so that could just be me :-D )

Another nice addition for our Index: MOCs based on paintings.

I'm glad I was not hurt ;-)

It looks just great. You should make the guy in the middle holding the pole stick the pole out front.

Thank you Zorro.

I've updated the Index of MOCs based on Paintings Thread accordingly.

It was labeled as unknown artist and painting.

Always glad to help out a fellow member!

Me and my dad are true art lovers, and we have LOADS of books and "stand-ready knowledge" available, if you want any others, we will have a look at them. (this one luckily didnt take very long because i am a fan of him :pir-grin: )
