For a short time I've thought it maybe a painting by Guiseppe Rava, who is also the painter of my avatar. I've taken a look on his side. But I've found no evidence for my assumption ... From the style point of view it maybe. Also he is one of the coautors of the side I've taken the picture from. So far we can only use the text on the side beside the picture: In 1814 at the battle of Arcis-sur-Aube Napoleon was knocked off his horse by a bursting Austrian shell and disappeared in the smoke. Interesting commentary about Napolean, seem to recall something like that happened to William of Orange prior to the Battle of the Boyn, the Catholic Alliance fired a shell that hit him but didn't kill him.
