A recent discovery as the Corrington ships journeyed past the known mapped edges of the Sea of Theives, the settlement of Quinnsville was founded by the captain of one of the exploring ships, Sir Thomas Smaugton.
Sailing under both the flag of the Empire of Corrington, as under the MAESTRO trade company, it is only logical that both will have a strong representation in the settlement as it grows hopefully in a busy harbour and centre of commerce.
The city is protected for now by a small fortress on her western side, but garrisons are under way to add some protection from possible natives and budding neighbours.

The port is gearing towards two very important inland products to export: chocolate and coffee. Or as the new mayor was heard saying, "I smell coffee in that grove!".

The Banner of Quinnsville, nicknamed `The White Bra` apparently (and out of earshot).
Feel free to use this if you want to place builds in the city.

Tigerlily - 1 Well Rounded - bought from BrickOn - Captured by Sea Rat player MkJoshA
HMS Pendragon - 6th rate Ship of the Line (5HA for now) - Captured in the ESL - MAR war by Sea Rats

These are all those small ships that become unloved by their owners as they move to greater vessels, and will sail again one day in the collection of driftwood called the Junkyard Fleet of Quinnsville. They might not make the long glorious voyages of the Terramen, but at least they won`t be forgotten in the game that way and still play along, no matter how small a footnote in the history of Brethren of the Brick Seas they will become.

While licensing them is an expensive venture as it takes me far beyond my "base price" 3 slots, I am planning of filling all 11 of my personal available slots with these small class 0 up to 2 vessels eventually (as funds become available over time). As such, I can`t really pay a purchase price for the ships, my payment is the fact that you can unlicense them to free up one of your three "base price" slots again to put in a ship far more usefull in the metagame. But instead of the ships becoming forgotten in the Ship Index with zero chance of ever getting relicensed by the player in question, they will have the prospect of sailing in the MCRA again, proudly remaining a part of the tales told.

So if you have any of those small trader vessels or armed galleys that are just lying around, devoid of hope to shine in the light one day, send them over to Quinnsville, Cocovia. Here they will be lovingly restored to their glory.

Also, for NONE of these donated ships, the sistershipping rule will be used by me. If they ever get sunk, captured, auctioned off as prices by pirates or whotnot`s that remove them from my ownership, their story has truly and gloriously ended. See it as a way of "closure" for that little build you made the day you set out to sea.

It's good to see this getting started so quickly. Of course having several completed builds ready to add helps matters a lot!

Some people may call the Quinnsville banner "the White Bra" but I think I'll just call it "Intimissimi." :pir-laugh:

LaLaLand :pir-wink: The Chocolate Island promises to be exciting. I need to build something there...

I so have fun ideas with this island selection churning in my mind now... coffee plantations, chocolate stores (I`ve just placed an order for the new Elves tile)

Now just need to take some more project pictures, but I expect a full city picture of phase one coming soon :-)

For those intrested in `evolving` the settlement, I now have added a small table with the amount of properties needed, and of which `sort` they have to be licensed, to go from her current level (lvl 1 hamlet at time of writing) to the next level (lvl 2 Town) in the future.

Just because, well, I like to keep her record straight and tidy that way and have a good oversight hehehe, a mayor has to do *something* in his job after all

From Felipe de la Manzana,

"To Lord Smaugton,

I am here to meet the scientists you promised me to hire. I hope you found them all.

I also encountered a young fisherman named santiago I helped to settle.

I hope you will welcome him and help him develop the wharf to transform it into a great commercial port.

Friendly yours.

Senor Felipe de la Manzana"

So here is my first part of the collaboration : a fisher wharf in Quinnsville.

Financial Status of MAESTRO Corrington

MAESTRO Corrington`s financial status is used for the purchase and investment in MAESTRO owned vessels.

Current capital: 160 DB

But WHAT is in it for you?

As the first cross-faction trade company in the New World, becoming a member of MAESTRO has several benefits.

First of all, you will be part of a company that can request the protection of no less then TWO nations that ply the oceans, and as such have access to all the ports which allow trade from either Eslandola or Corrington.
In addition, and overtime, we are looking to make the cities and settlements of MAESTRO tuned in to each other to maximise the profit that can be brought in between both sides of the Company.

BUT, there are also some great benefits we can offer right away

The Fleet of MAESTRO Corrington

El Rubi - 4T2 Trade - licensed for MAESTRO
Puppy Hustler - 3T2 - licensed for MAESTRO

For all our Corrington members:

* Allowance to build Educational structures in any MAESTRO settlement and location in Eslandolan territory, which will be protected by the governor`s of the settlement. All members from Corrington that want to join the MAESTRO Trade Company of Corrington are required to build a Licensed, Small Residence, located in Quinnsville, within the first 3 months of joining the company.
In other words, for a mere 5 DB of one time membership fee, a new market is open for you to spread our scientific knowledge!

For all our Eslandola members:

* The crown of Corrington has granted discounts on the fee for being part of the Corrington Escorted Trade Fleets. As a compensation, the Queen has decreed that in order to benefit of this discount, MAESTRO Eslandolan Branch MUST provide a build for the settlement of Quinnsville every month they want to benefit from this free admission, from any of the possible to be licensed properties EXCEPT a Residence. As an added generous offering from her Majesty The Queen, the royal treasury of Corrington will License this property.
So while you build an expansion for the Corrington branch of the Trade Company, and get the doubloons for building it, you don`t have to spend them on the licensing cost!

So don`t doubt any longer, and join MAESTRO today!

The Junkyard Fleet of Quinnsville

It can be lonely out on the seas to be fishing all day long, in an effort to get some minor incomes.

Pirates sail the seas, and if a single daring one stumbles upon you, Poseidon is awaiting you with open hands.

So for that reason, Quinnsville, the headquarters of MAESTRO Corrington, together with it`s MAESTRO Eslandola companions, is setting out to offer some armed protection to these little class 0 fishermen, with the organising of a small Bounty Run under armed protection.

WHO can join?

In order to join the collective bounty run effort, anyone can enter these bounty runs with their class 0 or class 1 ships IF you are:

* a Member of MAESTRO (doesn`t matter which side of the brand, being it either Corrington or Eslandola)

* a citizen of Corrington (as the crown grants the use of the armed protection for this endeavor)

HOW to join?

Just put the name of the class 0 or class 1 vessel you want to join in the expedition, in the relevant topic. Entering closes the 29th of the month. (RL things make me fill out the forms 2 - 3 days in advance)

Donating to the Junkyard Fleet event

Okay, just those you don`t care anymore about then pirate_cry4.gif

See it as a way of "closure" for that little build you made the day you set out to sea.

For those that want to make a final build with their little ships, I also created this little "event". It has no beginning or end date as it ain`t a mini-challenge, but more of a lifetime offer...

The Event:

For every builder that makes a small MOC taking place in Quinnsville, and which revolves around that player coming to the "center of coffee making" on Cocovia to hand over those little unwanted ships to the Junkyard Fleet, a small financial fee will be payed out by the Quinnsville bank.

Rules:

There are no size restrictions

Builds can be either physical or LDD

There is no limit of one entries per person, but obviously every ship can only be brought in once pirate_laugh_new.gif

Captains of every nation can send in their small ships.

There is no current end date for this event.

A link to your entry must be posted in this thread, OR in the Quinnsville settlement thread. Since it takes place in that town, the event entries will be placed there in "other MOC`s" category, aka the one I can`t go and license afterwards, but are just part of the story of the town and her driftwood fleet.

The Rewards:

Every player that builds a MOC for this event, will receive a reward of 5 doubloons from the Quinnsville town bank.

The Quinnsville Chronicler, issue 1

Your all new, totally random appearing, short newspaper for the Pearl of Cocovia

Great news for Quinnsville economics!

Today has been a joyous day for our town, the capital of coffee and chocolate.

Our esteemed trade partners from MAESTRO Eslandola have raised a plantation in town, the first to be added to the town registrary. This palmwood plantation will allow our shipbuilders to replenish stocks for the Junkyard Fleet, and repair the little ships as they arrive in dismissal condition to our harbour.

The Fingernail sails!

As a direct result of this, our shipwrights have managed to repair the former Oleon vessel `Fingernail` to sea-worthy status. However, her master might be a little to hotheaded, as rumour has it she will go on a maiden voyage around half the known oceans unescorted. Though his reasoning might be correct in that such a little vessel probably won`t even be noticed by the sharks of the sea, some concern has arissen with the local naval board. On the other hand, if he makes it safely to his destination, the oceans might be open indeed to have ships plying around without the heavy protection they have today...

The town expands even further

Today, we welcomed Captain Bran, master of the Queens Shade, a merchant vessel, to our Pearl of Cocovia. He has settled down with us, planning to conduct some business in our region, while awaiting the opportune time for expanding the greatness of Corrington into the east, and provide even more riches for the crown.
In order to store his goods, a landslot has been granted and a warehouse has been erected to this end. We wish him all the best in his endeavours, and may the doubloons come in in his favor.

Cabbages available

Luuk Luchtwandelaar has informed us that the crops are going well, and soon the people of Quinnsville can relive a "little bit of home" as the green cabbages will be available for consumation.

Captain Bran settles in Quinnsville

The esteemed Captain Bran, who had arrived last month at our town`s port in his vessel the Queens Shade, has become so enamoured with our coffee that he has decided to settle down permanently in the Pearl of Cocovia. Please feel welcome to drop by his newly build residence, found in the eastern part of town.

Raising the Defences

Apart from the small fortress that manned the town entrance, thanks to Bran we now have a second fortress defending our town from any enterpreneuring buccaneer or swashbuckler. Guarding the eastern side of the town, a strong stone tower now watches over the reefside of the bay.

More relaxation opportunities arise

Captain Tierlantijn, entertainer and entrepreneur, has sailed his vessel the Frisky Business into a permanent mooring within Quinnsville. This will allow the sailors that are waiting on land to get back on the seas to have some more opportunities to take some relaxation, at their own risk of doubloons and secrets which can not be guaranteed to be held by the previous owners.

MAESTRO Corrington gets financial injection

Our reporter learned from a good source that our benevolent mayor Smaugton, the self-proclaimed Lord of Driftwood, has injected a serious capital raise into MAESTRO Corrington, in order to ensure smooth operations that are in the pipeline.

The Junkyard Fleet returns home

After months at sea, the Junkyard Fleet has pulled back into harbour to unload the treasures and the trades.  While modest profits have been gained, it is unfortunate that one of our brave ships didn`t make it back.

The Pierre Volante, previously owned by Franco Clarke before becoming part of the Fleet, got caught in a gale and ended up wrecked beyond salvation on a sandbank near Berelli.  While her career has been short with the Junkyard Fleet, she did pull in her weight and now has gone to rest.

In other news, the disguised skiff that went along with the fleet somehow managed to capture a pirate vessel that tried to ambush the Junkyard fleet.  The onlookers stared in amazement as the little ship did not only bring along whole nets of fresh fish for our stores, but also pulled in the armed vessel "Nightmare" and her captured crew...

Grave Tidings ahead?

News has reached our benevolent mayor that grave tidings might lie ahead for an Eslandolan treasure fleet that has set out to sea.  It is with regret however that he must inform that Quinnsville is currently not in a position to send any sort of support to the fleet, should she be beset by wolves of the sea.

The Junkyard Fleet gains a new member

With the unfortunate Pierre Volante lost at sea in the last endeavour of the Junkyard Fleet, Quinnsville has been looking for a replacement.
This soon arrived, as our trade partner, the apple-lord Faladrin of Eslandola, send over the La Espada as a replacement.  This little skiff has been licensed today by the Junkyard Fleet Administration Board (editor's note: the dockmaster in charge says this must be the worst paid job in the world, licensing pieces of salvage) and will set sail on an adventure soon.

We wish her captain and crew the best of luck on their bounty run, and may she serve long and proud in the Junkyard Fleet!

The Junkyard Fleet loses vessels to pirates

The latest voyages out into the ocean for riches have been a bit of a double sided knife for Quinnsville.  No less then 3 vessels where lost to various pirates, including even one stolen by the dastardly Sea Rats.

Mayor Smaughton has already stated he will be having talks with Cooke, who finally arrived at the pearl of Cocovia, on what measures to pursue.  With the arrival of the HMS Pendragon, a 6th rate Ship of the Line, and the recent capture of the pirate vessel Siren's Song by the Cod Hunter, a feasible war fleet could be raised if needed to defend our noble island.  This light class 5 vessel is added to our roster under the "Right of First Capture", and will become the backbone of the Junkyard Fleet defences as our shipwrights have began working on the vessels in earnest to get them all seaworthy and licensed.

A Veteran of an Early Age

In other news, with the HMS Green Dragon arriving again safely in port and bringing riches to our economy, she has turned out to be a true veteran of the oceans, as she was there from the very first voyage, and even including her daring "banana run" for the Queen, still sails strongly and unchallenged to this day!

The Quinnsville Chronicler, issue 9

The Junkyard Fleet sails again in two weeks

After some months of relative calm in Cocovia and with our captains sailing on their own agenda's, the Junkyard Fleet is sailing again soon.  Maestro members and Corrington fishermen of all sorts can once again sign up to sail in an organised fashion and hopefully prevent loss of ship as happened to be the case recently.  They will try to steer clear of storms as Hurricane season is upon us once again...

Emptying the drydock

The recent months our defense vessels have managed to capture various rogue faction Pirate vessels.  While our small force of boatbuilders is almost ready with restoring one of them and putting them in the harbour for defense of Quinnsville, the mayor is selling off some more of them to friendly nations and adventurous entrepreneurs.
The Armed Sloop "Nightmare", the War Brigantine "Brad the Pirate" and the War Schooner "Siren's Song" have all gone to the auction block, the proceedings promised by sir Smaugton to be flowing into the further expansion of Quinnsville.

MAESTRO and the Mardier war

As the most recent issue of the Kings Port Advertiser chronicled, Mardier has had several Eslandolan ports blockaded.  While this has business implications for the main MAESTRO branch, Quinnsville and MAESTRO Corrington have so far not been involved in this incident, and opens our harbour facilities to any Maestro trading ship seeking refugee and restocking.

When our reporter asked sir Smaugton if the Junkyard Fleet would send out any of it's small combat vessels to help the blockade, he mumbled something about "ask that foppish poncy in the next town, he thinks he owns the oceans". *

* The Quinnsville Chronicler nor any of it's reporters accept any responsebility in case of miscitations.
