These are both really nice, well done!

I actually quite fancy building that smaller version though. Do you have any instructions etc for that one?

Interesting approach.

Nice result, kinda weak/fragile though.

I tried (well, I just spent a few minutes on the matter...) to do an UCS T-70 X-Wing. I started with a 10240 basis. But I couldn't find a way to make nice, reliable and accurate air intakes...

Thank you for the kind words guys :)

@Marmite - Here is my thread with LDD files :) http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117815#entry2396616

Thanks Anio, im actually building this at the moment(pics will follow when its finished) The fuselage is actually quite sturdy(lots going on under the hood), my only concern is the hinges for the wings. It only has one function though, to look accurate and stay still :D

That's a lovely T-70 .

It's also - as advertised - UCS scale. Huge!

I've spent the last few minutes flipping through the reference photos I used when I was building my t70 moc, and comparing them to your model. I think you've nailed it in almost every way. You've got the major proportions just right, and it looks really smooth. I also really the way that you've scaled up the engine intakes.

If I may be allowed one minor quibble: I'm not sure if the 30 degree slopes between the engines and the wing are the best part. In particular, there seems to be too much flat area between the top of the slope and the curve of the engines. May I suggest using 18 degree slopes instead?

That's the only real quibble I have, however, and I very much look forward to seeing pictures of this beastie in real bricks.

Cheers for the kind words Dave :) You are probably right about those slopes, in looking at the studio models the area looks pretty similar but in terms of cleaner lines, the 18 degree ones will probably look much better!

Looks pretty awesome, especially from the back! But considering the amount of parts and the size of the wings, they surely would drop like crazy in an assembly of real lego parts right?

I'm hoping not, i made sure there was plenty of connection for wings and engines so my only concern is the hinges. We shall see though!

Thanks for the aditional photos. I love the use of the classic wheel arches for the rear landing skids, and I see you've even put bay doors on the front landing gear. Wow.

Regards,

Awesome build. Very sleek-looking and absolutely love from the nose to the cockpit section. The colour also reminds me of Hi-Nu Gundam. ;)

  1. How many bricks?
  2. Does it have a landing gear? The black version suggest it does, but just double-checking...
  3. Will you be sharing the LDD file?

Cheers guys :)

@obiwan1011, its landing gear is clip on at the moment, doesnt fold away. At the moment its 1600 pieces. If there is enough interest i might let the plans go for a small fee, lot of work went into this, i'll see how i feel when its made in bricks and enough people would enjoy the build :)

I signed in only to say that this is trully amazing. I am a big fan of the X-Wing and in SW7 they really took the original drawing of Ralph Mcquarrie and brought it to the next level. This Lego version is superb, you definitely nailed it. I tought the 10240 was a nice version but yours is in a league of it's own. I would not hesitate to pay for your plans. Again, this is incredible work.

Let us know if you ever start selling these plans, thanks.

Phil

I already liked your smaller version of this ship but the UCS really does make it look small.

I think that all the slopes work much better at this scale. The nose area looks much smoother, as do the engines and the cockpit.

This would definitly be a great addition to any UCS collection!

Looking forward to seeing it built in real bricks.
