Lu's Log - 18 Janurali 3816

I'd been to Kaalin once before, on a very different mission. Back before the crash, when I was still able to pilot.

Technically, this is supposed to be my week off - after a month of 12 hour days, trying to get the Ophelia ready to dive, I was ready for a break. After a few days on the Axle, though, I got a bit stir crazy so I volunteered for the first ground mission that came up.

We're checking up on some Awesomenium probes - a group of them just went offline, despite a recent inspection by a specialist, and HQ suspects foul play. Foul enough that they've sent me out in an armed truck, and given me a partner.

Zack's trying to act tough, but I think this might be his first mission on an unsecured planet and he seems jumpy. It's kind of cute.

19064744338_77ecd97fdf_o.jpg Well, we've left the Octan base's defensive net - shall I, uh, man the gun in back?

17722877618_0b8a923d32_o.jpg Nah, CLAPPIE will take care of it. He really likes miniguns.

19064744338_77ecd97fdf_o.jpg Wait what?!? Your CLAPPIE unit operates vehicle weapons?

17722877618_0b8a923d32_o.jpg Sure, doesn't yours?

19064744338_77ecd97fdf_o.jpg No! The one time we tried to get our CLAPPIE to handle the ship's defensive guns, we got a 30 minute lecture about the Three Laws of Robotics.

17722877618_0b8a923d32_o.jpg Huh. I asked CLAPPIE about the three laws once. ... He giggled.

19064744338_77ecd97fdf_o.jpg Has your CLAPPIE ever shot anything?

17722877618_0b8a923d32_o.jpg ... Not anything human. Anyway, I need you to navigate. Which way to the first extractor?

So, I really liked the 60115 Octan 4x4, but the dimensions were a little too big for my taste. I ended up rebuilding the entire chasis, adding about a stud lengthwise, and using different tires with some suspension.

Love the gun and you did a fantastic job of remaking the vehicle. I never actually put my 4x4 together, just ended up using the parts. Good thing I have a 2nd still in the box. I'll have to have a go at re-creating something like yours, that back area is very well done!

Great job, the gun is definitely the highlight. I really need to pick up a few of those 4x4's. They even come with a scorpion!

Great suspension! And the gun on the back is a big improvement over the tire.

Love the line about clappie giggling. Kind of scary.

LOL, yeah - I think CLAPPIE represents the still ongoing argument about whether A.I. will be good for the survival of humanity :classic:

great looking gun on top and great job on the scale, especially with the bed of the truck.

Thanks!

Thank you! Yeah, it's a great little set - I need to pick up a second one.

Thanks - and yeah, you should totally pick up a few, for the cool torsos if nothing else.

Great suspension! And the gun on the back is a big improvement over the tire.

Thank you! I guess it all depends on the mission requirements - a gun is probably considered cheating when it comes to offroad racing
