While the majority of the people are exploring newly discovered worlds the live in Bastion continues.

As you can see this House is well visited, among all layers of society.

Game wise does this count as commerce? there is trade, they sell a lot of beverages.

@mod's this might be on the edge, please say so if it is over. I can change some or remove a picture.

Whether on the edge or not. It is wel executed, with a humorous view on this 'establishment'.

For me personally it's within the boundaries, just as we depict war and other themes, that wouldn't be without a very dark and harsh side in reality, in a in a 'fun' way in lego. But being no mod a have the luxery to only think about what I think of it, instead of applying the guidelines.

I wonder, the round red sign with a golden dot in the middle, is it a typical sign for such establishments ?

The sign is just something I created. I know these kind of establishments use red lights as indicators. I've got those too.

But I wanted a sign. red as the colour of their business, gold as they make quit some money.

looking trough the The Map Systems And Owning Land In Brethren Of The Brick Seas thread this is Artisan not Commerce, as Taverns fall under Artisan, I assume this does too.

Very suitable establishment in that town

Nice busy atmosphere with all the minifigs. My favorite detail is that balconette, simple but functional design :classic:

I don't think this type of build should be a problem here as it is an AFOL forum. Besides, no one complains about death, dismemberment and gore in general in builds here?

Very good build ! And of course, very suitable establishment for pirates !

What are those lamps you made on the roof ? I find them a bit too modern but if it for ambiant purpose it could be ok for this kind of commercial service...

For me it is probably a good building in the commercial or artisan. I think it could work. But it is more up to a faction leader to decide.

indeed it works because of all the figures inside. and out on the street, without them it looked very empty.

Balconette? the area where that one girl is standing waving down? or the grill piece on the front side?

Good point about the horror parts.

If it was anywhere publicly it would be in Bastion :D

The ones on the ceiling inside? yes they are for ambient light. You don't want very bright lights in a place like that. Looking at it now, I should have added a transparent and dark round 1x1 below it, making it look more like an oil lamp for instance.

Very good idea, and well-executed!

Thank you.

*GASP* How DARE you post such a thing?! I'm telling my mom! MOMMY!!

Haha, just being silly. In all seriousness I think it's perfectly acceptable within this environment. Every major pirate establishment in the real world (plus lots of "civilized" establishments) eventually had numerous places like this. You're posting in a pirate faction in a pirate forum. If it doesn't fit here then I don't know where it would.

The building is unique, maybe a little - I don't know - unusual, perhaps? It's not that I don't like it - far from it, I think it plays that role very well - buy it's an interesting design. I like the fact that most of it is open so we can see the interior details, and the throng of people really brings the setting to life. The balconette is a nice feature and from what I've read an accurate feature as well, from which the strumpets would solicit "business," just like you've shown.

So... Corries and Oleonders can share a little space together, aye? Well, maybe as long as they don't want the same courtesan. That would probably spark an all-out war.

Overall I think this is a fine example of a not-so-fine type of establishment. I'm sure glad history has left them behind. Oh, wait, it hasn't...

Good work.

As noted before, the categories can be loosely interpreted. Reasons why we have different categories will be more evident later on when we put in the skills system.

Good work.

The Idea to build this came to me, when I was lining up the minifigs suitable to play a role in this world (excluding all the police man) I had this girls on a line and though, what can I do with those, and I started from there. the scene was the basis and the building grew around it.

Having a scene play out is a great work around the fact I don't actually have that many bricks suitable for building a full (4 walls and proper interior) building.

Sure Corringtonners and Oleonores can share a place, they can be sure neither of them would tell that they saw each other, thereby admitting they visited a place they maybe shouldn't have been.

As noted before, the categories can be loosely interpreted. Reasons why we have different categories will be more evident later on when we put in the skills system.

Ah I got it, I'll find out how that works in the future then :)

Great idea and money maker. Laws in other factions may prevent such establishments.

As mentioned before, the balconette is brilliant (the architectural one, not the other meaning of the word although it may well be present in this moc). Just a few bricks but it's instantly recognisable.

So far this might be the most true to life moc of life in an age of sail pirate town!

it took a side travel to Wikipedia to figure out what you all meant with a balconette, turns out that is known as a French balcony here :D (the grill piece in front of the narrow full hight window)

Thank you, that is a really nice thing to say :)

French balcony is what I was about to call it as well but somehow the search for the translation of "fransk balkong" (French balcony) in Swedish gave me the word balconette which I just assumed was a more general term and also avoided any reference to some strange realm in a parallel universe

Maybe they call it Oleander balcony on the Madrice peninsula?
