"Battle damaged" Stormtrooper transformation

Recommended Posts

I want to try this, but the post by Hinckley that was referred to on page 2 about discolouration after the use of brasso worries me. I haven't ever used brasso before.

I was that page 2 poster! :sweet: So yes, I had those worries before I tried out the Brasso, and I'd never used it before as well. You can see the results of my first time using Brasso above ^^ Since I have Brasso'd those Stormies, I have not seen any discoloration on the affected areas of the minifigures. However, I have heard that the Brasso formula is different in other countries, so you may have different results if you were to try it. But that may or may not be true.

I agree. I recently watched the ANH Blu-Ray on a nice TV, and I was surprised at how dirty and scuffed up the Stormtroopers, C-3P0 and R2-D2 actually were. Maybe it was Blu-Ray, or maybe I never payed attention before.

I'll give you that not all of the in-movie Stormtroopers are 100% clean and shiny, but none of 'em are running around with big oil slicks and mud caked on their armor like in the BP.

Thanks for the inspiration Chupacabra! This works a treat, I even had success without the tape (I used electrical).

I found that if I was careful I could do it by eye and I got it down to about 10 mins per figure, just using brasso and cocktail sticks.

I think the stormtroopers you are referencing are the troopers seen on Tatooine? Except those Stormies are pretty shiny.

I've Been thinking about getting some imperial battle packs, As I need some stormtroopers to use as blaster fodder. After to seeing this I'm half tempted to try this teqnique out, even though the battle damage looks good, having a lot of troopers with identical damage looks odd. So I imagine a lot of people will be doing this.

Thank you for sharing/using one of your figures as a guinea pig.

You're welcome!

Nice timing by the way

Indeed! Only Sandtroopers were dirty.
