The lack of aliens was one of my gripes initially, but then I looked back at the first TFA trailer, and there were no aliens in it. Granted, we see a lot more people in the R1 trailer, but I'll give them a pass this time. I'm hoping this isn't something that skimp out on though.

Loved the trailer, and there certainly are some great sets that could come out of all this. The new stormtroopers look good and that tank better make it as a set. It just looks to good for TLG to not make it.

I'm not going say what I think he means as I don't. But my issue with her isn't that she's a tough female character. It's that her dismeanor from the trailer is too much like the other generic tough female characters of late. She doesn't feel unique in the wide range of female characters out there...as of yet. We don't want two Rey's back to back. I am hopeful to be proven wrong.

I like her imperial uniform later in the trailer, I hope we get a figure of her in that!

This puts into words exactly what I've been thinking but couldn't explain, it seems like every female lead lately is always a (sometimes wannabe) tough, emotionless character, look at the hunger games, divergent, TFA, R1, and I'm sure I'm missing a few. Not that it's not a good thing to have female leads, but it would be nice to see more personalities, maybe do a female Han/Lando type, or an anti-hero, not a female who is trying to make up for past events. I'm getting tired of the same thing over and over. Frankly every kind of lead is getting like that. We get the same handful of generic personalities every movie now. That's what made Star Wars great, new character types. I don't remember the last new character type in any thing since....maybe TPM?

I think the tank troopers and the new "sandtroopers" are different types, comparing the ones in the tank with the ones running thru the Imp installation alongside regular stormies later in the teaser. Hopefully we'll get both kinds.

It looks like they more-or-less have the same armor, but the scarab troopers are tan and the tank troopers are white. If wee see both, they'll probably have the same helmet mold.

I laughed when I saw Mon Mothma in the SAME outfit as ROTJ. But, if we get a mini figure of her, it'll be reusable.

Why is it wrong to have a strong female. Some female charicters are the best, take chell for example.

No one complained about luke and hes just a male rey.

Maybe people liked Chell because she didn´t talk lol but seriously, Rey and Jyn are like clones of one another, you can tell they got the names for both of them from the same brainstorming session. Two movies in a row with the same main character. It fit for TFA but this is a story more about the war. I hoped for something more generic and militaristic like Saving Private Ryan in Space. A vehicle to show off my favorite part of Star Wars EU, the lower-deck comic stories about army types like Lt. Janek Sunber in a normal military engagement without Jedi or tacky super special secret weapons. I think they got that formula 100% right with the Seven Samurai cast of different, more or less flat archetypes like big guy, lanky guy etc. but yet another girl power, master of all trades title role feels wrong in the context of the lower deck military story and the context of the last movie having had a female title character already. Should have been more evenly focused on the entire group and given a better clishee archetype to the girl like sniper or pilot. Though maybe they will have her and Maybe-Biggs share their screentime enough to make it feel like an ensemble piece.

Nobody went out to complain about Luke but you can see that nobody cared about Luke in the 70s and everyone preferred Han or Obi-Wan. Luke only got popular through 5 and 6, once he was more capable and his own man instead of the idiot audience surrogate that didn´t know the basics of the universe he lived in.

Well, the death star plans are kind of important but importance of the events is arbitrary and should play no role. This movie is more about being a vehicle for the used future military sci-fi style. I would kill to have a tv show with stories like Empire Comics - To the Last Man, Wrong side of the war or that fan-made TIE Fighter anime short. Clone Wars microseries and playing Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 was my childhood, this movie seems to be geared towards this area of Star Wars fandom and I always wished for a weekly tv show like that. I kind of got my wish with The Clone Wars but not really.

Just like how the Han Solo movie will be geared towards the bounty hunter/smuggler part of the fandom of people dreaming about being the cool cowboy with more stories in the vein of Firefly and Andromeda but with the Star Wars look with Stormtrooper armors and run down, used spaceship tech.

I hope they keep doing the spin-offs with specific fan-service aspects while the mainline trilogies remain an amalgam of all the traditional Star Wars aspects with a stronger focus on Jedi, just like it has always been with the OT / PT showcasing everything and the comics/books/EU giving people a fix for their favorite aspects.

Everything looks pretty promising. I just hope we don't get into another era of too many trooper types, like in ROTS. Granted, I'm sure the Empire maintained some specialized troops, I just want to see a lot of OT Stormtroopers in action.

I already threw away my hopes that the inevitable battlepack would be 3 or 4 clean Stormtroopers, seeing how we already have 3 new helmet types. I bet we will get something as bad as the First Order pack. Regular Stormie, dirty Stormie (maybe even a repeat of the last Battlepack just with different accessoir than the jetpack), tank trooper and Shadow trooper.

I have nothing against more imperial trooper types, I always liked some of the types seen in The Force Unleashed 1 and 2 but as I said only some, Stormtroopers wiith blue or red markings should not be canon and most helmets should remain classic Stormtrooper with slight variations, not completely different.

There are only so many ways to make Star Wars-y helmets, I already feel burned out and made fun off with all those extremely similar designs. It feels like they cranked out even more different helmets just for the sake of having more figures to sell and these designs just kind of blur together in my mind. I think the following guys might as well all have the same helmet for how similar they are: Rogue One Shadow Trooper, AT-RT Driver, Clone Pilot Hawk from TCW, Genndy Clone Wars ARC Heavy Gunner, Boba Fett in TCW season 4, that guy that Obi-Wan impersonated with facial reconstruction nanomachines in TCW season 4.

I preferred TCW with repainting the same trooper armor. It is just as toyetic, money-minded and kind of dumb but at least somewhat plausible and realistic. Or why do troopers driving and walking alongside Rogue One tanks need different helmets than normal Stormtroopers? Biker Scouts needing a more suitable helmet for the Speeder Bikes makes sense, army helmets and motorbike helmets are inherently different but these tank guys just kind of sit on their tank, they don´t need a special helmet for that, the ones driving the tank might as well have TIE/AT-AT pilot or AT-ST driver helmets except the gunner who most definitely has no bonus from wearing the new helmet so really what´s the point?

And now we get to the sets lol: With these price points we will most likely only see the rumored AT-ST, imperial tank, TIE Fighter and X-Wing. Maybe not X-Wing because three X-Wing on the shelves at the same time might be overkill, even when Lego considers Poes X-Wing and well Poes X-Wing on Jakku different. The only set slot left is 100 bucks which would be too small for an AT-AT, extremely missed opportunity right there. Whatever big craft they will do it probably won´t fit the tone and style the film is going for: Big action sequences and huge battles. Two middle class fighters, two small ground vehicles and one middle to big thing is lacking.

Well, at least we can´t complain about too few set slots. Making Star Wars a three wave per year theme is a pretty good decision which I hope they won´t rectify so there is still possibility for still enough chances to get sets based on the old movies, the old shows, the new shows and the new movies all at the same time.

So many thoughts coming out of one two minute trailer. Thats what Star Wars is today. If your enjoyment of a movie could be persuaded by what gender the lead role is you should rethink why you like Star Wars.

On the topic at hand I would buy up these sets, the tank and AT-AT. I'm just really excited to see where this film goes.

Just based on the few seconds we've seen, I don't think Jyn is going to be a new Rey at all. Rey was pretty upbeat and a little naive despite her bizarre abandonment on Jakku, much like a young Luke was very naive and positive in his outlook, even if he was whiny about not getting to join up as quickly as he wanted.

Jyn seems much more negative, less willing to help, jaded, and clearly a bit of a criminal...

More like another fan fave: the scoundrel, smuggler, jaded, pessimist: Han Solo.

I think that a design similar to my quick sketch below would give the flexibility to display it's exterior but also be able to open it up and display the interior detailing of the the key movie scenes.

Trust me, plenty of people have said they dislike having a female lead. And I guarantee their rebellious personality wouldn't be nearly as big of an issue if they were male.

But we should probably move that discussion to more appropriate threads. Definitely betting we'll see the Imperial tank in the trailer as a set, and the dropship-looking ship will probably be what's included in the most expensive set. Was it confirmed that there would be an AT-ST? I know a lot of people speculated as much, but I can't remember and there wasn't one in the trailer (not that that means it won't appear in the movie).

It wouldn't be an issue because most people would agree that the character doesn't seem very interesting. With a female lead, plenty of people instantly jump to her defense over any criticism, like those who claimed Rey wasn't overpowered. Having a female lead has critics scrambling to say "I'm not /sexist/ but..." as if you can't criticize anything female without being a woman-hater. "Rebellious young person" trope isn't that interesting to me, and female doesn't make up for it, it doesn't even make a difference at all.

I'm just really glad there's going to so many imperial ships and vehicles coming out. Although with my current Rebels, FO and OT armies I'll probably have quite the mish-mash of various Imperials.
