That's a pretty good theory, I was thinking the U-wing would be in that range too, but what about that double kylo ren shuttle dropship thing?

Honestly to me I think it would be a mistake for them to make the new Imperial Shuttle for only a $90 set when it seems far larger then Kylo Ren's shuttle. At the same price as Kylo's shuttle it would still be undersized but at least could be more accurate to the ship.

Found the AT-TE, Resistance X-Wing and the red and black Freemakers set at walmart.. To me that's surprising.

Was $90 the highest price point for this wave, because maybe it might be in a January wave (doubt it though).

That was according the list we have and what the Nerdyone stated a bit back. It's what has also certainly ruled out a AT-ACT set this wave :sceptic: I mean I could be totally wrong and they do make the most expensive set of this line the Imperial Transport, I personally just don't think that's practical to make an effectively accurate set. I'm sticking to the U-Wing being in that spot.

Well the new lego sets are available to buy in my local Smyths shop in Dublin and the sets I want are ridiculously overpriced in my opinion.

The Eclipse Fighter set is being sold for 45 euro

And the Rebel A wing vs TIE Advanced is being sold for 110 euro.

Here's what the prices should be.

Eclipse Fighter 25 euro

Rebel A Wing vs Vaders TIE Advanced 90 euro

I was so angry when I saw the prices of those sets I stormed out of the shop without buying anything.

Yeah... Smiths here in the UK seem to have them too. A-Wing v TIE is £79.99 which is €105.

My departure from the store was a little different though. Mine was more of a stroll... with the A-Wing and TIE under my arm.

This is crazy. I got the REBELS A-wing vs Vader's TIE Advanced for 89,99 here in Germany...

Well the price in Germany should be the same price here in Ireland, both nations use the Euro so prices should be the same in all EU nations who use the Euro otherwise what's the point of a single currency for EU member states.

Can't you just demand that they lower the prices? Or whatever passes for socialist babying in your country?

I too think that Zeb would look great with shoulder armor. He really needs some bulk, because when the minifigs were first revealed (before the actual character designs were) I couldn't tell that he was supposed to be the muscle of the group.

When I first saw the Zeb figure, I thought it was meant to be a Bothan or something... just a regular sized guy.

I'm seeing if I can do that now and there's nothing wrong with being a socialist especially if the people in charge don't listen to the will of the people or do nothing in response to recent gangland violence which has left 7 dead so far in Dublin.

And do that discussion belongs in a Star Wars thread? I don't think so.

So stop, especially if you have been asked to not go off-topic recently...

Yeah I thought he looked really similar to a Bothan too. His head seemed a lot more vertical than it turned out to be in the animation, but I later discovered that's mainly because of his goatee, which is more pronounced in his Lego incarnation.

I was looking at the Final Duel Model on my shelf. Again fantastic set, absolutely love it. However while I was building and as I observe, there are quite a few places where two pieces have been used where one would have been more efficient. Cheese Slopes i'm looking at you. What's annoying is those additional pieces could have been used for other things such as smoothing out edges. I'm sure this has been thoroughly discussed but i've noticed firsthand recently that a lot of sets seem to follow this trend of unnecessary pieces. Is this just lazy or poor design or is there some piece count inflation going on?

I am curious if we are going to see this in the summer wave as well?

Lego designs sets with some amount of play-ability afterwards by selecting more pieces than needed so that people have lots of pieces to use. Oftentimes, an AFOL can look at a Lego set and figure out a more economic way of building it, but Lego goes with something bigger so people have more parts to use.

I generally don't view it as parts inflation, because for every tiny cheese wedge, I find large bricks, plates, etc. In the end, this helps Lego offset costs.

No because VAT rates are different in different countries. Belgium has it pretty bad for eg.

The problem with these ridiculous prices is that even with the usual Amazon sales, a 30% reduction isn't going to make a grossly overpriced set more attractive for buyers. Im still not biting on some of the TFA first wave sets, despite the sales. Stuff like the X-Wing are still too expensive at 69 euros (c. 30% off, ie).

Well 69 euros is actually a fair price for the X-wing. But yeah, within Europe it's because of the different VAT rates, which really sucks. A 90 dollar set will be around 90 or 100 euros in Germany, but will always be 110 euros in Belgium or in the Netherlands. Even when 90 (enter your currency here) seems a lot for a set like the Tie vs A-wing, you'll have to pay even more for it here. (I don't want to whine about my local prices, it's ridiculous in countries like Australia as well.)

I was shocked to see the Tie Advanced vs A-Wing for $89.99 US dollars when I was at my local Toys R Us in Langhorne PA. Sadly, still bought it.

Toys R Us makes sets more expensive then walmart. Even the battle packs by like $2.

So far as the overpricing goes, I just don't buy them. I decide how much each set to me is worth and I wait. A year if I have to for Amazon or Walmart online to knock the price 25 to 40 percent or whatever. So long as we keep paying a premium they will keep charging a premium.

That's the way to do it. I usually pick up a couple of sets per wave when they're first released then hold fire. I will probably the wait until a 3-for-2 sale in TRU or Argos and wait for Amazon to price match. It also spaces out the sets a bit and stops me building everything in 2 days!

69 euro isn't going to break the bank, but when it's 69 euro this, 80 euro that, 90 euros the other one ... and these are sale prices we are talking about here, not rrp ... it starts to add up. i like lego, but im not as crazy into it as some people here. i collect other stuff too, and for 80 euro, the price of a rather ho-hum discounted imperial shuttle, i can buy two high quality star wars action figures from bandai - check out their recently released mace windu to see what kind of quality 40 euro can buy you. and people can pay 40 euros for a minifigure! at the end of the day, those companies are lego's competitors too, not just megablocks or whatever.

Who says they're gonna even make that ship? We see it blow up in the teaser... for all we know, we see it land that one time and then it gets destroyed.

IMO, stuff like the tank, the AT-ACT, AT-ST, U-wing, & TIE Striker have more playability than a ship where our first glimpse of it is it exploding. Even if all we ever see of the tank, for instance, is that brief shot in the teaser. It's also perhaps too similar to the Tydirium and Kylo's shuttle... big Imp transport with upright wings. Maybe down the line, but not right now.
