LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors

We got him also in 9491...

That's why I said episode 3, the movie not the cartoon. In 9491 he's a Clone wars version and he's not even phase 2.

Just seen your edit and it's fine mate! I would just really like to see more commanders from episode 3, but for some reason Lego dosen't like to give them to us.

That's very unlikely  First off, the RO sets are assumed to be released around September like last year's TFA sets and will thus be revealed at a later point in time. Secondly, the RO sets will surely have their own special boxart just like the TFA ones did :sweet: The RO sets might be included in the catalogues, but if they really are, they'd certainly be represented by blank boxes without names...

All sets (excluding microfighters) have the same box art, it's not specific to TFA stuff. I think this might even expand to include every toy license and not just LEGO but unsure. They do change it after a period of time so it might change to a RO theme. But unlikely, since 2016 will most likely be Kylo Ren all day, every day.

It's probably because they don't have any iconic scenes in the movie besides when they murder all the jedi. They're pretty bland like the rest of the clones, in terms of character anyway.

I think what Lego-Freak was saying is that whenever there is a new Star Wars movie, LEGO changes their box art accordingly. Also by September the Kylo Ren box art would have been used for a year.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant  I should have worded that more clearly  The Star Wars boxart is usually the same for all merchandise and used to change for the summer wave every year since 2005, with the strange exception of 2011, where the boxart from the previous year was kept (2005: Vader on fire, 2006: Vader hovering over Mustafar, 2007: Vader strikes back (again), 2008: lonely sad Clone Trooper, 2009: three lonely sad Clone Troopers, 2010 & 2011: Cloudy with a chance of Rex, 2012: Darth Maul with broken neck, 2013: launch at you, Yoda will, 2014: Vader reaching for a cookiee & Rebels, 2015: Rebels & Kylo, 2016 Kylo & RO).

The rule was obviously changed in 2014 thanks to the new material that keeps coming out

Is the source that leaked these images a trusted source? It seems like there is a lot that points to these images possibly being fake. First off the quality of the images is atrocious.(I understand they are prelims and prelims are never very good, but past prelims have still been better quality than this.) Second, why did the leaker only leak five sets and not all the rumored sets? Third, the piece count on most of the boxes is 442 and the piece count on the turbo tank seems way off. Fourth, 75145 was rumored to be Anakins podracer by a reliable source it is now supposedly some weird looking red and black ship. Any one else think there is a possibility that these are fake? Also does anyone know where the blue/grey ship and the red/black ships are from? If they are from rebels I see these ships being a possibility, but it seems weird that lego would waist time making these types of sets when the Force Awakens just came out, the rebels series is currently running and there are better vehicles/scenes from the original movies that could still be made.

If they're not RO sets then they would have to be stuff from Rebels that we haven't seen yet. They're obviously not PT, OT, or TFA.

If you would've taken the time to read back a couple of pages in this thread I'm sure that most of those questions are answered.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant

Yeah, Disney would change the box art for Star Wars merch sometime in September, if the the release date is still called "Force Friday", It'll probably release on the 2nd. LEGO would never pass up an opportunity to make sets based on a star wars movie.

I'm more excited for Rogue One than I thought.

Is that a new vertical stabilizer piece on the A-Wing and the Hammerhead?

Also, looking at the set with "Dengar", it appears the vehicle has a space between the cockpit and forward section, like the new Batwing; a space that could possibly lead to the set being construed as a podracer? There is a superficial resemblance "from a certain point of view" IMO.

I guess another reason I am hesitant to believe these pictures are real is because the set numbers and names don't match up with the list leaked by Just2Good who has been the most reliable source for Lego sets over the past 3-4 years.

Just2Good is indeed a very reliable source but I think things are sometimes open to change. The most reliable things about J2G, and the other people who are able to give us information, is that they never post anything knowing it to not be true... or at least try to mislead anyone. They tell us is as they hear it. I'm leaning towards them being genuine but as with all leaks there's a chance that it may not be as it seems.

The list from earlier was real, the prelims are real. The Podracer rumor, which came from CM4S, seems to be mislabeled. Didn't hear that from my sources. The two new ships are a new property full of ADVENTURES.

This seems like a much better looking Hammerhead than the one on the prelim image... Seems unlikely, but is it possible the one on the LEGO image is a placeholder?

Doubtful they'd have a preliminary ship in wildly different colors with a wildly different design that still could clearly be called "Hammerhead".

Actually I can see it for this supposed hammerhead set. I imagine the front may rotate potentially like the T-6 Jedi Shuttle.

Perhaps a Rebels Leia fig...

Even if the front rotated, the design of the ships don't match at all aside from the front part being somewhat "hammerhead shark"-ish, and the prelim ship is much smaller than the Hammerheads in the show, which are bigger than Corellian Corvettes I think. The temp minifigs also don't fit the bill for Rebels-stand-ins. Leia may be a short character, but in the released clip where the image of the KOTOR Hammerheads comes from, she stands taller than Ezra (which means he's really short, yet they don't give him short legs). No, if the pics are legit, the Hammerhead is probably either from Aftermath or some new TYC-esque project (which might also incorporate Aftermath elements for all we know... could be Temmin & Mr. Bones will get the animated treatment in a goofy post-Endor adventure!). Slim chance it's from Rogue One, but if it is then it's likely based on preliminary artwork which means it could wind up as inaccurate as Kylo's shuttle. Rogue One hasn't even finished filming yet! (just saw Just2good's post, so...well, there it is! A new property with adventures!)

Whats that ship type actually called? I really like the design, looks a bit like the OR Zenith Escort Cruiser

It's just called a Hammerhead-class cruiser in the KOTOR games & comics.

It also closely resembles the Thranta Class corvettes used in the SWTOR era. maybe even a bit more so than the older hammerhead class. either way if Lego makes one of those i'll have to buy several! (always been a big fan of the Endar Spire, and similar ships)

EDIT: however having now looked at those prelim images, it to me looks like a modified and blackened 75025 Jedi Defender-Class cruiser

The new piece from the back from the A-wing, will we get it also in the set 75147 "Hammerhead" in lblgrey? It seems that at the top of the back of this ship, it is the same piece.

A new sort of this piece...? BL: 6239

I'm pretty sure it's a new piece. I pointed it out earlier. But people are more interested in desperately hanging on to the scraps of the EU than new pieces and adventures..... :sceptic::grin:

It's strange, that LEGO makes sets based on theirs own designs when there is so much new stuff coming.

Well, maybe because Disney condemned the Expanded Universe as not canonical, Lego themselves are not allowed anymore to do products based on EU Material.... which would be a real shame, especially when we instead get fictional designs BY lego (which are the least canonical to me/ random generic Sci-Fi stuff with a Star Wars label smacked on)

I completely agree with you. There's so much sets they can make on TFA and Rebels to please their customers, but instead they keep making their own designs. It's really a shame.

It is a shame, but I'm remaining hopeful. The last time Lego did this (with the Yoda Chronicles) we ended up getting an Ithorian minifigure, an RA-7 protocol droid, an E-Wing, and some cool trooper prints.
