The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion

This is the last day MRCA forms can be filled out for January, I believe, so if you are joining one of the following convoys, please post in my January MRCA Escorted Trade runs

thread so that we make sure everyone gets added to the convoy (you will still have to fill out the MRCA form but this way you will know what other ships to add to your trade run):

Route A - The Risky Route (speed 3 ships only) - Escorted by Pandora

Black Marlin

The Sphinx

The Swift Packet

The Knight of Stedor

(1 more ship?)

Route B - The less risky route (speed 3 ships only) - Escorted by Queen's Glory

Sulky Harlequin

Green Dragon

Stubborn Stern

(2 slots left?)

Route C - Somewhat risky route (speed 2 ships only) escorted by the Mermaid -

HMS Alice

Flying Colt

(3 slots left?)

Also be sure to communicate with those joining the same convoy as you to form flotillas within the escort to make your fleet even stronger! Also if Eslandola is sending any escorts along, please post their names as well.

Tomsche: Do you corries always have to be so hi-tech?

I always loved engraved bricks when I was a kid. Still do. How did you make those?

It`s a belgian company, Mijn Blokje, who engraves bricks for you. At 1.10 a brick, I find that a handy source for all my builds, and since I know the persons behind it well, I can usually skip the shipping as we tend to run into each other at least once a month.

Oh those bricks look good!

I build a little plantation I’d like to register this month.

Not sure what size Arlinsport is and I think Simon S might have a sugar planation there already (he build one anyway, don’t know if it’s licensed or not).

Or do the limits not apply there since it’s owned by an NPC?

Et voila, got `the most important bricks` for when I start building my settlement pirate_devg1.gifpir_laugh2.gif

Seriously, those engraved signs look great Tomsche. :pir-wub: You're seriously serious about building a serious settlement!

On a serious note, it would take some seriously  precise and sensitive machines to do that. I'm seriously impressed.

I keep mixing up the capital and Arlingsport. I guess I don't know the answer to your question and it raises the same with me.

Ignore the plantation rule for now please. Go ahead and register the plantation in Arlinsport - anyone else can register one there too, if so inclined.

Scarst is at work, but I have seen his ship, he is just waiting for me to take pictures of it and it will be posted today. He will want in on Route A if we have the slot, if not he will probably do the same route without escort.

Kai already answered this, but we are throwing out the plantation maximum for right now. We may revisit it in a year or so. But everything already done would be grandfathered in.

Greetings fellow Corries,

24429875330_0d55e5e30c_z.jpg

So just over a year ago I joined Eurobricks after starting my first major MOC project, a frigate based on Captain Green Hairs most excellent tutorial. I had always wanted a 'proper' sized ship since the Pirates line first came out and I got my first pirate set (6265 Sabre Island). After making it as far as you can see in the WIP shot above, she got put on my top shelf while I concentrated on my first lego love - Castle!!! :pir-laugh:

This afternoon I took her down and dusted her off, I've been wondering if she can serve our cause here.

Clearly she will be far too large for a private licence anytime soon (and realistically probably only the state could afford to construct and maintain capital ships). I am not even sure she rates on the scale that has been produced so far. 20 Lego cannons per side plus 4 smaller brick built bow and stern chasers makes her a 24 gun frigate, with a length of 5 ship pieces plus the bow and stern. On the other hand, if we banded together for one huge capital ship now, our trading conveys may have a rather large advantage....

Also another issue - her colour! Now I love dark green, but I wouldn't want her mistaken for our money peace loving neighbours in the south. Thoughts? - should our ships strictly stick to our colour scheme?

Anyway, to best serve Queen and Country, in your opinions, should I press on and finish her (this will still most likely take several months) so maybe she could be used in some capacity (maybe the Royal Fleet - not sure exactly how that works), or should she go back to the top shelf for now (I'm thinking this is probably the best course)?

Currently I am in the planning stages for a smaller craft, probably a Xebec, for a private licence as well as the current challenges.

Sweet looking Wip Ayrlego!

Go ahead and finish her!

My Eslandolan ship will have a darkred colourline, so don't worry about that :) the Amsterdam was also green while the naval colours of the Netherlands were orange and blue :)

About the size, You can always underlicence a ship and when you got enough money, buy an upgrade (untill the licence the ship is really worth ofcourse).

My shipp will have 55 guns, so it will take a while before I got the necessary funds as well :p

You have an excellent start, apart from the hideous dark green. Red and black would look better - but the color alone shouldn't stop you from building for our all-conquering noble cause. Finish her! We'll be glad to add another well-armed vessel to the fleet. Uniform naval color schemes didn't appear until very late in the depicted time period anyway.

Help me out, fellow Corries! BUILD-IT! BUILD-IT! BUILD-IT! :classic:

Ayrlego, that is one sweet looking ship, fit to ride the tropical waves of the south-eastern brick seas. If Corrington can not raise the capital to float your boat, she could perhaps help serve Corrington interests, only carrying the flag of Eslandola.

Looks like a fine ship and it is good to have a variety of colors other than variants of red and black! I think that remaining on a top shelf unfinished would be a waste of such a beauty...

That is an excellent looking WIP.

Don't worry, I already have the next five classes written, and it fits one of them, so by the time you finish, you will be able to properly license it. The green doesn't matter, Corrington uses whatever is efficient and its a bonus if it looks nice and orderly. It can be blue, white, green, yellow, pink, etc... as long as it serves its purpose. We don't rage at the sight of blue or green like some of our neighbors do when they see red.

As for game licensing. We can definitely work something out where the nation pays the cost to have her afloat, and you have a character captain her. That would put us at four warships (we don't have to MOC the first three -- but we can if we want) if your ship is the first done, and and we have been stockpiling for a few months, we should be able to afford and maintain her at the pace we are going. (getting a few more members would help our cause here). Also, she would be very useful if we need to knock out an enemy port in the new world.

I shall have to agree with the others - that is a very pretty little frigate! pirate_blush.gif The lines are beautiful, and she seems like she would be a great sailor! I most definitely think you should finish her, and the colour is looking great - we are not so strict with our colouring, as you will see if you check out the index pirate_wink.gif

As to licensing, you can easily build a ship as a freebuild without licensing it. As you, a consortium of Corlanders, or the Crown itself grows in wealth, (and the higher ship classes are opened up pirate_wink.gif ) we may at some point be able to license her. pirate_laugh2.gif

For one, I shall await in great anticipation to see her launched! pirate_blush.gif

@Ska: The 5 next classes? Cool - are they final, or will they be put out to review. In any case, I shall be looking forward to seeing them. pir_laugh2.gif

I want to see the playout this month of the system, then we will figure out how to roll it out.

Does a 55-gunner will have a class? :D

And what about the 120-gunner of Captain Dee? :D

Introducing the HMS Otter, Letter of Marque.

And I hope it is ok to use the HMS-prefix, even if it isn't strictly a Royal Navy ship. Otherwise, let me know.

As long as you are on the Corrington Register, I don't think the Queen has a problem with it. (if you are not in the EGS, we can just say you registered it)
