Mike S Posted March 3, 2016 This is getting to be a tradition... Around the third of the month, we all gather 'round eagerly waiting to see if our ships safely and profitably return from their journeys. It is almost like Christmas...but better since it happens every month.

SkaForHire Posted March 3, 2016 Well, that is where the name came from... lol Sorry, you all are going to have to wait another day I think... I just spent 10 hours in the last 18 hours calculating and fighting battles... I have all the totals, I just don't have the muster to write it up. And, I do have to grade about 150 papers today... So, all I will say is that some people are going to be very happy, some are not, and that all nations had a few really good showings, and one trade company should probably just file for bankruptcy. As said earlier, we would all rather have you took your time. This is supposed to be a hobby, afterall! (Although a very exciting one!) And I am happy to hear it came out rather balanced, although that one trade company is in for a bad surprise - I guess everyone is on the edge of their seats! kabel Posted March 3, 2016 And, I do have to grade about 150 papers today... Well good luck with that my dear colleague! I'm currentely doing the same, just 19 papers, but AP English essays are't nessecarily a piece of cake either ...

Garmadon Posted March 3, 2016 ...one trade company should probably just file for bankruptcy. Not mine (I don't suppose)! That's one good thing about not having a lot of ships out there just yet, I guess! Thanks for all your work again Ska!

Well, that just means that less ships have to disappear for you to go bankrupt, right? EDIT: Maybe Ska should've posted this in the general discussion. Sorry members of Corrington. Sounds like there is a case of delegating parts of this to other BoBS game masters or automating it more in the future to keep this sustainable in the long run? Bregir Posted March 4, 2016 Sounds like there is a case of delegating parts of this to other BoBS game masters or automating it more in the future to keep this sustainable in the long run? Seconded. Let us know if there is anyway we can help. I am currently contemplating a MRCA spreadsheet, but as I understand, cb4 and ska was already working on something, so I will await more on that for now. Indeed, a universal spreadsheet will help everyone keep score correctly. I'm all for this.
BrickOn Posted March 4, 2016 If the task were to get passed around a few people, it could be good to get the event live streamed each time, or maybe just filmed. It could assure consistency and act as a demonstration for the next people... Plus 10 hours of dice rolls and and calculations could make for compelling entertainment :-) (well it might beat pressing the refresh button on the BOBS homepage. But seriously, thanks for all the hard work Ska!
SkaForHire Posted March 5, 2016 State of our Navy in New Terra Waters, a report by the Admiralty Board: Queen's Glory: Escort -- Class 5 H A Pandora: Escort -- Class 5 H A Paradise: Escort -- Class 4 A Mars: Escort -- Class 5 H A Bull Shark: Escort -- Class 5 H A ---- Captured, licensed, but not active until we figure out what to do with it: Lover’s Quarrel (Class 4A) Butcher’s Baby (Class 3A) Whisper (Class 4A) Shadow (Class 1A) Friends Forever (Class 4A) ---- Stricken from the Naval List: Mermaid: Class 5 H A - Taken by the pirate Daniel Doblinhue, Feb 616. _______________________________________ Immediate Naval Planning: Refit Whisper as a a 5HA at price difference and commission her the HMS Whisper in order to bring our navy up to equivalent strength of last month. (As our new fifth ship, she will not need MOCed) This leaves: Lover’s Quarrel (Class 4A) Butcher’s Baby (Class 3A) Shadow (Class 1A) Friends Forever (Class 4A) The Admiralty suggests keeping the other two 4As in dry docs until they can be MOCed With the option to upgrade their license. Woodbrose's personal suggestion is to give the 1A license away in a contest form, however, we could keep the 3A in drydock as well until it is MOCed.
Bregir Posted March 5, 2016 I support the admirals suggestions with one caveat. I don't think we should upgrade the license. This is due to the immersion and realism factors. I mean, we captured a 4A, so a 4A should be added to the lists. I understand that a 5HA is much more, powerful, but I would rather invest in Navy bonds for another 5HA and then keep these in docks until MOC'ed. (Or sold or given away in contest.) I am not much for all this fiddling with the licenses. It just doesn't seem right to me. I might be looking into purchasing plans (a moc) for a warship, should the right offer present itself. Then we might come to an arrangement for one of those licenses.
The Sarge Posted March 5, 2016 I don't see any problem with uprating it. The USF President was built as a 44, and after her capture was uprated to a 50 and then a 60-gun vessel in RN service.
Tomsche Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) I suggest the 1A should be donated as a gift to (if they want it) founder`s of the new settlements. That way (and that is what I did personally last MCRA), you can have them patrol the settlements coastal waters. Now this doesn`t seem much, but as I see what might happen in the future is that some players will be ending up with small class 0 ships, from a storyline they played out or such, and those are limited to 1 area as well. You can then set those out on a small bounty run, or a trade between two ports in the same area, and have them escorted by those ships. That was the whole reason I build the HMS Terrigan to start with. Or, but as it happened we have no idea how it should work, if any war of raid would be undertaken on those settlements, you have a floating gun battery to help defence, or if in the future ships would no longer be able to `warp` all over the map, restricting the small fishing boats and all to a single zone anyways for the rest of their lives. Also: Personally, Quinnsville would not participate ironically in that contest, as she has the 1A HMS Terrigan in her port for just that goal nowadays Edited March 5, 2016 by Tomsche
