Annie shuddered at the cannon fire and looked behind her, pulling out her telescope in an attempt to scope out the scene.

Annie sees Calamity, Rex, the Captain, and Luke casting spells. Villagers are dropping the logs and running back to the town square. Clearly something is not right.

The three heroes, Traci, Jackson and William rush over to the dock, scrambling past fleeing villagers. At the dock, they look out to the sea and see...

ship_approach.png

williammorris.png

"Damn it," the mayor mutters.

rex.png

"Calamity has set up some natural defenses with the rocks. It will slow them down, but it won't stop them."

grayson.png

"We can't let them get inland," the captain informs everyone. "As soon as they hit the sand we'll need to give them all we got. They've never attacked us at the port head-on like this. Something has changed."

vernonslate.png

Then, Captain Slate dashes over from his ship. "Mayor! We can't do anything from the beach. We need to stop them on the water, before they get to us."

grayson.png

"Captain-"

vernonslate.png

"Captain, it's not worth letting them get on land. As soon as they do, they'll split up into the forest and divide us. We have to get on The Golden Lotus and fight."

Avalanche's jaw sets, "I agree. We need to take the fight to them; they won't be expecting that."

"Don't run off on me like that, guys!"

Annie sees the ship is filled with rage-filled warriors. Many had axes. One was shirtless and wielded two scimitars. The ship appeared slightly damaged.

Warlen starts channeling a huge ball of fire as he follows Avalanche.

As everyone else talks, Warlen shoots the ball at the ship, then heads for the Golden Lotus.

"Warlen!" Annie shouted. "Can you at least wait a minute so we can discuss a plan of action?"

Warlen sighs, swings round, and comes back to the group sculling a Smelling Salts.

"We have magic, and underwater rocks. We focus as much, if not more, on destroying their ship as we do on taking them down. If someone has a bow or something that Avalanche can use, that's great. Otherwise, here you go, Avalanche, you're on support duty. I don't expect you to use it all," says Warlen, handing him his Healing Staff, Electro Bomb (25 electric damage to all enemies, bomb), Frostbite Capsule (10 ice damage, bomb), and 8 Bones.

Both Warlen and Calamity's shots miss the ship, both flying over the bow.

(Both characters rolled a 5, acting as a miss)

"I have ballistae on the ship that can be used."

rex.png

"Uh, guys, hate to be a downer," Rex begins, "but the longer we wait, the closer the ship will come. If we don't meet the enemy on the sea, we won't be able to damage the ship enough before it makes landfall." Rex peers back out and his face falls. "Look! It's already made it around one of the rocks Calamity placed."

Captain Slate ushers all of the Heroes and militia on board.

williammorris.png

"I'll organize the villagers to safety!" William runs off back to the town, calling out to the other citizens to follow him.

vernonslate.png

"Get us out there!" Slate commands to his crew.

The Golden Lotus' mains unfurl and the ship begins to make its way to approach the raiders.

grayson.png

"Starboard!"

skiff_attempt.png

A skiff can be seen approaching. The Heroes find there is one approaching from the port side as well.

grayson.png

"Get ready!" Just then, a ballista bolt whooshes past the captain. "They've got long range weapons!"

1. What are the stats for the Chrysanthemum?

2. Can both our Ballistas and the enemies Ballistas hit targets besides the ships?

1. What are the stats for the Chrysanthemum?

2. Can both our Ballistas and the enemies Ballistas hit targets besides the ships?

3. Are certain enemies using ranged attacks?

1. Ignore the Chrysanthemum, fixing that now. That was for an older version of the quest, forgot to change it.

2. Yes, both sides' ballistae can hit characters, not just ships.

3. Yes. Whatever characters that do not have a "Note" by them can use long range/Free hits. Ex, the Raider Mage or Captain Luthan.

"Are we not even going to come up with a plan?" Annienal asks worriedly.

"Traci, man a Ballista and aim at the Skiff's crew members, if they board us, we'll be... um... in a bad situation. Jackson, you do the same. Rex, aim at the opposing ship. We need to cut that ship's speed down and board her."

Annienal casts darkness on the Raider Mage from the front row.
