Bonaparte Posted September 26, 2007 This is a MOC of rare beauty! I like this so much that it is now headlined on Classic-Pirates. It is nearly perfect. Great overall design of the buildings. The right colors (except those green doors maybe). And of course some lovely details. Impressive !!!
Chenben Posted September 26, 2007 Wow that's a great work. It's beautiful !! *wub*

El Bucanero Posted September 26, 2007 That's quite an expansion! From this: to this: I'm impressed! This MOC has reached the level of real beauty! Looks like something TLC should make if they ever release new pirates theme. And if it's too big they could sell it in parts, couldn't they? One set for the lighthouse, one set for the port, etc.. Yes, you've really made a wonderful MOC Captain K! *wub* By the way, do you happen to have any pictures of the ship in the port? G
Sir Norman Ray Posted September 26, 2007 8-o 8-o 8-o That sir, is freaking awesome! I hope that when I get to making my MOC it's as good as this :) Keep up the great work, I can only wonder what this is going to grow into next! *y*

SirNadroj Posted September 26, 2007 Great job! I like how you used the printed baseplates around the gate/front of the fort! *wub* Nice! *sweet*
Captain K. Posted September 26, 2007 Hello, Thanks, for your answers. It makes me happy it you pleases. In the future, "Puerto de la cruz" becomes still larger. A friend builds at a further part for the port. @bonaparte The green doors are exchanged still for brown. @Mr. Tiber The ship is not finished yet. That is the HMS cannonball. But in addition later more. Capt. K.
Capn Frank Posted September 28, 2007 (edited) ...The ship is not finished yet. That is the HMS cannonball. But in addition later more. ... Feel free to make a progress thread of the HMS Cannonball if you like Capt. K ;-) What a nice port you have there Capt'n *y* that was a very nice upgrade :) Is that a church in the back right in the original pic of the 1st post? I saw a cannon in your BS folder and added it to Index of MOC Cannons. X-D Here's a link to the cannon: . I love cannons :) I didn't see your original lighthouse in the Index of Land Based MOCs 8-| so added the harbor and lighthouse to that index. :-$ P Edited September 28, 2007 by phred

Bonaparte Posted September 29, 2007 Personally I find it hard to suggest anything that could be added to this MOC. It can always be made bigger, but I find it rather perfect in it's current state.

Daniel G Posted October 1, 2007 Hello, I build the part one of the Puerto de la Cruz. At the blue place on the right side of Gouverneurs Castle I build two accommodations for the sea soldiers. Then this is the crossing to the part two from Capt. K. If the project is complete, we make further pictures from whole Puerto de la Cruz. Many greetings Daniel G

Col. Whipstick Posted October 14, 2007 First rate Captain K! With a pad like that you could be scoring regularly with the wentches! X-D The tower is particularly appealing, especially given it's cylindrical rather than geometric form, it's more elegant and reminscient of the Spanish colonial architecture. Would be keen to see the same structure stocked with Conquistadorian type troops from the later years. Interestingly I just saw 1492: Conquest of Paradise, the film about Columbus discovering the new world which was made in '92. The colony at San Salvador was apparently based on drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci that he had devised as the perfect planning for a European city of the day. Columbus probably wanted to encourage the efforts of another Italian but anyway, very attractive colony and your model reminded me of it.
Captain K. Posted October 15, 2007 Hello, I find colonial architecture also very beautiful. A dream of me was to be always built such a city. I did not see the film "1492" over Columbus. Unfortunately! Capt. K.
Mister Phes Posted October 15, 2007 Interestingly I just saw 1492: Conquest of Paradise, the film about Columbus discovering the new world which was made in '92. I've always wanted to see this movie, was it any good? I'll do an eBay search for it right away!
Col. Whipstick Posted October 17, 2007 I've always wanted to see this movie, was it any good?I'll do an eBay search for it right away! For some reason the film seems to get slated by the critics... but then the likes of us would know that's because it's all the politically correct charged crap. The didn't make the Spanish look nasty enough to the Indians I guess! Personally I really enjoyed it. Yes the movie is slow but that's the apeal, it's visually very exotic as a considerable amount of time is spent in both Spain and The New World, good visuals of Granada and San Salvador in particular. The soundtrack by Vangelis is fantastic and I listen to it constantly. I'd recommend we look at creating some 1492 MOC's... But yes well worth getting hold of. I've also just watched Apocalypto and although the Spanish are hardly in the film it's a visual feast for the eyes in terms of Mayan Culture if not more than a little violent.
