I've seen it happening before and I was always curious. https://www.flickr.com/groups/the-shipyard/ Every September people participate in this event where the goal is to build a SHIP (Significantly Huge Investment in Parts). The basic definition is that it must be at least 100 studs long (or longer) in any dimension for it to qualify as a SHIP. I went for classic shapes and colors, stabiity/sturdiness and modularity (I'm planning to take it to a local convention). I also like how the stripe turned out.
