I just bought this truck for my 6 year old son  he actually does most of each build session alone, but I need to check the assembly. I expect it will take a month and a half to complete the model.

When we've got the model done, I'd like to follow up with a simple RC mod to make the toy more playable; What's the simplest RC mod in terms of assembly and supplementary parts? I have no issue with getting motors and a remote at the local Lego store, and have a couple of Mindstorms kits of Technics parts.

If you would read this forum, you would have find links to some youtube videos showing how to do it.

Or just follow this or related videos from PPung:

Nothing fancy here. Just doing the truck without the crane

Could you post a couple more pictures of the centre of the truck- where you have connected the front to the back of the truck. I have done the exact same thing with my 42043 but my connection is not great between the two halves.

Unfortunately it was disassembled a few weeks ago. I had to shorten it a few more studs compared to that pic.

Here's the only pic I had with the almost finished one.

Hello,

I finished my mod of the arocs 42043

I made the truck shorter, it's driven by remote control. I also added an airtank and pneumatic stabilisers, all the pneumatic controls are moved to one side. The crane is foldable, but is lacking a grabber which was replaced by some chains

Can you send me the instructions..?

@shai pinchas first of all welcome to Eurobricks, here we only quote one specific image when referring to and not whole post so look at this message as little help for the future :classic:

Welcome to Eurobricks, shai pinchas!

As Igor said, try not to quote whole block of pictures and text, it makes the page cluttered and hard to read. Also, make sure you read our guidelines, the ones you agreed to while joining the site. Thanks and have fun!

I found this MOD while looking for a set on ebay.de. The set owner put the BBox behind the cab. I think this MOD is worth applying because it not only reduces the tension of the motor cable but also cover the protruding engine in the back.

Hi everyone!

Finally, I put my hands on 42043. I always felt 42043 was a great model, but something seems wrong or misplaced.

The suspension was my biggest concern when I decided to reproject a new one, lowered and more aesthetic with the entire model.

I will show you some results of days on LDD and more other days building, hope you enjoy it :)

For a comparison with the original build of 42043, I put my mod side by side with 42043 pictures from Jim's awesome review.

A closer look

Cabin and crane were modified too.

42043 looks massive and now looks beautiful. It is one of my favourite models (alongside with 42009).

This is great, and very cleanly done. I tried the same type of mod, but my building skills weren’t good enough to do it properly so I ended up lowering the front mudguards and adding a lift arm to each side of the cab, to give the illusion that it it was lower without doing anything very structural

Thank you!

Believe me, I spent lots of time on LDD and after with the bricks.

I reinforced the entire chassis because 42043 is pretty heavy.

For those who want to try, HERE is my LDD file ;)

Love it! My biggest problem was how lifted the original model was.  I will definitely be saving your file for a later date. Thanks for sharing!

The process is a bit complex because involves many steps. I will try to provide a manual soon.

Thank you @Moran !
