[MOC] The Feast of the Monkey

Every year around midsummer the islanders of the happy island of Cascara are celebrating the "Feast of the Monkey":

The dancing usually lasts five to six hours...

... by then the monkey statues are utterly exhausted...

... and need a rest...

(I've tried a new water technique but it does not come out in the pictures... The stuff in the background is an attempt at "forced perspective palm trees")

Just when I thought our resident monkey expert had gotten lost at sea he sails forth with another tale of monkey business. The scene is well built and nicely posed and as usual the monkey statues look great. The beach is nice and the water looks cool - and definitely more movable than loose round tiles. As for forced perspective, I think it would look better if it was slightly elevated so as not to be lost in the background. I assume the crabs are dancing too? Good work!

This is one of those wonderful builds that make you smile the moment you see it. The posing of the figs is perfect, it's not easy to pose these stiff little minifigs so you can see the movement in your imagination. Fun stuff Capt B!
