@kbalage.....My relationship with the blown highlights in your picture is the same as my relationship with cilantro.... I don't know if I love or hate them.

 

What iris are you shooting at?

@Myers Lego Technic I was waiting for the sun for a long time to have that strong backlight :) The aperture is a good question, as this is a frame from a video i recorded there's no EXIF data to check, but my guess would be 12mm (24mm equivalent) @ F3.5.

As I mentioned in another topic, I got myself 42063 recently, and thought it would be great for some outdoor photography...

1/100s, F4.0, ISO100

1/80s, F3.5, ISO100

I'm actually quite pleased how good these turned out, considering it's the first time I've taken outdoor photos.

Another thing I thought I might try, after seeing @SevenStuds's awesome photo on page 8, is light-painting:

15s, F5.0, ISO100

It's nowhere near as good as @SevenStuds's photo, but I think it turned out okay...

nice picture of the BMW, i really like it, if LTG would use such pics for there advertisements i think the boxes would look som much better.

there is only one problem with the picture, THE BIKE IS TO CLEAN :D

Nice pics of the bike! Not sure if you are using Lightroom or PS but I'd recommend tinkering with the Blacks/Whites. Turn the knobs a bit. Lot's of detail is lost in the black which I (personally) think could be better. Again, this might be personal.

I have posted this example of the bike before, so sorry for that  But it's a good example of getting more depth and detail in a picture.

Thanks, I use GIMP, and I do adjust the levels, but I actually darkened the blacks slightly in the above photos, because the colors looked a bit flat... (and before you ask, yes, I did also try adjusting the saturation)

Actually, I don't think that TLG uses CGI for the box. At least not the model. Background probably yes, but the model is an actual photo....with lots of editing.

If you watch "the making of 42030" they show how it is done. It is a HI-RES picture, cropped, and put in backround.

Hey Jim, How do you post a picture with a restricted size while the original one is actually much larger? That is very useful when someone wants to see more details and they can just click on it to see a full-size picture.

I also use Flickr to host my photos, everytime I post a picture on EB, I just copy and paste the url of a 1024px wide picture, and if I click on that picture it only shows my the exact 1024px one.

So how do you do that? Is that a function available only to the admin team? Thanks.

Yes, just double-click on the smaller photo after you embed it, and paste the URL of the larger photo as the "Link URL".

You succeeded! Nice picture indeed!
(very minor detail; if you center a model, make sure you equally crop all the edges. Makes it's even better.)

For me reviews I have written a piece of software which let's me select the pics and the display size. It then generates the code to display the pic in the smaller size and link to the original one. Saves me a lot of time.

Integrating in the forum will be quite tricky (for me). I know a lot of programming languages, but I have successfully avoided PHP 

Let me see what I can do with my code. Maybe I can make a standalone program or give you access to my web tool.

A web tool would be cool, but I guess that there are php libraries that can handle image compression pretty well too. Though I guess that would slow down the server-side code, so we would gain nothing in the end... The ultimate soluition would be storing the images on the forum server, that would solve a lot of things.
