Hi

After the overwhelmingly positive response to my James Bond project, which is still a WIP, I have decided to make a sister project of Bond's famous adversaries. Like the Bonds, these will all be purist and I am open to any suggestions, feedback or constructive criticism, enjoy!

Please note, some of the descriptions may contain spoilers for the associated movies.

Dr Julius No

(Dr No)

doctor_no.jpg

"Unfortunately, I misjudged you, you are just a stupid police man"

The first Bond villain, Dr No plans to demonstrate the power of SPECTRE by sabotaging US Space launches from his secret base in Jamaica. Having lost his hands through radioactive exposure, he has metal claws strong enough to crush a gold statue.

Donald 'Red' Grant

(From Russia with Love)

red_grant.jpg

"I get a kick out of watching you, the great James Bond, find out what a bloody fool he's been making of himself."

Grant is SPECTRE's most formidable assassin, sent to kill Bond aboard the Orient Express and steal back the top secret Lektor machine he took from the Russians. The figure is carrying the exploding briefcase that causes his downfall after he blows his cover as a fellow British agent by ordering red wine with fish.

Auric Goldfinger

(Goldfinger)

auric_goldfinger.jpg

"This is gold, Mr Bond. All my life I've been in love with its colour... its brilliance, its divine heaviness."

A millionaire obsessed with Gold, Goldfinger embarks on the crime of the century, to break into Fort Knox, but doesn't plan to take a single bar of gold...

Elektra King

(The World is not Enough)

elektra_king.jpg

"You wouldn't kill me. You'd miss me."

After her oil tycoon father is assassinated, Elektra inherits the King pipeline, bringing crude oil from Azerbaijan to Europe. She and Bond become extremely close, before she reveals her villainous intent to monopolise oil production with a nuclear meltdown in Istanbul.

Gustav Graves

(Die Another Day)

"You're a rare challenge, Mr Bond. "

gustav_graves.jpg

A wealthy diamond miner, Graves has developed the Icarus satellite, supposedly capable of increasing daylight in parts of the world which normally spend months in darkness, however he is in fact the disguised Colonel Moon, a North Korean war criminal who Bond supposedly killed. Graves and Bond meet during a fencing match, so I have re-created that look here.

Le Chiffre

(Casino Royale)

"I hope our little game isn't causing you to perspire."

le_chiffre.jpg

A maths genius and expert poker player, Le Chiffre is also a terrorist banker who uses his skills with statistics to play the stock market, but when Bond prevents a terrorist attack on Miami Airport, his plan to profit from a drop in airline stock fails and he must turn to the casino tables to recoup his loses, hence he is seen here with a gambling chip.

That's all I have for now, I hope to post some more (and better pictures!) soon!

Very nice work! I really like the different characters you made. My favourite one is Goldfinger

This looks cool, I wish you can make one of Silva from Skyfall one of the best villains of Bond.

Thanks, Silva is on my list to do, but I'm still unsure which of his costumes to go for, I think Nick Furys trench coat from the UCS helicarrier is perfect for the scenes at Skyfall, but I really don't have the money to buy it!

Thank you, there are at least another two on the way very soon!

Here are a few more villains to enjoy, and the existing ones have been given new pictures!

Emilio Largo

(Thunderball)

emilio_largo.jpg

"You wish to put the evil eye on me? We have a way to deal with that where I come from."

Known as 'Number Two' and second in command of SPECTRE, Largo is based in the Bahamas where he oversees SPECTRE's plan to hijack a NATO bomber and hold the world to ransom with its two atomic bombs.

Max Zorin

(A View to a Kill)

maz_zorin.jpg

"Intuitive improvisation is the secret of genius."

The product of Nazi genetic engineering, Zorin is a former KGB agent turned electronics tycoon who plans to use the unstable San Andreas fault to create a giant earthquake to destroy Silicon Valley in San Francisco, leaving him the sole producer of microchips.

Victor 'Renard' Zokas

(The World is Not Enough)

renard.jpg

"You can't kill me, I'm already dead"

One of the world's most wanted terrorists, Renard was previously targeted by MI6 and shot in the head. The bullet did not kill him but has made him impervious to pain. He kidnapped Elektra King years before the events of the film and the two devised a plan to destroy Istanbul.

Raoul Silva

(Skyfall)

raoul_silva.jpg

"She sent you after me, knowing you're not ready, knowing you would likely die. Mommy was very bad."

Formerly Tiago Rodriguez, Silva was an MI6 agent in Hong Kong, but after nearly starting a cyber war with China, he was given up and tortured by the Chinese, even his suicide pill failed to kill him. Now Silva has come back with a personal vendetta against M, the head of MI6. This is my first attempt at Silva, wearing the police officer disguise he has in the middle part of the movie. Not sure how happy I am with it, I think the face captures the crazy look he has but I would like to find a better outfit for him.

Funnily enough I was watching A view to a kill today! Nice figures the hair on Max Zorin is an excellent choice.

Thanks! I'm really happy with Zorin, though I wish it was a little more blonde!

So this was that mysterious project! :D

Anyway, here goes nothing!

Fair warning: I'm more versed in Bond than I am in his adversaries, so the following assessments are based mostly on Google Image searches and my disturbingly vague prior knowledge…

Also, if any of your choices are based on a specific movie scene or for a particular reason, then ignore my advice, and leave them the way they are.

Second warning: This post is SUPER long. It’s like reading a damn essay. Sorry about that. :( Good luck!

Round 1:

Dr. No: I'd recommend http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=64798#T=S&O={"ii":1} as an alternate hair.

Donald Grant: I'd recommend http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=62810&in=M as an alternate hair. Instead of using it in blonde, light bley (blueish grey) might actually be a better option. You used this hair (to great effect, I might add) on Emilio Largo.

Auric Goldfinger: I'd recommend http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3626bpb0510#T=S&C=3&O={"color":3,"ii":1} as an alternate head (you thought that was going to say hair, didn't ya?!), because yours looks a bit too serious.

Elektra King: Her face is great, but something about it is kind of "off" to me. I'd recommend looking at this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=2&q=female&catLike=W&sortBy=N&sortAsc=A&catType=P&catID=238 (the female head "disambiguation page", if you will), and flipping through some of the many, many, many choices that Bricklink has available. I picked out a handful, and I stuck to the yellows, but there are SO many more out there, it isn't even funny.

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3626bpb0581#T=S&C=3&O={"color":3,"ii":1}

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3626cpb1336#T=S&C=3&O={"color":3,"ii":1} (Ignore the robot side ...)

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626cpb1029

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626cpb1061

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626cpb1277

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bpb0529

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bpb0681

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626cpb1284 (See what you do with customization and/or hair placement to get rid of the silver bits, maybe...)

Another thing: Seeing as she wears a dress, I'd also recommend looking at this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=&catID=&itemYear=&searchName=Y&searchNo=Y&q=dress+slope&catLike=W (the dress "disambiguation page", if you will), and flipping through some of the choices that Bricklink has available. I picked out all of the red ones, and the few black ones, because, (from what I can tell at least), she wears two different dresses during the course of the film, one red (through and through) and one gray, and purple combo, but since there are no accurate looking grey tops (that I could find), or purple dresses (again, that I could find), I figured some artistic licence could be taken.

Black:

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3678ap01#T=C

(This looks like the only one that's mostly black, so I'd give it the second strongest recommendation, if you want to do black.)

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3678bpb067#T=C&C=11 ,

Couple this with the matching torso, (http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=973pb1586c01#T=C&C=11) and I think you've got a great outfit...

(This one is mostly a light blue, but with some black highlights, so I'd give it the strongest recommendation.)

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3678bpb071#T=C&C=7 (I lied. This one is technically all blue, by way of a combo of light and dark blues, but it might still work…

Red:

For the reddish dresses, I’m going to leave my opinions out of it, and let you choose...

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3678bpb048#T=C&C=88

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3678bpb068#T=C&C=59

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3678bpb057#T=C&C=59

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3678bpb052#T=C&C=59

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3678bpb082#T=C&C=59

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3678bpb064#T=C&C=59

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3678bpb027#T=C&C=59

Fair warning: Dresses make minifigures slightly taller than usual, so beware…

Gustav Graves: I'd recommend http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=99930&name=Minifig,%20Hair%20Short%20Combed%20Sideways%20Part%20Left&category=%5BMinifig,%20Hair%5D#T=S&C=120&O={"color":120,"ii":1} or http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=15500&name=Minifig,%20Hair%20Short%20Combed%20Sideways%20Part%20Right&category=%5BMinifig,%20Hair%5D#T=C as an alternate hair. I'll have to get back to you on a face recommendation, (thank God for Youtube) but right off the bat, I can definitely say that it is WAY too goofy. That head actually might work better for Goldfinger.

Le Chiffre: I’m not sure if you used the same face as the one I was going to recommend, so I’d tentatively recommend http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3626bpb0526#T=C as an alternate head, but if you did in fact use that head, kudos! As is the case with Gustav Graves, I'd recommend http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=99930&name=Minifig,%20Hair%20Short%20Combed%20Sideways%20Part%20Left&category=%5BMinifig,%20Hair%5D#T=S&C=120&O={"color":120,"ii":1} or http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=15500&name=Minifig,%20Hair%20Short%20Combed%20Sideways%20Part%20Right&category=%5BMinifig,%20Hair%5D#T=C as an alternate hair. His hair is a lighter color than the one you used, it seems to me that it’s more brown than black. Also, As a nice compliment to the poker chip, he might be able to wield either http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3069bpx6, or http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3069bpb264.

Round 2:

Emilio Largo: As an add, I’d set aside a pair of colored hands (maybe black) to have as gloves. Also, if you want to, try http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=6158 as something to add on to the whole scuba theme, or http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3838#T=C, seeing as it has two tanks instead of just one. Nice use of the back of the Batman torso, as well as the spear gun.

Max Zorin: I'd recommend looking at this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=1&q=sunglasses&catLike=W&catType=P&catID=238&v=1 (the orange glasses "disambiguation page", if you will), and flipping through some of the choices that Bricklink has available. I picked out a handful, and I stuck to the yellows, but there are a few more out there.

Its great that you managed to hit the nail on the head with the orange tinted sunglasses, but I figured I’d throw in some others for you to check out as well.

Red Tint:

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3626bpb0364&name=Minifig,%20Head%20Dual%20Sided%20Red%20Sunglasses%20and%20Grin%20/%20Scared%20Pattern&category=%5BMinifig,%20Head%5D#T=C&C=3

Orange Tint:

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bpb0469

Plain ol’ sunglasses:

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bpb0468

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bpb0642

As a bonus, I picked out a few that would look good on him for when he’s not wearing the sunglasses.

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626cpb1035

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3626cpb1036#T=C&C=3

(Ignore the robot side ...)

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626cpb1345

Also, I’m not sure why you chose to do a blue suit and grey pants (I assume he wore a similar outfit in the movie), but I’d recommend any of these suits, and a pair of plain black pants.

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=973pb0940c01

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=973pb0532c01

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=973pb0532c01

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=973pb1003c01

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=973pb0322c01

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=973pb0737c01

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=973pb1519c01

Victor “Renard” Zokas: I’d recommend http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626cpb1328 as an alternate head. I can’t really find an image of what he’s wearing, but a majority of the images show him in a suit that I can’t tell much about. What I can tell is that it’s dark blue. It looks tactical, so I’m going to recommend http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=973pb2059c01. I'd also recommend looking at this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catID=485&itemYear=&searchName=Y&searchNo=Y&q=blue&catLike=W (the blue torso"disambiguation page", if you will), and flipping through some of the many, many, many choices that Bricklink has available. As is the case with Max Zorin, I’d recommend plain black legs.

Raoul Silva: I’d recommend http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626cpb0640 as an alternate head. I’d also recommend looking at this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catID=485&itemYear=&searchName=Y&searchNo=Y&q=blue&catLike=W (the police torso"disambiguation page", if you will), and flipping through some of the choices that Bricklink has available. I’d also recommend ditching the epaulette. It’s a bit much. I recall from the conversation we had regarding your James Bonds that you were being a stubborn purist, but I’d recommend that you try http://www.brickforge.com/store/product.php?productid=18482&cat=601&page=1 on for size for Raoul’s police hat, as opposed to the generic Lego one. It has two “prints” which might be useful, the gold badge print and the UK metro print.

N/A: Another little tidbit for you: Whilst doing research for my essay/comment, I found some sweaters in red/reddish brown that might be good for your Goldfinger version of Bond.

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=973pb0315c01

(This one has a striped undershirt, so it may not be what you’re looking for.)

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=973pb0754c01#T=S&C=5&O={"color":5,"ii":1}

(This one is listed as a “tartan” which is apparently a Scottish pattern, but I think it still looks good.)

Don’t worry, I’ll repost this part of my comment on your James Bond post so you can get to it easier.

Until next time!

- The Big Red Cheese

Post Script: Keep up the great work! :)

That's a pretty comphrensive breakdown, thank you for the clearly extremely thorough research you did! I'm constantly looking for ways to improve all the figures I make so your insight is very welcome!

With regards to both Dr No and Grant, I am planning to keep them as they are for the time being, Dr No's hair is definately slicker and shorter than the piece you suggested, and Grant's, particularly in the scenes with Bond on the train is quite neat and tidy, the book in particular also described him as being blond.

Goldfingers face I was never happy with but I like your suggestion (I even think I have it somewhere) it also frees up that face for someone else which is a welcome bonus.

Elektra and Silva are definately two characters I want to revisit, the extensive list of outfits will definately help improve her and also make Miranda Frost another character I have been considering. For Silva I'm still not happy with the police uniform idea, but his other outfits have me stumped so far!

Zorin does actually wear a dark suit with light trousers during the final scenes in San Francsisco (it was big in the 80s) similarly, I based Renard off the scenes in the submarine where he wears what seems to be a black leather jacket and dark jeans.

I like the idea of giving Le Chiffre playing cards, except that the Casino Royale Bond has them, but the CMF jester came with individual cards so I may give him one of those. The head is the one you suggested, as it has the same scar over the eye.

More villains are on the way, so watch this space, I would love to hear your thoughts on them!

Apologies for the long delay, but here are four more Bond villains!

Karl Stromberg

(The Spy Who Loved Me)

karl_stromberg.jpg

"Observe Mr Bond, the instruments of Armageddon"

Stromberg is a shipping tycoon obsessed with life under the sea, so much so that he plots to start a nuclear war, forcing people to live in his undersea cities. I have based this figure on Stromberg's final confrontation with Bond.

Hugo Drax

(Moonraker)

hugo_drax.jpg

"Mr Bond, you persist in defying my efforts to provide an amusing death for you"

Obsessed with the conquest of outer space, Drax has a self funded space program with a fleet of space shuttles and space station, but secretly plans to wipe out life on Earth and replace them with his own perfect specimens. Drax wears a number of outfits in the film, including a dark suit, all of which have a Drax Space Program insignia which looks a lot like this Ultra agents badge.

Kamal Khan

(Octopussy)

kamal_khan.jpg

"You have, a nasty habit, of surviving"

Khan is an exiled Afghan Prince who now resides in India where he operates a jewellery smuggling ring with Octopussy, however he secretly plans to double cross her and use her traveling circus to smuggle something else into West Berlin, a nuclear bomb. Khan wears a number of traditional Indian outfits in the film, and this one I feels best represents his look.

Franz Sanchez

(Licence to Kill)

franz_sanchez.jpg

"Loyalty is more important to me than money"

Sanchez is the most feared drug lord in all of South America, operating a vast cocaine smuggling empire. When he is arrested by the DEA, Sanchez escapes and attacks Felix Lieter, an American agent and incurs the wrath of his best friend, James Bond.

Mr Wint and Mr Kidd

(Diamonds Are Forever)

wint_and_kidd.jpg

"If first you don't succeed Mr Kidd"

"Try try again Mr Wint"

Two of Blofeld's most feared assassins, Wint and Kidd are never seen apart. They are assigned to close down a diamond smuggling pipeline and later to eliminate Bond himself. They employ a wide range of weapons including bombs, crematoriums and live scorpions.
