Alric of the House Drondil

Recommended Posts

This is the sequel to the history of Alric, son of Balric of the House Drondil, Lord of Dronskeep and Count of Drond's Feelds. For the Doctorate of Historica: see bottom of the post.

After a long, long journey trough all of Avalonia, wich I will tell you in another topic with other MOCs, Alric arrives in the village of Dronskeep. Dronskeep lies at feet of the hill on wich Dronskeep; his home, stands. The villagers expected him, cause they received a message of the Trifork telling them all about the return of their Lord. Before the first house of the village sat Aerol, the former smith. He recognised Alric immediatly, and took him to the commander of the Village Guard, Oron. Oron, not a young men, needs his time but finally said: "Welcome, my Lord. We received word of Lady Mariana that we could expect you. I assembled a few of my best men to escort you back to your rightfull home: Dronskeep." After this, the man stood up, took his cloak from a stool and arranged his men to march to the keep.

Alric climbing the path to reclaim his keep. After him marches the guard, with Oron holding the banner: green for Avalonia and blue for the village.

But when the group reached the keep, there were only Avalonian men celebrating the return of their Lord and placing the green banners of his guild. A serving maid came out of the door, holding some winebottles to refresh the men.

After greeting the men awaiting him, Lord Alric retired with Hands, the master of his stables and so one of the most important men in the keep (as the wealth of Drond's Feelds came from their excellent horses) to drink something and conversate, while his men celebrate his return on the ground floor.

Alric: "Where's the traitor?"

"Only an hour before you arrived, word reached him of your journey and he decided to fly."

"That's a pity, i'd like to see his head on a pike..." silence

Alric: "I have to ask: how did he die?"

"A few weaks before his death, he started complaining about the old wound. He said that the stump of his leg hurted incredible, and you know your father: he didn't complain fast. As time passed, the pain became greater and greater, as did the doses of drugs Gardarron gave him. Till he didn't wake up anymore..."

After that, the conversation goes to happier things, like the horses. They were the only ones well treated by Gardarron, as he knew they were his source of wealth.

That evening, Alric is in his writing room, sending a letter.

"To Lady Mariana.

I send you word to pronounce the fall of the traitor, and the rise of my own power.

I really need to thank you for you help, cause without the aid of the village guard Gardarron wouldn't have fled. I promise you Dronskeep shall not forget it.

To improve our relations further, I propose to sign a free trade treaty between our counties. In one moon, I will stand at our border, at Relan's Creek. I hope I can see your there. I also wanted to know on wich side of the civil war your husband is fighting.

Greetings,

Lord Alric Drondil, Count of Drond's Feelds."

*Ended by the official seal of the house of Drondil, a horse and a wolf-monster figthing each other*

After sealing the letter, he binds it to a pigeon and let it fly away.

Now all his important tasks are done, he decided it is wiser to go rest, and take a good look at his home the next day.

His last thougths before falling asleep are a memory to his childhood, when his father decided when it was time to go sleeping for him.

Not bad at all! I like the simple house and the tower isn't bad either. Nice simple interiors as well. Only little criticism is that the ground could use a little work all over, though this is something I struggle with as well.

Excellent build Titus, the keep is very nice, and good job on the landscaping as well! As MN mentioned, the landscaping could benefit from a bit more texturing, and the battlements would look a little better with cheese or tiles on top, but overall this is a great build! I'm looking forward to the continuation of your story!

Nice build! The rockwork is well done, and the combination of dark and light grey for the tower adds a lot! A little more texture on the ground, especially around the edge of the water which is pretty straight, would add a bit but overall well done! +1 for the rocks and cliffs. I think you could do a better job on the tower and roof (texture especially) to really show mastery of those techniques. I do really like how you angled the tower, but using for example dark and light grey plates instead of just bricks would make the mottled transition a bit better. Also, if you have any masonry bricks, 1x1 round plates, headlight bricks, or that sort of thing, those are really good for adding texture!

I rebuilt the tower with some rounds, but all my headlight bricks are in the house.

Cool build - it has a lot of details and a very nice overall composition, while still maintaining a wonderful classic feel! I do agree that there are a few unpolished parts, such as the (very) straight stream, but generally, this is a great build! My favourite detail is probably how you used a cape for a blanket! I do not think I have seen that before!

"Mylord,

We are many in the Trifork who have waited long for Drond's Fields to be returned to its rightful ruler. I shall at once send word to my husbond, from whom I have not long heard news.

It is our hope that we can once more establish a close relationship with all it entails in terms of trade, trust and mutual aid. Under the deceptive influence of Gardarron, our relation has declined, trade has dwindled and your people have suffered great heardship, which we have not been able counter.

As my husbond is currently fighting alongside the High Council in Kaliphlin, I shall venture to meet you at Relan's Keep at the agreed time. Should I not be able to appear myself, I will send a trusted advisor, with whom you may discuss any arrangement you wish.

At your service, and your family's

Lady Mariana

Acting Lord Mayor in Ser Beorthan's absence"

*Sealed with the official seal of the Trifork*

A response reaches the Lady by a courier of Alric's postal service - who is becoming quite known, see the Kaliphlin guild topic

"Mylady,

I am honored by your proposal of trust, peace and trade. Should you ever be under attack, know that the troops of Drond's Feelds will always respond to your call.

I hope your husband is alright, as he is fighting for the good side in this civil war.

I needed to know, because I have some personal reasons to hate the the Desert King (a moc will folow to explain).

I see you in two weeks at Relan's Creek,

Lord Alric"

*sealed by the wolf-horse sign*

Nicely situated keep! I like the winding path up the cliff, you managed to get it to look good in a small amount of space :classic: I like the angles, and I'm a sucker for rock arches. Well done!
