OLDNUT Posted April 8, 2015 There are two parts to using LDD decorations. First is the identifying parts that can have decorations. Second is identifying the decorations numbers. This is report of the first. Yes I know we all hope for a new brick set soon but I have saved my process and will be able to do the same again. All I need is the file that contains all parts, someone posted it last cycle. Not eye catching but useful. www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Oldnut/Decor2/all-in.lxf Also the spreadsheet with names and number of parts http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=555288 The Troll in his crayon camo suit. This is the part with the second larges number of decoration slots (8). Line from LXFML file Just to funny not to share (I know this is the wrong forum) <Part refID="0" designID="60671" materials="37,21,23,24,26,27,28,22,39" decoration="0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0"> The process Process for finding all parts that can have decoration placed on them. Start with 1564-bricks.lxf (posted on Eurobricks with all parts) Export to 1564-bricks.lxfml Copy lxfml file into Spreadsheet using space deliminator Sort full file using the column with “decoration= Delete all rows without “decoration= (both above and below target line) <Part refID="2" designID="3004" materials="21,0,0,0" decoration="0,0,0"> Edit out all columns but designID= Edit text to get just numbers Copy number into text file. () Using bbqqq’s batch generator to create lxfml files in groups of 50 with parts () Hand place oversize parts Hand search for parts with sub-components () Generate BOM from all-in.lxf and sub.lxf for parts name & number () () ps two part numbers can not be found will later work on issue
Happy SDE Posted April 8, 2015 (edited) I think "decoration" is a two-meaning thing in LDD: 1. Surface that may have different color than main part like 59278. 2. Surface to that can be applied texture (picture). like 3626. On 59278 you can't apply a texture. 3626 can't be multicolored What do you mean by "decoration"? I just wonder, why do you need the list? What are you want to use it for? PS: your second link (http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=555288) gives "This folder is not yet public." OK first sorry about the “not yet public” but my Brickshelf account is all messed up all the files I have uploaded are not to be found, folders are not displayed. Now to the questions I use the term “decorations” because that seams to be the term TLG selected. It is the name of the tool in LDD Extended “decoration tool” under the paint bucket. Also found in the LXFML 5 Reference on page two. It is the picture placement (mapping to surface of brick) term. The other term use for the color of brick is “materials”. The third term that part of this discussion is “designID” ie part number. Your statements about the two parts are correct when we use only the GUI tools of Paint Tool and Decoration Tool. First look at the 59278 part Now the 3626 part Reason I have taking the time to make a list of parts with decoration surfaces is so I can do a bit more with LDD than the tools let up do from with in the GUI.
