My ship "Alexandretta"

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Just new to this forum, so I thought I'd start with my favourite topic at this point. Ships. I've been through a fiew forums and seen a large variety of colorful and interesting ships that have been built. And as a start, I've also attached a picture of my one and only lego ship. Opinions and suggestions are welcome.

Thnx.

Welcome to Eurobricks! So I assume you like Pirates, what other themes do you like?

(I can't see the picture either...)

Sorry, not very familiar with how to attach/show my pics. Perhaps someone can clearly explain to me how to do it.

p_00225.jpghttp://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Vizier/C...ons/p_00221.jpg . Well, here are the pics. I guess for some fans out there my ship may seem a bit...dissapointing, but thats due to the fact that the entire ship is simply build from scrap lego pieces. As for other themes i'm interested in, there arent that many recent sets that have truly caught my eye, i'm more of the classic lego sets fan. Edited by Bonaparte

Well, beside that slight color disharmony it looks like a really neat ship, with a decent

shape and beautiful sails. A very nice work! *y*

Nice ship - using many colours is a good start for getting your idea for the ship - but gotta agree that proper/harmonized colours always look best

Nice start. I agree that the colours should be changed, but I do love the front sail with the coat of arms on it.

I concur with the colours, but nevermind old chap because you've done a marvellous job to construct this ship?

Where did you get that sail emblem from?

Since this thread is turning out to be a MOC-thread, I've moved this to our pirate MOC forum.

Also I've resized the picture and put it in the first post (together with a link to the gallery).

Let me know I you want me to change the title or description of this thread.

Now that we've done those formalities, welcome to Eurobricks !!

Your ship has great promise. I like the shape and size. Also the sails are well done.

The mix of colors has already been discussed, so I won't say anything more on that subject.

I would love to see more ships from you in the future.

Btw, does this ship have a name?

Hi and wlcome *sweet* nice ship. Hope ou take more pics of it later . never mind the colors. better have a nice ship in many colors than having right colors on a bad ship. colors can be fixed later if you want it . Do you have a name for the ship? Love that coat of arms on the sail. *y* keep up the good work .

Welcome aboard!

Nice first ship. I like the rigging work, the sails, and the general shape. It looks like you built off the prefabricated hull nicely!

The ship may be a little small for four masts, but it doesn't look overly cramped so I commend you for that!

What is your next project going to be?

Thanks to everyone who replied and commented on my ship. The name of my ship is actually "Alexandretta", however originally I had in mind to make it HMS Alexandretta, but, due to the color mismatch and the overly shape, I cannot call it that. What it started at first was just a small sloop with 2 sails, and i gotta say, it looked terrible lol. But from then on, I began to really love 15th- early 18th century ships, so my model "evolved" so to speak. What it's intended to represent is a spanish galleon, a multi-deck, 32 gunship. Unfortunately, unlike other lego fans and creators out there, I am in extremely short supply of lego pieces, (which explains the mismatch). However, just last night, I did a few modifications to it such as highten the back (because normally galleons have a very heightened lower end), and i've also added a small satuette to give it a better look. (I will update the picture of the Alexandretta in another post). My next project (when i'll get the pieces) will probably be a 104 gun ship of the line, (something simillar to the HMS Victory, except much bigger). As for my other off-topic creations, I have two Starcraft models (i'm a big SC fan), a Terran battlecruiser (matched colours) and an SCV (mismatched). And that just leaves my multicoloured RMS Titanic, which I tried to build it as closely as possible to the replica. I'll add the pics of the models on my brickshelf soon enough so no worries.
