[MOC]s - Star Wars REBELS Vehicles and other Creations

Recommended Posts

Since I could not find any Star Wars REBELS MOCs in the MOC index, neither mine nor those of other MOCers, and since the MOC index has no category for MOCs based on the Star Wars REBELS animated series, I decided to collect all of my vehicles here in this thread for easy reference and document them with nicely edited photographs.

This obviously means that I will update this thread regularly, since I continually build MOCs based on the show - from tiny speeder bikes to large transports.

I also explicitly invite other MOCers to post good quality photographs of their Star Wars REBELS creations here, since this thread is intented as a place for appreciating the designs from the show and render them in LEGO-form.

The GHOST

This MOC is finished at last. This final version has been improved by building the outer edges in SNOT, which results in straight edges that perfectly define the basic shape of the ship and a cleaner, smoother look. Also, the proportions have been improved by elongating the hull between the dorsal gun turret and the PHANTOM's docking station by two studs and making the main engines as well as the fin a bit longer, too. The model is built at roughly half-minifig-scale, but fits minifigs in the cockpit and at the battle stations and also sports some other interior and play features. The PHANTOM can also be detached from the GHOST and has room for a minifig in the cockpit and another minifig or up to two cargo containers in the passenger/cargo area.

The model is 62 studs long, 44 studs wide and 21 studs high.

Imperial Assault Carrier (Gozanti Class Cruiser)

This MOC is finished and also includes a quite roomy interior. as with all my builds, it is very sturdy and can be picked up easily at the wings. As of now, the model has a retractable landing gear, but it is a little bit flimsy for the weight of the model and needs reinforcing when deployed. The model is built at roughly half-minifig-scale and is in scale to the GHOST.

The model is 81 studs long, 40 studs wide and 20 studs high.

Great idea! Seeing both of these is amazing. Your updates to the Ghost make it look absolutely fantastic, and the Gozanti looks just as good. I can't wait to see all of your others in one place.

Well done! I have the Ghost but I gotta say I wasn't too impressed with it, yours looks much better proportioned. Well done on the Assault Carrier also.

Your Ghost has been, I think, pretty widely seen and complimented, so I won't repeat. But your Gozanti-Class ... I'm in awe. I noticed it before in the thread you dedicated to it, but the presentation here makes it even more incredible. That is far and away my favorite vehicle from the Rebels series, and one of my favorites among all the various ships and vehicles of the Star Wars universe. Since those were mainly cargo vessels, some basic crew space and a bit of cargo hold would make suitable interiors. Otherwise, since it's an Imperial ship, maybe a cell or two?

Thank you all for the kind comments, and thanks to VK-318 for the suggestions regarding the interior of the Assault Carrier. I've finally had the time to tackle it and built a ready room with weapon lockers, a large cargo hold which can also double as a corridor, and a holding cell in the back.

Looks awesome man. Any plans to SNOT the exterior and interior of the transport?

These are just brilliant. I especially love the Ghost. I didn't want to pick up the official Lego version since the angles and details didn't quite look right to me. If only they had released something more along these lines. Wonderful job!

You're quite welcome. :blush::classic:

Personally, I don't think SNOTing it would help. For one thing, it looks like that would require a complete overhaul of the structure of the model. Also, at least to me, the patches of studs just seem to fit the look of the ship.

are you thinking of doing instructions for those two ?

To be honest, I promised to do detailed photographic instructions for the GHOST in February, but since it is such a complicated build, breaking it apart into segments that can be built separately and photographing the individual steps is a task that takes way too much time. That being said - and I make no promises here - I will propably break the model up into its individual segments and make detailed photographs of the segmented builds, especially the builds that create all those angles, so that experienced MOCers can have a go at building their own, should they wish to do so.

The Imperial Assault Carrier is a lot easier to disassemble and is not as complex as the GHOST, so it'd be easier to make some photographs of the individual segments that make up the build.

Thanks! I'm glad you like them. As a matter of fact, although I claimed they both were finished, that does not mean that they can't be improved - something which I constantly do. Yesterday an idea occured to me of how to improve the GHOST's engines, which I did today, for example.

You are quite right - the Imperial Assault Carrier is basically built as a house of plates, but it also involves SNOT techniques, apparently. I also like a few studs to define some lines. I plan to use more tiles and more plates with studs only along the edges, though, once I get the parts.

Today we get to a new vehicle from the show. It's both a classic and a very unique vehicle. If you are a loyal, earnest and patriotic Imperal, you have to brace yourself and be very strong if you decide to open the spoiler below. It's against all regulations, but what can I say - I kinda like it!

A fun little build utilizing bright oranges and yellows, interspersed with some black-and-white, to make not only the sole TIE Fighter with personality, but one with A LOT of personality:

Sabine's Masterpiece

Note that the internal structure for the cockpit sphere is not my own creation, but ripped from here: http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream - A cool build idea that even fits a minifig into the cockpit of this smaller-than-minifigscale TIE. What I changed was using slopes and cheese-slope pieces to make the cockpit sphere much more smooth and round.

Looks great! Is this in scale with your Assault Carrier? Even if it isn't it still looks amazing!

No, it's still too large. If it were built in scale to the Assault Carrier and the GHOST, it needed to be half minifig-scale. That scale would have been too small to get the color scheme in. Even at the scale at which the model is built, the color scheme is still only an approximation of the actual paint job Sabine has done on this TIE.

It's ok. It still looks fantastic. How small would a half mini-fig scale Tie be? Maybe you could make a few to attack the Ghost or escort the Assault Carrier.

That looks really impressive, but I thought only the inside of the wings were colored and not the outside?
