OLDNUT Posted January 14, 2015 So you want to build a space ship. When finished its mission will be to mine Helium-3 from the one of the gas giant planets Jupiter or Saturn. Space headquarters in Zurich will make the decision after the testing of the Magnetic Shielding Sphere. The MSS is the last hope to protect astronauts from radiation outside of Earth orbit. This project is build in LDD and now contains 10009 bricks and growing.
Lord Tyrus Posted January 16, 2015 This is insanely big! That ball is very well done.
OLDNUT Posted January 17, 2015 Thank you for the comment. At this stage of construction the ship is 255x139x90 studs. The plans from Zurich show the length to get 5 studs longer but all else will be within the present dimensions.
prateek Posted January 19, 2015 Wow this is amazing! The ball is quite a thing to behold haha. BTW, is this thing real, or have you written a very convincing back story to this?
OLDNUT Posted January 19, 2015 Construction photo update. Now Zurich informs the construction astronauts that the communication dish will be relocated before the fusion reactors are fueled and powered up. The next step will be loading the sodium into the MSS. Rockets with the sodium are on the launch pads. 11956 bricks and growing
GB115 Posted January 25, 2015 Holy crap, that thing would weigh a ton... Great design though, can't wait to see how the expansions look.
OLDNUT Posted February 6, 2015 Construction Update: 98% finished: The testing phase will begin soon. The final load of the liquid sodium compound is being added to the MSS. The fusion reactors are coming online and will reach 10% power before the interior core of the MSS can start its rotation. The twin Helium collector ships are LSC-stretch drones modified from LCS that were designed and manufactured by Sunder Aeronautics and Space Limited (thanks for the permission). See the post [LDD MOC] SF_32V Starfighter for more pics. Technical data on the project will be posted on the LEGO Digital Designer forum soon. The project now contains 16009 bricks. Captain Braunsfeld Posted February 7, 2015 Fine creation. Huge indeed!
LegoGunInstructions Posted February 8, 2015 You should add some astronauts!
fossil1999 Posted February 23, 2015 This, in my opinion, is a pretty realistic looking transport/mining ship. I can definitly imagine it built in 50-100 years if we globally wanted too. Oh, and it looks awesome too!
