Winter Village: The Elves' bakery

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

This is my entry for this marvellous end of year contest.

I made a little house for elves which is on a side of a big rock. This rock was modified by the elves to add a bread oven in a part of it. After that, they constructed a small house to be just aside the oven.

I was inspired by old farm here (in east of France) because many ot them had a bread oven 50 years ago. Unfortunatelly today a lot of them has disappeared.

I worked hard on the snow because I would like to give it a real shape with curves and some snowslides on the second part of the roof because of the wind.

I also add a light brick in the oven, with a "key" to turn it on or off. The key is hidden in the rock.

Have a great end of year, thanks for reading.

It seems you have snow in France. In my part of the world it has just melted away again....

Nice bakery - well lit! - and the snow roof looks good.

How did you attach the curved white slope?

thanks for your comment,

Yes we had 5/10 cm here, just in time for the holidays.

The curved slope is attached with a 1/2 grey pin

This is a really cute, snowy scene. Superb job on the roof design. There is nothing better then freshly baked bread

The roof gives it that cozy, totally snowed in feel, even without the real snow!

Thanks for your comments, :classic:

Unfortunatly photobucket brake a link and I am not authorized to correct it because we are after the dead line of the contest, but you can find it the link toward the album.

And BTW, Happy new year all !

That oven is great! It really looks like he is baking bread.

Yes. I was influenced by the fact that christmas holidays is the only period during which I have time to cook, so I was happy to imagine the elves doing the same...even under a lot of snow.

You photographed it outside in actual snow!?!?!

You are braver than I am, that is some real dedication to realism. :classic:

Yes thanks

I was lucky because when I decided to take picture, there was the first sunray since at least 2 weeks...It was a sign from the god of the brick !

An excellent entry!

Love the attention to detail.

In my opinion, it does not fit in perfectly with the WV theme, because everything is tiled, but that's personal taste, and it definitely looks brilliant, also from the back! And that tree's gorgious.

Good luck, and keep clicking those bricks together.

Nice design (I especially like the fact that it's inspired by real buildings. It wouldn't look out of place in a medieval layout!)

Thanks for sharing and good luck.
