Hi guys

This is the “Etheldreed Windmill” my 3rd entry for the CCC, Medieval Husbandry category, and also a freebuild to GoH.

The mighty lands of Avalonia are home to many water and windmills, and perhaps the most known is the “Etheldreed Windmill”, where all kinds of cereals are milled to feed the nearby small villages. Being away from the forests, so it can catch strong winds, this windmill is an iconic landmark of Vanhorn Region.

CC is welcome. I had to photograph this one with only artificial lighting so the pics came out a little dark.

Enjoy

Gorgeous build! I love the sloping roof and the little courtyard. That door is spectacular! Beautiful techniques throughout the build.

Another stupendous build, Cesbrick! Excellent windmill, the wooden protrusions look very good

Great job with the house (especially the roof!), trees, and irregular base as well

Another excellent build, Cesbrick!

I personally am fascinated with windmills, especially from the 1400's, and this is an excellent model representing just that or similar! Did you make the upper tower with the propeller able to turn to follow the changes in wind direction?

The entire build is very nice, including details such as the stone walls of the mill, the roof, the foliage, and lively details with the minifigures and accessories.

Keep the builds coming, Cesbrick!

Yet another fantastic build from you, that roof is great but the shaping on the windmill blades really takes the cake! Great stonework throughout!

Wonderfully executed build. The asymmetry is excellent.

You may want to edit your text.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone else. :classic:

Thanks you Slegengr. Yes, the propeller is attached to the inner structure of the tower by technic bricks and pins, so it rotates.

Great Build! I line the window with wood/glas combo

I had the same question as Slegengr.: I think you mean the propeller can turn. But can the hole opper part turn, when the wind is comming from the side or back?!

In Portugal I've seen old windmills how can turn by its self?!

What a wonderfull scene! As being dutch, i love my windmills, but there's so much more like the roof on the house, and the insanely detailed surroundings!

This is indeed what I originally meant. Many designs and pictures I have seen of old windmills incorporate some way to actually turn the entire tower to which the propeller is attached, allowing the propeller to be aimed into the wind. It is good to know that the propeller itself can turn, though!

You sir, are very good at stacking bricks!

I think what really makes this MOC great for me is all the containers. Odd I know, but they really make the dio seem lived in and add a lot of character.

You are really crashing this years CCC, every build is excellent. Even if you are mostly inspired by the well-known style of DC/LD you still manage it to give it your own touch. The builds are really special. I was also thinking about building a windmill for a different category and I think I might give it a try, even if I can't top this.

Good luck for the CCC fellow Avalonian
