Bionicle Protector Alternate Builds

Recommended Posts

PoI and PoE are my favourites !

The proportions and the Hau Mask of Fire make Ekimu look kind of chubby, it's funny.

Where did you get 4M length armor in white? Its not in any set I know of

Knockoff Ninjago action figure.

One good idea for a temporary mask for Ekimu would be the Golden Skull Spider mask. It has similar proportions and color to the MoC, and you could even say that Ekimu is being controlled by the LoSS using it.

That's pretty good! What mask/helmet do you intend to use on your final version of Ekimu?

I have actually ordered the gold Skull Spider mask from Bricklink, and will be using that.

They're from a knockoff Ninjago Ultrabuild set I got a while back.

I kinda wanna keep him in the Hau because of that :P

@ Leewan: I really like the squat look of Ekimu

I just completed my Protector of Ice!

No new armor, under his chest you can see white teeth going around his waist mounted to an angled Technic joint.

I like the Megatron style cannon here. (also kind of looks like a possible Ekimu hammer build hmmm)

The knees are tight with the extensions, but I like the look.

I considered adding a sword, but I really like this clean look.

poi1.png

I filled in his back:

Installed a ball joint on his back.

you can see the weapon mods better here, they come off cleanly no peg left in the hand.

poi2.png

Lets drop the back plating so you can see the shoulder build:

Its my original mod.

The teeth on the minifig arms cover the tops of his shoulders nicely.

poi3.png

Group Shot!

Of the three he's the best balanced, nothing heavy on his back.

Ironically I planned on only doing a POI, but the colors of these kits were sooo nice.

I think I'm taking a break till the new sets come out :P

VERY nice

Oh hey, I made some mods to my Protectors recently! Check 'em!

Also, I made a mockup of Ekimu early this morning.

Apologies for the grainy photos, I'm lazy and just used my phone :P

Looks very similar to the real ekimu if not exact

Oh, I never said I didn't like it.

Your Protectors are really badass, especially the PoJ and PoI.

Thanks, I found out later POI looks better with shorts.

I see what you did there with POE's pants.

BTW do you have Pohatu, curious to see what that mask looks like on Ekimu.

One more thing if you remove the new armor from his knees, you'll have the official Ekimu build :)

He has silver feet and blue upper thighs, but I'm certain you nailed it!

There, POI with shorts, like the official build!

I love all of these MODs... But, Lewis' Chubby Ekimu is a winner for me. ;w;

@LewiMOC, Your Ekimu MOC is awesome

I'm glad you guys like him! :D

@Rayskull, the extensions on the legs are genius, pure genius

@LewiMOC, Your Ekimu MOC is awesome

I love the extension piece, as long as dark bley is part of the overall colors the outcome is fantastic! ...also you can trap trans colors... Making them accents.

Still playing with the legs on POI.

Now he looks like the rest with bell bottoms.

-the ekimu build is super nice... I may try it with Pohatus mask :)

Can I bother you guys once more...

I redesigned the shield so as to store a sword (that he was surely missing)

I made a few other adjustments...moved the gun forward (better pose-ability), put normal studs in and changed the arm and leg build

More from me! I got the Protector of Fire yesterday, and made some modifications to him. He's also got a couple of friends.

Okay guys its been a while, all the excitement has died down.

I've been tinkering and I have a new super complex shoulder design.

This is a modification of my original mod.

Originally I wanted more support for the shoulders. I wanted to lock them in. and so I created a cage for the shoulders:

http://www.brickshel...oulder_cage.png

This is a good setup for a POF / POW / Ekimu build.

This build yields new opportunities for shoulder armor.... of course you may have other ideas. The green section is completely optional here.

The back will look busy, or more bionicle-y.

A few more pics for clarification:

I'm waiting on a few pieces to finish this up.

Okay, so my previous mod was not very elegant.

I have much more simple reinforcement:

which in person looks like this:

not too different from the front, shoulder spikes retained:

I know I'm really late to the party, but I have got to say that all the Protectors and the alternate builds really are brilliant. In fact, a while ago it gave me the inspiration to create a baby version of my sigfig (which I'll show if people really want to see it), so I must give credit to Rayskull for the wonderful little build

I just wish I had enough little Technic pieces to make all my Protectors look even anything like these ones :look:

You can through Bricklink for about $10. Pay with Paypal. Give it a shot. I still bought like 5 sets so I don't feel guilty buying new parts from resellers...who I think also purchased some in bulk. That's how I do it.

BTW show us your Sig fig!

Oh, I use BL all the time, the problem arises from not having enough money left over for BL. That and I've spent all this month's BL fund on another MOC

And sure, I'll show you my sigfig. The big one is my sigfig, the Protector size one based on your build is the baby version. Be aware: the big one especially has quite a lot of custom sculpted parts as it's impossible to replicate the self-made character with purist techniques:

dscn5714.jpg

And obviously a pic of just the one actually relevant to this thread. The head is custom but everything else is purist:

dscn5715.jpg

Sorry about the clutter.

EDIT: Typo. My new computer seems to have a habit of adding random keystrokes.

looks great in those colors, the custom head has a story I'm sure. Hands and feet on the big one look nice. All sorts of cool stuff in the background.

Great. All your custom pieces are very cool.

What the type of material did you use to make those parts?

Amazing one eye Bugatti veyron head!

Thanks! The head sculpt for the big one was actually made over 3 years ago. Believe it or not, the heads are made using paper, reinforced using aluminium mesh, then painted and finished with polyurethane varnish. The arrowhead is made with clay and finished a similar way.

In fact, I might make a new topic covering those and other similar builds to avoid cluttering up the thread that is supposed to be about Protector builds, but I would have to do a lot of preparatory work beforehand for them to make any sense
