Jim Posted October 21, 2014 C-MODEL CONTEST ENTRY TOPIC This is the entry topic for the Technic C-Model Contest. DESCRIPTION Build an alternate LEGO Model out of one or two existing LEGO Technic sets. The total part count for the set(s) you use can't exceed 600, so you can either use a single set containing 600 parts or less or use two (different) sets with a combined part count of 600 or less. You can't use 600 parts of a 1200 part set. Since 2005 is the year I came out of my dark ages, I am also imposing a release date limit. The set(s) need to be released in the year 2005 or later. DEADLINE Deadline date is November 30th, 2014. Contest will be closed on Monday the 1st, so you will have the entire Sunday to build. mescalinum Posted November 4, 2014 1. Mars Rover Hello everyone! This is my TC5 contest entry. It is a planetary exploration rover (something like the NASA Curiosity Rover). It is built from set 8264 Hauler. This set was released in 2009 and counts 574 parts, including a Power Functions M motor, and a linear actuator. I call it the EAGLE 9394-LK HELICOPTER Functions: Free Rotating rotor blades. Removable swivel undercarriage gun. Removable rocket/missile wing store pylons. Retractable front main wheels. Features: - independent front axle suspension, - dragged rear axle suspension, - RWD by a pull-back motor, - chain driven single cylinder fake engine, - automatic return-to-centre steering provided by a super positive caster angle (steering is done by the steering wheel in the cab), - manualy adjustable rear wing, - only stickers from 42026 used. There are 54 pieces remaining out of 343 available (including spare parts). You can read more about The Dawnbreaker in the discussion thread and build it using these. Wheeled Excavator Discussion thread For the [TC5] challenge I'm using 8071 Bucket truck And this is my model Functions: Working Steering via the gear on the back Front grader can be raised up or down Feet on the back side can be lowered, and raised Rotation of the upper structure via the gear on the side Boom can be raised and lowered Bucket is fully operational too Here you can see that functions are controlled by yellow gears on the right side of the excavator. The brown gear at the back controls steering. Front grader and rear feet are controlled manually. Animated boxer-4 motor connected to rear wheel via chains. Opening panels to view suspension and motor. Kickstand on right side at rear. Windshield, can be pivoted a little. Separate stand that's sturdier than the little kickstand. Snow Groomer Snow groomer made with the 8047 "Compact Excavator" from 2009: There are three functions: Lift of blade (left exhaust pipe, worm gear, 24t crown, lift arms) Lift of tiller (right exhaust pipe, worm gear, 8t, lift arm) Working tiller, driven by the caterpillars (12t-12t, 2 times). The Rare Red Grader Here is my entry for the [TC5] competition (based on the 8261 and 8048): + = The rare red grader It features: - Steering : HoG + steering in the cab - Pendular suspension on the front axle - Pendular suspension on the rear axle - Grader blade with the following articulation possibilities: - up/down (operated by pushing the rod forward or backward. It has a spring loaded knee-jack mechanism to keep it either up or down) - tilt around the vertical axis (operated by turning the wheel on the rod) - tilt around the horizontal axis (to make it follow the ground.
